If a duplicate page is submitted. and one of users agrees to request deletion on one of the pages so that the other page and it's content is eligible for publication, is that feasible?

01:42:25, 10 August 2014 review of draft by IllusionPictures

I've submitted the following article, but for some reason it was not accepted for review? Maybe a format issue?

@IllusionPictures: no Declined It doesn't meet our criteria for fiction, which includes television. You need to add more independent reliable sources to make a case for notability. Yes, I would also fix the formatting and change your username. Chris Troutman (talk) 02:10, 10 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

09:28:08, 10 August 2014 review of submission by Zinfandelorganic

I would like to know if (and how) I can upload an image or images to my article whilst it is under review? Thanks

Zinfandelorganic (talk) 09:28, 10 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

New editors are in a kind of limbo when they must await the expiry of certain gating factors prior to being able to upload and include images. Once those expire you may upload images that are suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia, or, more usefully, in Commons
The article is in a state at present where it has been no Declined and a comment has been left on it detailing the reason. There is substantial work to do without getting distracted with picture addition. This is the time to go for substance, not decoration. Fiddle Faddle 11:44, 10 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

16:28:01, 10 August 2014 review of submission by Vfleish

This is my first time creating a wikipedia article, and I am having some trouble formatting the citations correctly. Things like "ignored" are coming up and I'm not sure why. I just need a bit of guidance please!

Vfleish (talk) 16:28, 10 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I have handled almost all of the errors for you. You had omitted the parameter name url= before the http string. One problem remains with a missing title= parameter name, but this is to facebook so is unlikely to be a suitable reference. You also have a direct reference to "amazon.com/gp/product/1611686032/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=1611686032&linkCode=as2&tag= " which is blacklisted. If it is a book use {{Cite book}} and note that the isbn= parameter comes into its own here. We do not ever link directluy to sales sites. Fiddle Faddle 16:37, 10 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I have, by the way, commented this reference out so I could save my work. That is the <!-- some text or other --> syntax inside your draft. Fiddle Faddle 16:41, 10 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

12:04:34, 11 August 2014 request for review by Muvese57

My article about Satair Group was deleted. Does that mean that I have to give up on having it Wikipedia, or can I change something? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Muvese57 (talkcontribs) 12:04, 11 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Your submission was not deleted, it was merely declined (not published yet), and it is at Draft:Satair. Even better news is that the reviewer has left advice on that page about the organisation likely being notable by Wikipedia's standards, and advice for you on how to improve the draft to make its notability clear. Once done, resubmit it. Arthur goes shopping (talk) 12:27, 11 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

13:13:02, 11 August 2014 review of submission by Sianhunter

Hello I am in the process of submitting an entry named Playdale Playgrounds. I was wondering if it was more suitable to be classed as a 'stub' entry rather than a full sized entry. If this is the case please could you tell me the best way to convert it to be a sub?

Thank you

Sian Sianhunter (talk) 13:13, 11 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • @Sianhunter: - The reviewer will make a decision as to what grade quality the article is. I recognise the Playdale name from taking my kids to the swings, so it should have an article. I've assessed it as Start class, meaning there is enough information to inform a reader, but further work is required, such as adding inline citations to sourced content, and fleshing out the company history. 17:36:35, 11 August 2014 review of draft by Salemhistorian

I am trying to write an article on a new subject and every time I try to save it, it gets flagged as potentially having unconstructive edits. What the hell? I wrote it, it hasn't been published yet, so why on earth is it not being saved as a draft? This may be one of the worst processes I have ever encountered for submitting material because there is no way of learning why something is being flagged and the help provided is wholly inadequate. Would you like to ask us something about Draft:DANZ BASE? Arthur goes shopping (talk) 06:59, 12 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know why it was blank but anyway I was wondering if it's possible to get an arcade game onto Wikipedia anymore. The only arcade games that I see that are on Wikipedia were either put on Wikipedia a long time ago when standards were less stringent or if they have console versions. Console versions means reviews on various gaming sites and metacritic. Otherwise according to the gaming notability page, it's almost impossible for an arcade game to be notable enough to be put on Wikipedia simply because media for Arcade games is scarce or non-existant. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bloosteak (talkcontribs) 08:01, 12 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, that would be consistent with Wikipedia's general notability guideline, summarised at Wikipedia:VRS. Arthur goes shopping (talk) 09:43, 12 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I wanted to know why my article on Ducere was declined. I received a message and I wanted to know what can I do to make it better.

