Revision as of 20:42, 22 April 2013
The Romanian Top 100 is the national airplay-based singles chart of Romania. It is weekly and it started running in 1996. It is recognized as an official chart by the European division of Billboard, Music & Media.[1]
The artist with the most number ones is Shakira with eight songs that reached number one. The positions before 2002 are still unknown except some songs, as the official site only has charts starting 2002. From 2002 to date it has had 120 number-one singles, the longest being "I Follow Rivers" by Lykke Li, for fourteen weeks.
Starting with October 2009, the chart is premierly presented on Kiss FM, each Sunday morning with a delay of a week. Until February 19, 2012 the Kiss FM radio show was presented by VJane Andreea Berghea. Since February 26, 2012, VJ Cristi Nitzu presents the chart, renamed "Airplay 100".[2][3] The compiler of the chart was Nielsen from 1999 to 2010, but from 2010 - ongoing the chart is presented and compiled by Media Forest Romania, a franchise of an Israeli monitoring agency.[4]
The current number-one song as of April 14, 2013 is "Ecou" by Elena Gheorghe feat. Glance, for a first week.[5]
Chart criteria
The Romanian Airplay Chart combines the airplays from six radio stations (Dance FM, Kiss FM, Pro FM, Radio 21, Radio Zu and Vibe FM) and four TV stations (1 Music Channel, Kiss TV, MTV Romania and U TV).[6]
