The discography of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, a Los Angeles, California-based rock band, consists of ten studio albums, two live albums, three compilation albums, one EP, two box sets, four video albums, forty-three singles, and forty-four music videos.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers released their first three albums to virtually no commercial success during the mid to late 1980s.[1] It was not until their fourth album, 1989's Mother's Milk, that the band received critical attention when the album peaked at number fifty-two on the Billboard 200.[2] After releasing Blood Sugar Sex Magik in 1991, the Chili Peppers broke into the mainstream. The album went on to sell over seven million copies in the United States—thirteen million worldwide—and became a foundation for alternative rock in the 1990s.[3][4][5] John Frusciante quit the band shortly thereafter, and the band hired Dave Navarro and released One Hot Minute in 1995. While the album was a sizable hit, it failed to match the success of its predecessor Blood Sugar Sex Magik.[3] Frusciante rejoined the Chili Peppers in 1998, and they released their seventh album, Californication, in 1999, which was followed by By the Way (2002) and Stadium Arcadium (2006). Stadium Arcadium spawned three straight No. 1 hit singles including "Dani California", which spent a total of 14 straight weeks at No. 1. The band entered the studio in September 2010 to record their tenth album, and their first with guitarist Josh Klinghoffer. Recording was completed in March 2011 and the album, titled I'm with You, was released August 29, 2011. In November 2011 the band opened the website, LiveChiliPeppers.com which will feature all shows from the I'm with You tour for purchase through downloads. Older shows from previous tours are also expected to be added to the archive as well.

To date, the Red Hot Chili Peppers have sold over 70 million albums worldwide.[6][7][8] The band currently holds the all-time record for the most U.S. No. 1 singles on alternative radio with a total of 12 singles. They have been nominated for 16 Grammy Awards including the Grammy for Album of the Year for Stadium Arcadium and have won 7 Grammy Awards.[9]

  • XIII^ The song was never released as a single however a little seen promotional video for the song was filmed although never officially released like the band's other music videos. The video is a mixture of the band performing the song in black and white with clips in color of the band talking about their sound and the new album.
  • XIV^ Initially filmed by Anton Corbijn, the band felt the video was too "artsy" and shot a more performance-oriented video with Gavin Bowden after scrapping the original. The second version can be found on their Greatest Hits album.[77]
  • XV^ Video was originally released internationally excluding the United States until it was featured on the Greatest Hits compilation. The video for "Universally Speaking" features actor, Dave Sheridan who appeared in the band's video for "By The Way".
  • XVI^ The band held a contest in March 2007 through YouTube asking fans to create a video for their song, "Charlie". 2,600 videos were created and submitted but in June 2007 the band announced that Omri Cohen was the winner. Cohen had his video placed on the band's YouTube page, won $5,000 and got a chance to meet the band. Anthony stated that the video made both him and his girlfriend cry.[78][79]
  • XVII^ Video was not released in the United States. There were two versions of the video created.
  • XVIII^ The band shot the first version of the video in June 2011 with Kreayshawn however they decided not to go with her version of the video and instead shot a second video in late July 2011 with director, Marc Klasfeld which was released August 17, 2011. It is currently unknown what happened with the Kreayshawn version and why it was not used.
  • XIX^ Although not officially released by the band, in response to being allowed to select the song as a single, a music video was released on March 9, 2012 and created by a group of Brazilian fans. The video has since been endorsed Warner Brazil. The video has since been aired on MTV Brazil and both Chad Smith and Josh Klinghoffer have praised the video. [80][81]
