Founded in 2005 Payoneer is an Internet-based financial services business platform that allows users to easily transfer money and receive payments through re-loadable prepaid MasterCard debit cards as well as through transfers to local banks, international wire transfers, local currency paper checks and local eWallets. Payoneer is a registered Member Service Provider (MSP) of MasterCard worldwide. The Company is headquartered in New York City with R&D offices in Tel Aviv, Israel.

Services

Payoneer enables companies to reach business partners and service providers in more than 200 countries in over 50 currencies. By removing geographical obstacles, Payoneer eliminates the limitations that typically surround international business which benefits payers and payees alike. Payoneer is ranked in the top 1000 in Inc. 5000’s Financial Service companies [1]. Payoneer has served thousands of companies and more than two million payees around the world. Among its clients are companies like Google [2], Airbnb, oDesk, Elance, and Fiverr.

History

Payoneer has received venture funding from Greylock Partners, Carmel Ventures, Crossbar Capital and Susquehanna.[3][4][5]

Alternative payments

The company focuses on specific payment solutions, primarly affiliate, mass payments, Local Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT), merchant accounts, and payout programs in countries with underdeveloped banking systems.[citation needed] Many card Issuing Banks issue prepaid Visa Inc. or MasterCard debit cards either directly or through Member Service Providers (MSPs). In order to compete, many of these organizations target specific markets, where they can differentiate their products. Payoneer pursues a number of markets by providing salary and commission payout solutions for industries like affiliate marketing [6] , summer camps,[7] freelancers,[8] direct selling [citation needed] and clinical trials.[9] Payoneer, along with other companies like First Data, Automatic Data Processing and Ceridian, are changing the way people are paid worldwide.[10]
