My name is Andries Krugers Dagneaux. I am from the Netherlands. Interests are cult/cults, Hinduism, science (esp. physics), electronics (component level), chess. I am an avid but not the most accurate reader and I have to admit that my edits in Wikipedia have unfortunately occasionally reflected my reading habits.

I am on wikibreak for one week. Please only make edits that support my POV or otherwise good edits. Andries 08:54, 6 May 2006 (UTC)

Charles Blondin

For your tireless efforts to introduce more balance in Prem Rawat, I hereby present you with the prestigious Blondin Tightrope Award, represented by this image of the amazing Charles Blondin carrying Jimbo Wales safely across the Niagara Falls. Bishonen | talk 21:46, 16 February 2006 (UTC).

Non-English language sources

Strictly confing ourselves to English language sources in the English Wikipedia cripples it. Using only Dutch if this negatively affects the quality of a work has never been acceptable in the scientific and scholarly traditions of the Netherlands. I volunteer to check references in German and Dutch languages upon request. Please join the Wikipedia:non-English languages reference check committee.

Trustworthy editors

I consider the follower contributors good editors whom I trust, though this does not mean that I agree with all their edits. (There are many other good editors at Wikipedia.)

I do not use an ip or sockpuppet to push my POV

My ip at work is 194.178.102.131 10:27, 22 Nov 2004 (UTC). My ip at home is 62.163.36.36 18:20, 22 Nov 2004 (UTC). Before I got a userid I made a few edits under ip user:62.195.88.154. Andries 13:08, 23 October 2005 (UTC)

  • There is a principle which is a bar against all information, which is proof against all arguments and which cannot fail to keep a man in everlasting ignorance - that principle is contempt prior to investigation. by Herbert Spencer Many people would agree with this quote but for psychological reasons, only pay lip service to it (including me sometimes).
  • To explain all nature is too difficult a task for any one man or even for any one age. 'Tis much better to do a little with certainty, and leave the rest for others that come after you, than to explain all things. Isaac Newton

  • One sign of dependence on ideology over data is lack of notes.

  • Whenever there is an absolute truth at stake, the manners become careless. This applies both to the owners as well as their opponents of that truth and to all people involved.
    • Dr. Paul Schnabel in his 1982 book Between stigma and charisma: new religious movements and mental health/Tussen stigma en charisma: nieuwe religieuze bewegingen en volksgezondheid ISBN 90-6001-746-3 (Deventer, Van Loghum Slaterus), page 343.

Re-reading sources

In my experience, it takes a lot of effort to write a good article. Sometimes I think I can rely on my memory of books that I read a while ago but later I find out then some inaccuracies have slipped in. So I really have to re-study the subject to write a good article.

Definitions

I think that concepts for which no clear definitions can be given, like New Age and Anti-Cult Movement are not useful.
