JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: The Animation (ジョジョの奇妙な冒険:THE ANIMATION, Jojo no Kimyō na Bōken: THE ANIMATION), also known as simply JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is an Anime adaptation of Hirohiko Araki's manga series of the same name, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. Produced by the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Production Committee with animation by David production, it was announced at a July 5, 2012 press conference celebrating the 25th anniversary of the series and promoting an upcoming Hirohiko Araki art exhibition. [1] It was stated that the adaptation would begin airing in October of that same year, and subsequent production art suggested the series would begin with the manga's first part, Phantom Blood, which was later confirmed in the September issue of Ultra Jump along with announcement of the staff and cast. [2] Whether the series will move on to Part 2:Battle Tendency and continue to adapt the subsequent seven parts is presently unknown, however still shots of the protagonists of all eight parts were featured in the original announcement trailer, implying that the series may be intended to adapt them all.

Plot

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure begins in 1880s Britain. During a fierce rainstorm, a theif named Dario Brando is mistaken as a hero and savior of his intended victims while trying to rob a downed stagecoach. In gratitude for this erroneous good deed, the wealthy George Joestar I offers his thanks and upon Dario's death, kindly takes in Dario's orphaned son Dio Brando to live as an adoptive brother to his son, Jonathan Joestar. Jonathan, or "JoJo" for short, who had lived a relatively privileged and spoiled life thus far, has his world thrown into complete turmoil at the arrival of Dio. Dio steals all of JoJo's friends, destroys his relationship with girlfriend Erina Pendleton, and even goes so far as to kill JoJo's beloved dog Danny. Dio hopes to drive Johnathan into despair and humiliation in attempt to become the sole heir to the Joestar family fortune. Eight years later, his plan nearly comes to fruition, and using a Stone Mask in the Joestar's house which protrudes spikes when splashed with blood, Dio nearly succeeds, killing all but JoJo, only to be thwarted. In desperation, Dio uses the stone mask on himself, after learning that instead of killing the wearer, it instead transforms them into a Vampire. JoJo must now learn the ways of an ancient fighting technique called The Ripple (波紋, Hamon) from a man named Will A. Zeppeli in order to channel sunlight into his attacks and defeat the now vampire Dio.