Thank you,

If you read the message you received or you read the message above you will see that it points you back to the draft. When you ask questions it is, generally, best to read the answers carefully. Go there, read what has been said, and return here if you do not understand it. Fiddle Faddle 07:35, 12 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

12:48:23, 12 August 2014 review of submission by Mpokeeffe

Hi, I submitted this for review over a week ago. In that time, someone else has created a page of the same person yesterday which has already been approved. I am wondering why this was not approved while the other one was? Many thanks! Mpokeeffe (talk) 12:48, 12 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Mpokeeffee. Most likely the other page was approved first simply because a reviewer happened to see that one first. Arthur goes shopping (talk) 07:11, 13 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

13:33:56, 12 August 2014 request for review by TheRock2014

I am confused as to why my article on County Executive Ed Day was rejected despite the fact that I work as his communications director. Therefore, all the information on him is accurate. Being that he is an important government official, I do not see why he is not allowed to have his own page. How can we fix this issue?

Thanks, TheRock2014 (talk) 13:33, 12 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

TheRock2014 (talk) 13:33, 12 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@TheRock2014: The reviewer left comments on the draft. "Ed Day himself" isn't an independent reliable source. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a website to hang press releases. Since you admit having a conflict of interest, you should not be editing this draft. Chris Troutman (talk) 14:55, 12 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Chris troutman: that is not correct, actually editors with a conflict of interest are positively encouraged to use the Draft space and Articles for Creation, so that material they submit can be checked over by an experienced and non-conflicted editor before entering article space. --Demiurge1000 (talk) 23:35, 12 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

TheRock2014 (talk) 18:20, 12 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello TheRock2014. It appears that the article Rob Astorino was created in 2008, when new editors could create articles directly in the main article space without going through any review process. Arthur goes shopping (talk) 07:08, 13 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I just submitted an article for review but did not realize that it would take so much time to get approved. Hello. Im Therealmjcainglet. Im requesting for assistance. I submitted an article about Justin Lee and someone declined it. Very disappointing. I have construe the details, educational background of that artist, his early career, awards, endorsements, and many more but why? I mean, why still its not acceptable?

What do I need to do? What else do I need to post?

Help me. Thanks— Preceding unsigned comment added by Therealmjcainglet (talkcontribs)

Hello Therealmjcainglet. Articles about people require references to significant coverage in independent reliable sources before they can be accepted. Sources like press conferences are not sufficient for this. You could also check if the person meets any of the requirements in Wikipedia:MUSICBIO. Arthur goes shopping (talk) 09:34, 14 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Draft duplicates

I encountered a project that has added nearly 100 new BLPs (see Category:Wikibomb2014). Some of the pages were created in Draft space, but then (I think) copy/pasted to the main space. I have no clue about AFC, so am alerting people here in case some cleanup is needed (like the duplicate drafts being deleted in due course). What I know about are:

If I notice any more, should I list them here? Johnuniq (talk) 11:00, 14 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Some more above. Johnuniq (talk) 11:52, 14 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I find people are getting fed up with the backlog (and I can't really blame them) and taking their chances in mainspace. I tend to redirect the draft duplicate to mainspace, and then if the mainspace version needs to be speedied per A7, G10 or G11 ... well, that's what draft AfC reviews were designed to avoid! Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 14:55, 14 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Johnuniq: @Ritchie333: Due to, basically, a day long collaboration on IRC, and the hard work of several admins, all of the duplicates should now be cleaned up. The people who were running this project advertised to people on Twitter that if an article came up as 'needing review' to notify them and then would put it live...yes, mainly by cut-pasting. (sigh) What still needs to be done with these is checking them for copyvios (which are rampant), lack of reliable sources, and things like external links in the body of the article, referring to the subject by their first name throughout, and puffery. I'm working my way through the list, and when needed am going to AfD with a suggestion to return to draftspace. This was not a well-planned project. I don't, however, think the backlog had anything to do with it, just a desire to see 'immediate results'. Reventtalk 15:38, 14 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Possibly in this case it was a "publish early, publish often" drive, but I have seen editors duplicate up material in draft and mainspace that is okay - The Beatles' rooftop concert ([1]) for example. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 15:41, 14 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

22:26:47, 14 August 2014 review of submission by Eventhorizon51

What is it about my sources that does not indicate the subject's notability? Are they not reliable enough, or do I not have enough of them? Right now, there are 3 sources in the draft that are independent of the subject, and I personally think they're pretty reliable. What can I do to show that the subject is notable? Mikeandgunilla (talk) 10:44, 15 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

We knew the subject personally. There are published acknowledgements of his work. I have a newspaper interview with him and a recent book which has been dedicated to his memory "Star Carr, Life in Britain after the Ice Age" published by the Council for British Archaeology. Truly an "unsung hero" of archaeology!

@Mikeandgunilla: Please read our instructions on using references and add citations to your draft. The fact the Moore first found Star Carr is already covered.
