Revision as of 18:26, 1 February 2015

Hi! I have nominated the list for FLC and I invite you to review the nomination and suggest improvements, if any. Here is the nomination page. Thanks. -- Sriram speak up 12:11, 10 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Btw, for those films that do not have a reliable source, I have used this source from Sify. However, the film Ooha (film) isn't listed even there. What now? Should I hide it? -- Sriram speak up 12:34, 10 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Btw, you haven't replied to this yet? -- Sriram speak up 11:38, 13 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Since Krimuk raised a lot of concerns with the prose, I have reworked it twice. Pls. take a look and update your comments. Thanks. -- Sriram speak up 17:45, 15 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Hey again! While, waiting for Krimuk's return to the FLC, I read a few existing FLs and have attempted rewriting the prose. You might have to look into it too. Sorry for the trouble and thanks. -- Sriram speak up 18:39, 16 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Two things. 1. Do you have more comments to add to the FLC? 2. The article is shaping up well. But, the FLC needs more reviewers. Do you know anyone else who might be interested in reviewing it? If so, pls intimate them about the FLC. Or, name them so I can ask them for their comments. Thanks. -- Sriram speak up 12:27, 17 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hey! I have started a discussion on the reliability of IndiaGlitz in qualifying forWP:RS, at the noticeboard. Can you spare a moment and comment there? -- Sriram speak up 07:50, 13 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Oops! This was me!! There was a brief power cut and I was logged out. I did not realize it when I made the edit!!! -- Sriram speak up 11:32, 13 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
But I thank you for that edit, for it revived my spirit. And such an edit should not qualify as sock puppetry I hope. Kailash29792 (talk) 11:36, 13 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
If you cannot find a source for that, then don't even include the film. But surely Telugu sources must exist for the film. Kailash29792 (talk) 11:43, 13 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
May have to ask Pavan if he can find any. -- Sriram speak up 12:05, 13 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hey @Pavanjandhyala:! Can you find any reliable sources for this film: Ooha. You might have to look for sources in Telugu since the English search proved futile. -- Sriram speak up 12:25, 13 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Sriram, my search too was futile. Only the full movie is available in YouTube and after having a look at it, i found that Vikram was its antagonist and the film was a heroine-centric one. Pavanjandhyala (talk) 07:37, 14 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Sriram, have you asked Vensatry? He involves himself in almost any field of featured lists. Also ask any Bollywood GA/FA veteran like Bollyjeff or Blofeld. User:Redtigerxyz could also help. Kailash29792 (talk) 12:37, 17 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I did ask @Vensatry:, around the same time I asked you. He said that he need sometime. Btw, I have now requested Blofeld and Bollyjeff too. Fingers crossed! -- Sriram speak up 14:22, 17 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! I was unable to archive a few links as they were reloading endlessly. Can you archive them alone through webcitation? I have filled their 'archiveurl' as zero and shows as an error in the references section. Thanks. -- Sriram speak up 18:17, 1 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I'll do some time later in the day. I doubt how well the FLC is happening, as no other editor seems to have given a "support". Kailash29792 (talk) 18:22, 1 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, take your time. Btw, I haven't resolved all the comments raised by other reviewers. I couldn't find time in the last few days. Once, I address them, I can ask them for their support. -- Sriram speak up 18:26, 1 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I managed to find Universal Hero's sandbox on the film, which is really helpful. Also I found Rediff, Behindwoods and Sify having Sivaji special news links which show all coverage of the film (mainly news about its making and release.). But, I am worried about Behindwoods as Bollyjeff mentioned in the FAC of Chandralekha that it wasn't reliable. What do I do? Ssven2 speak 2 me 10:05, 12 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

You can find more external sources that prove its notability. BTW, I think some recent Hindu paper had a Behindwoods ad. Typically, any news website that has a well-developed Wikipedia article should be considered reliable. Kailash29792 (talk) 12:37, 12 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
This link from Ramachandran's book shows that Rajinikanth could not act in Mudhalvan due to schedule conflicts. I can add that for the film's "origin" portion. Can you find out the right page for it? Ssven2 speak 2 me 04:42, 13 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, by this evening I will. Kailash29792 (talk) 05:28, 13 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Can you send me the info from Ramachandran's and Dhananjayan's book? and also from this book if you have it? Ssven2 speak 2 me 07:02, 13 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Ssven2:Sivaji was the first Indian film to be made in 4k resolution. But, there isn't a single mention of the distinction in the article. Try to add them too. -- Sriram speak up 11:43, 13 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Ssven, please do one thing: take it through good article reassessment; if keep is the verdict, FAC is the next aim. Kailash29792 (talk) 12:36, 13 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Nayagan

Quite an interesting article isn't it? Vensatry (ping) 17:46, 12 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Yep, and so is this treasure. Kailash29792 (talk) 17:48, 12 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Read both! I find Muktha Srinivasan's argument to be more justifiable. Vensatry (ping) 18:14, 12 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Mr. Srinivasan's pain was indeed justifiable but did Mr. Haasan really copied Marlon Brando? I don't think so. But his article came 8 days after Mr. Haasan's and that makes me rethink about its reliability. Mr. Ratnam said that Mr. Haasan did not expect much from this film. I too think that Mr. Ratnam did not expect that both Haasan and Srinivasan would speak about this all of a sudden, that too making his heart attack an uncertainty.

