The Bhandari are a caste in India who traditional occupation was that of seafaring. They migrated southward from Rajputana in early 1100 and subsequently spread over different parts of India, including Konkan region of Maharashtra - Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, and other Indian states Goa, Karnataka - Karwar. Bhandaris are included among the Other Backward Classes (OBC) in Maharashtra.[1]

They reportedly constitute over 30% of Goa's Hindu population and play a major role in deciding the future of any political party.[2]
