Intro section: Citation needed?

There's currently a [citation needed] tag after this sentence "Due to the popularity of the show, The Annoying Orange has also become the subject of a TV series, a video game, a range of toys, and a t-shirt line, despite the show's negative reception." What is this even asking a citation of? That the show had a negative reception? The citations are below, in the 'reception' section. Is this a request for citation of the existence of a TV series, etc.? This feels less like an honest request for a citation and more like an attempt to discredit the 'negative reception' statement. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Musubk (talkcontribs) 15:08, 3 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I concur; I'm removing it for now. If someone re-adds it, I'm sure digging up a source would be an easy enough task. Cheers, Zaldax (talk) 19:59, 10 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

protection

this article is subject to frequent vandalism, likely because it appeals to a huge teen audience. can we get some semi-protection or something on it?--Milowenttalkblp-r 17:41, 5 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You can request protection at WP:RPP. Active Banana (talk) 17:46, 5 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I would say its a vandalism target because Annoying Orange is, well, annoying.Mercurywoodrose (talk) 05:14, 22 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I second Mercurywoodrose's assessment. --98.207.107.112 (talk) 15:24, 12 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Redirect

If someone types in "realannoyingorange", should it be a redirect to this page? 411connor (talk) 19:56, 18 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think so.

  • LOL at the all the tags this article has garnered now. This is no doubt the most popular article I have created to date, but its well-nigh impossible to keep it top notch due to the subject matter and its audience. Kudos to all who keep on it.--Milowenttalkblp-r 04:55, 3 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Plumpkin?

Plumpkin only appeared in 2 episodes and is only a minor character. So why is he on the character list? Also, I would like the permission to removed the word 'pissed' and replace it with 'infuriated' or something more appropriate for an encyclopedia-type website. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Paleo Kid (talkcontribs) 03:38, 24 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If what you say is true, then Pumpkin should not be on the character list. You don't have to get permission for making an article more encyclopedic.pluma Ø 01:13, 15 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'm making a complaint

This guy, (forgot his name) keeps saying that Marshmallow is a girl. But he is a boy I know. Listen to his theme song (Ooah Ooah, He's so cute) So Marshmallow is a HE!!! -rtucker913 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rtucker913 (talkcontribs) 14:32, 4 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. Even though he sounds like a girl, Marshmallow is a boy. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.243.23.219 (talk) 01:50, 10 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

He definetly is a boy, despite sounding like a girl. Montono (talk) 01:03, 13 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Accent

Could anyone possibly place the accent(s)? Thanks. We non-US editors don't stand much of a chance with US regional accents at the best of times. DireCriticMark (talk) 18:04, 22 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Obviously non-rhotic. I'd say probably East Coast, New England maybe, but not New York. Any other suggestions for more precise region? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.166.23.165 (talk) 18:16, 23 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

"Character" sections are fowned upon per manual of style / WP:WAF

"Character" sections are not appropriate for wikipedia articles as they (and this one in particular) generally consist soley of Wikipedia editors opinions and analysis and extranious fancruft. see the MOS for writig about fiction Wikipedia:Manual of Style (writing about fiction). Active Banana (bananaphone 17:04, 1 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The problem is that your cuts were too excessive, and as such I've had to revert them. It is preferable to trim the material rather than simply delete it as there are relevant details that can be preserved. I have now gone through the section and trimmed it significantly, in an effort to weed out the fancruft in favour of the core details. (As an aside, I'll note that I have no particular affection for the series, having heard it in the background far, far too many times for my liking. That aside, however, the wholesale deletion is not appropriate.) Hopefully, the trimmed section will address your concerns. --Ckatzchatspy 17:27, 1 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Relevent details must be supported by third party sources and not merely observations of wikipedia editors. The sourced content had all remained. No third party sourcing has yet been entered. Just 'cause there is "stuff" doesnt mean it belongs in a Wikipedia article. Active Banana (bananaphone 18:14, 1 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Basic observations about plot and characters can be supported by the work itself, as long as we're not drawing conclusions about it. If there are lines that you see as problematic, please list them here so that we can hash out a fix. --Ckatzchatspy 18:16, 1 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Cease and desist

I've noticed that many users, mostly anonymous, have been disruptively editing on this article. Some added confusing, disruptive, false, and fake information just to trick the reader into thinking the false information is correct. Some of them removed maintenance tags that are still needed. Others did nothing to improve the article; just to make it worse. Please stop, and stop now. The article has already been semi-protected because I requested it to be so at WP:RPP, so I can clean up the article back to its original state. This behavior and editing pattern is irritating me.

Thank you. Bryce53 | talk 09:27, 22 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Unneeded information in games section

In the games section there is a sentence that says 'The game can be bought for $0.99 ($2.99 for the iPad) at the iTunes Store.' This dosen't add any detail and is just advertising the game.alan.polding (talk) 16:23, 31 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Dane Boe

Why can't he have a page, hes quite famous hes as famous as Ray William Johnson — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.0.91.83 (talk) 19:03, 5 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I did not make changes to this article!