PS : What would've Mr. Srinivasan and Mr. Haasan been if Nayakan was directed by Mr. Ratnam's friends Ram Gopal Varma or Krishna Vamsi? Pavanjandhyala (talk) 10:53, 13 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Then it would have been too brown, political and gory. Kailash29792 (talk) 10:56, 13 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
By whom? RGV or KV? Pavanjandhyala (talk) 11:00, 13 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
RGV of course. Kailash29792 (talk) 11:16, 13 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the reply. If it was KV, three things change. First, Haasan's work in the scene where his son dies may have been much more realistic. Second, Ajith's character would be terrified in such a way that he would shiver like a leaf in wind before shooting Velu dead for each bullet, crying like none. Third, Velu's character would stay alive for few minutes and in that short span, he speaks something to himself which carries the meaning "i want to live" but his behavior makes you feel that he became insane before dying. Sorry if anyone included in this conversation are hurt after reading this, including KV. Pavanjandhyala (talk) 11:49, 13 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
With all due respect to RGV and KV, I must say that these two aren't in the same league as Mani. :) Vensatry (ping) 12:03, 14 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
You are right bro. Mani is a class apart and only very few things between these three match. At least, KV's career slump ended in 2014 with Govindudu Andarivadele. But RGV's career slump may not end anytime soon i believe. Pavanjandhyala (talk) 12:18, 14 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Add Shekar Kapur to the friendship list. As for RGV, except for Shiva (which I think is a great film for a debutante) I haven't watched any of his films. Among the Telugu directors, I like Vamsi very much, mainly for his unique story-telling capability. Vensatry (ping) 18:39, 14 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Manohara (film), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Samson and Delilah (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Fun fact

Did you notice, from 2:13:50 to 2:13:52 in the 1080p HD rip of Sivaji on YouTube. Sivaji goes to Nallur, the same place where the protagonist of Singam, Doraisingam (Suriya) is from. Ssven2 speak 2 me 09:26, 14 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

IBTimes says that the film crossed 400 million mark n ten days. Yesterday, trade analyst Trinath says that the film collected 480 million in its first week. I'm confused what to do. Both are RS but the claims are contradicting. Please advice me ragarding this issue. Pavanjandhyala (talk) 04:36, 22 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Merger proposal

Hi Kailash, i need your help in merging of list of highest-grossing Tamil films to Highest-grossing Tamil films, though i believe list of highest-grossing Tamil films is the correct title for the page but Highest-grossing Tamil films is semi-protected 3 months which makes the former attracting numerous vandalist edits(which is happening currently as you can see it in history) by fans of certain heroes.so, if you know how to do a proper merger can you do it? Thank you! MeeGhaMan (talk) 14:33, 22 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Which page is more highly developed? Tag the less developed page for deletion. Kailash29792 (talk) 16:05, 22 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I used proper deletion tags in list of highest-grossing Tamil films but some one deletes it every time as it is not a semi-protected page..i don't think one page is highly/less developed, because templates of both pages and it's content are duplicates of each other.I think we can retain Highest-grossing Tamil films which is semi-protected for 3 Months and delete list of highest-grossing Tamil films.Thank you! 50th movie of Vikram (Actor)

There has been mention of 50th movie in articles like Vijay_filmography and Ajith_Kumar#Filmography. So why don't you edit those pages? --Vikramkennedyrasigar (talk) 06:52, 23 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Actually VKR (Vikram Kennedy Rasigar), those lists need severe cleaning and reworking. Moreover, they are not featured lists, and therefore cannot be looked upon as references for developing similar articles. Kailash29792 (talk) 06:57, 23 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Kaliash, this date is extremely haunting Telugu cinema. Exactly an year back Akkineni Nageswara Rao died on 22 January. I

