Rapid transit subways operate in all of South Korea's seven major cities, except for Ulsan.
- Seoul - Seoul Metropolitan Subway (22 lines; includes both Urban Transit system and Wide-area Transit system)
- Busan - Busan Metro (5 lines)
- Daegu - Daegu Metropolitan Transit (2 lines)
- Incheon - Incheon Metro (1 line integrated with the Seoul subway system)
- Gwangju - Gwangju Metro (1 line)
- Daejeon - Daejeon Express Transit (1 line)
