Redcar Academy, formerly Redcar Community College, is a co-educational secondary school with academy status located in Redcar, North Yorkshire, England.

Headteacher, Mrs. Christine Parker, joined the Academy in September 2011 and in December 2011 the school was granted academy status.

Aims & Values

We will meet the educational needs and expectations of our students and strive to provide the opportunities that all students need to develop their potential through:-

• encouragement to become self-motivated, confident and independent learners;
• the provision of a range of courses appropriate to their needs and strengths;
• continually monitoring and improving the quality of the educational experiences they undergo;
• ensuring a friendly, secure, courteous, supportive atmosphere and environment in which the needs of the student are met;
• encouragement to participate in wider learning, social and cultural activities;
• encouragement to progress beyond their expectations and aspire to develop careers and to access lifelong learning.

On leaving school, Redcar Academy students will be confident, self-reliant and able to judge right from wrong. They will be able to communicate and relate successfully to adults and their peers and be able to contribute positively to our society as responsible young adults.  During their time at Redcar Academy, they will have had access to a range of learning experiences that will equip them for a rapidly changing world.  They will have enjoyed their five years spent in our college.

We will encourage and provide opportunities for all adults working at Redcar Academy to continually update and add to their skills to enable them to increase their professional abilities.

Exam Results

2012-2013

Redcar Academy achieved the following results for the GCSE’s 2012-2013

• 94.2% achieved 5 A* to C grades
• 95.5% achieved 1 A to G grade
• 42.6% achieved 5 A* to C grades including English and Maths
• 24.5% achieved 3 A* to A grades.

Trust4Learning

Redcar Academy is a member of Trust4Learning. Working in partnership with Bydales School, Sacred Heart School, Rye Hills School, Laurence Jackson School, Kirkleatham Hall School, Zetland Primary School and Castleton and Glaisdale Community Primary School to pursue a dream of achieving excellence in all areas of educational endeavour and better meeting the needs of our learning communities.

The vision of Trust4Learning is to unlock the entrepreneurial and creative energies of our communities, by providing unique opportunities for the students and its members as we work in collaboration with a wide variety of Community Partners; Coast and Country Housing, The Centre for Process Innovation, Darlington Building Society, Prior Pursglove College, Redcar & Cleveland College, Teesside University and The Sage, Gateshead.

Our mission is to promote:

• an innovative, inclusive and inspirational education
• social equality and good citizenship
• dynamic and productive partnerships

The Trust was established in October 2009 and students from our academy have been involved in many of the activities. Trust4Learning was re-launched in January 2013 to reflect the wider geographical location of its membership and now represents 4750 learners across Redcar and Cleveland and the Esk Valley.