I recieved a message on my page that apparently I had made changes that were not considered constructive. Let me be the first to tell you I had nothing to do with this page, it was most likely someone fraudulently accessing the page through my IP.

I will be complaining about this. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Alexkvaskov (talkcontribs) 18:37, 5 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

"Pilot" of First Episode?

Should the first episode of the YouTube Annoying Orange be called the Pilot? Daneboe did not initially mean The Annoying Orange to be a series, so why Pilot? 90.211.11.152 (talk) 16:29, 22 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Grapefruit and Granpda Lemon

I think Grapefruit and Grandpa Lemon have had enough recognition to be considered main characters. --216.15.119.93 (talk) 00:22, 20 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Midget Apple?

As far as I'm concerned, "Midget Apple" should be called by his former name: Little Apple, if that's what it is, at least. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.242.173.11 (talk) 18:35, 4 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

No. He is commonly known as "Midget Apple" in the series. --Bryce (talk | contribs) 06:17, 24 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Edit request on 22 December 2011

New Upcoming characters:

Starfruit: Starfruit is a sword wielding annoying Hawaiian carambola who is extremely smart, strong-willed, and very good at pointing more gruesome ends than the annoying orange. When he annoys other characters, he acts horny and drives all the other annoying orange characters crazy. Starfruit sometimes calls himself smart fruit as he is really smart and even more annoying than the Annoying Orange. When he shows off terrifying ends to other characters that orange doesn't, he shouts out an explosive death from an energy sword. Starfruit sometimes mistreats orange by controlling him with his sword's telekinesis and then kicks him out of different areas. Starfruit is also a friend of the deep pink, yet dragon loving fruit called dragon fruit, who is manly despite being pink.

Dragon Fruit: Dragon Fruit, aka Dragon Master Fruit or Dragon Trainer Fruit is a Chinese Dragon Fruit who is also a Dragon Master and sword wielder who accompanies Starfruit in various episodes of the annoying orange. He has a castle in Europe located in Northeast England which is home to his sword wielding dragons, half-dragons and dragonlords who serve him as their trainer, master and emperor. He is often picked on by Marshmallow, who occasionally influences Dragon Fruit by saying that "Dragon Fruit's Castle and Dragons should be friends with bunnies instead of warriors", but Starfruit defends him from marshmallow by causing explosions that blow up everything in the kitchen by using one of his force attacks called force explosions. Dragon fruit and Starfruit alike tend to hate marshmallow as he tends to have a unicorn who tries repeatedly to kill dragon fruit's dragons. Dragon Fruit and Starfruit alike have more creative minds than the annoying orange characters. 174.65.21.10 (talk) 15:59, 22 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Done, but it still needs citations. pluma 18:30, 22 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I've gone ahead and removed it all. Read through it and you'll quickly realise how dubius it sounds - and it is entirely unsourced. Peter (talk) 00:14, 24 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Excuse me, but these kinds of edits was exactly how this page got protected. Repeated hoaxing and speculation ALL entirely unsourced persistently added to this page. Edit request on 29 January 2012

Please change the following line in the Marshmallow sub-section: "Despite his cuteness, size, and cheerfulness, when enraged by something or someone, he tends to massive damage, both to his friends and to the area around him."

I think it should be changed to: "Despite his cuteness, size, and cheerfulness, when something or someone angers him, he tends to act destructively, both to his friends and the area around him."

Not done How is this necessary? --Bryce (talk | contribs) 03:57, 29 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I think that it's necessary because "to massive damage" is improper grammar. Another problem is that it is also a slang term for "destroy". I think that the use of slang in this context would violate Wikipedia's standard of tone. That is why I think that the edit should be made. 72.137.97.65 (talk) 21:38, 29 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

References!

If you read the first few sections of this article you'll see that it doesn't have enough [[WP:CITE|reliable sources to support the facts. They are all true, I have seen the videos, but the videos should have some references. I shall make this edit now.

SQUASH!

I think it's time the character Squash is added to the list of recurring characters. I would add him, but I don't know enough about the character. BRG1992 (talk) 17:19, 11 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I was thinking the same thing. Squash has been a character. He has appeared a lot of times. He is not minor. Can someone write one? WISEPHAROHPSN (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 13:27, 12 May 2012 (UTC).[reply]

Instead of another picture contest...

Why can't we see older AO episodes animated for the remaining Fridays until September 14? That would be MUCH better than another picture contest! Oh, I've got something even better: Instead of leaving us a stupid picture contest, why can't realannoyingorange upload what the guys are doing on vacation INSTEAD of the picture contest? Then the days until September 14 won't be so boring!
