Damien Richard Fahey (born June 1, 1980) is an MTV VJ, television host, and drummer.

Early life and family background

Fahey grew up in Chicopee, Massachusetts, and moved to the town of Longmeadow, Massachusetts during the summer of 1992. He attended Williams Middle School and graduated from Longmeadow High School before being accepted a place at Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts where he majored in communication studies.

Career

DJ

While he was a high school student in Longmeadow, Fahey became an intern and then a part-time radio DJ at adult-contemporary station 94.7 WMAS-FM, based in Springfield, Massachusetts. Upon admission to Northeastern University in 1999, he acquired a position as a part-time overnight DJ with Boston, Massachusetts radio station KISS 108 FM.

Total Request Live

It was while he was working at KISS 108 that Fahey was hired by MTV after a nationwide search for a new VJ in 2002. He replaced the popular VJ Carson Daly as the host of MTV's Total Request Live after Daly left the network to host his own late-night show on NBC. Upon being hired by MTV, Fahey left Northeastern University after completing three years of college. Fahey hosted TRL until the show's cancellation in November 2008.

Film and television

Fahey had a short role in the film Robots, as the announcer. He appeared as the voice of Dr. Michael Milano on an episode of Family Guy, that aired on November 27, 2007. He also appeared as a celebrity guest on the July 6, 2008 episode of the game show Million Dollar Password.

Music

Damien Fahey plays drums in the band "The Classic Futures" formerly known as "Here's Johnny!" with singer/guitarist Kenli Mattus and bassist Matt Amendola and keyboardist/singer Michael Fox. He plays Yamaha drums, Vater drumsticks and Zildjian cymbals.

Other work

In 2004 after Craig Kilborn left The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn, CBS held auditions for the host job in Los Angeles by allowing their nominees to host the show for one week each. Fahey auditioned along with Michael Ian Black, Drew Carey, Ana Gasteyer, Adam Carolla, Jim Gaffigan, D.L. Hughley, and Bob Saget. While hosting in October and November 2004, he interviewed celebrities including Eddie Izzard, Peter Falk, Marsha Thomason, and Pat O'Brien. Craig Ferguson won and started hosting the new Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson in January 2005.

Fahey has also co-hosted the Miss Teen USA 2006 pageant and the Live with Regis and Kelly talk show.

Along with Myleene Klass, he is currently cohosting the American version of the UK reality series I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!, for NBC.