Hey! Have you seen I? Actually, I really loved the movie. The visual effects was brilliant, never seen before in any Indian film. But, I think Vikram's performance took the film to another level. Not many actors have the courage to look ugly and do a 8 minute scene in an underwear.—Prashant 06:26, 25 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, I disliked the film for its length, the songs that looked distracting, and the chemistry between the lead pair. Vikram was, however, splendid as the hunchback, but annoying before the deformation. Kailash29792 (talk) 06:30, 25 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Yep! It was quite tiring. A length of 3 hours and 8 minutes is really something hard to digest. Also, the excess detailing stretched its length. Plus, the never ending fight sequences were distracting. However, I loved the background score and the songs. Especially the picturization of "Lady O", "IsaakTaari". Others were very annoying.—Prashant 06:37, 25 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry for disturbing. Was V. S. Raghavan the old doctor who reveals Lee that he has been infected with 'I' virus in the film? Please let me know. And, my opinion on 'I' is five. I - Infectious for Vikram, I - Impressive for P. C. Sreeram, I - Imperfect for Shankar, I - Incomplete for Rahman, and I - Irritating as a film. You know why? Because of worst possible dubbing and bad dialogues cum lyrics with Vikram's dubbing by someone for Lingesan, Lee and Vikram's dubbing for hunchback being the only exceptions. Pavanjandhyala (talk) 11:23, 25 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

(talk page stalker) @Pavanjandhyala: Looked like V. S. Raghavan only and even the voice too resembled much of his. Hadn't Vikram dubbed himself for all the versions? Vensatry (ping) 17:59, 25 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Nope. It wasn't him. -- Sriram speak up 18:08, 25 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Vikram did dub only for the hunchback in Telugu. The rest were dubbed by some other artist who usually dubs for Suriya in Telugu. Pavanjandhyala (talk) 04:46, 26 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
VSR wasn't the one who played the Doc. -- Sriram speak up 10:03, 26 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Pavanjandhyala! The old man who appears in the beginning of this video is VSR. Did the Doc in I look like him? -- Sriram speak up 10:52, 26 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Sriram Vikram: No. After the news of his death, few images were shown which resembled this doctor character and i wanted to be clarified. Thanks for the same. Well, did you watch the film? Did you like it? Pavanjandhyala (talk) 11:38, 26 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
How would I miss it? I am a die-hard fan of Vikram. I did like it for the most part. But, in comparison to Shankar's previous films, this wasn't upto the mark. The story and the treatment were good, but the screenplay wasn't. IMHO, the only drawbacks of the films are the screenplay, the extravagantly over-the-top picturisation which became suffocating after a point and the under-developed characterisation. Nonetheless, Vikram almost managed to make up for the flaws. A guy with incredible acting prowess, he isn't intelligent enough to chose good scripts. He gives way too much importance to his role than the story itself. -- Sriram speak up 12:04, 26 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
The three-hour running time must also have not been too pleasing for you I suppose. Kailash29792 (talk) 12:06, 26 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
No, the runtime didn't bother me. Not really. FYI, even Sivaji and Anniyan runs for more than 3 hours. Btw, I heard that the Telugu version had been edited by more than 10 minutes after the long run-time was criticised. Is that true? -- Sriram speak up 12:10, 26 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
For someone who have seen Thavamai Thavamirindhu, the runtime is nothing!! -- Sriram speak up 12:15, 26 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Poor Kailash! Too many editors stalking his page!! -- Sriram speak up 12:13, 26 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Shankar's previous film Sivaji IMHO was salvaged only by Rajinikanth and nothing else (i am a Telugu person and consider it before any conclusions). Here too Vikram's hard work is the reason behind the film's good BO Performance, i mean a better one if the film apart from Vikram is considered. The scene where Amy throws a coin at the hunchback and his expression despite such thick prosthetic there proved his talent. But one thing, a non linear narration for a film of 3+ hours should not be encouraged, especially for a "thriller" like this. And the Telugu version has not been trimmed. Pavanjandhyala (talk) 12:16, 26 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
And one thing, it is true that many are stalking this page. But that makes everyone share their opinions and build good relationships here of course. Pavanjandhyala (talk) 12:16, 26 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
True. For a plot as simple as this, they could have made it work better with a chronological narrative. They could have ended the first half with the cliff-hangar of Vikram's faked accident, explaining the conspiracy and Vikram's retribution in the second. That way, the first half could have been fun and enjoyable. Also, it would have lowered the people's expectations. The suspense in the second half could have worked in their favour. -- Sriram speak up 12:26, 26 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I liked the film though it wasn't as good as Anniyan, which I thought was a very good effort. Vikram's character was even more pitiable than his role. ARR's BGM was not upto the mark. Dialogues are no longer sharper in Shankar's films after the demise of Sujatha. Above all, Shankar's obsession for white-skinned ladies continues. And yes, Vikram is not intelligent enough to choose films based on scripts like Kamal. He gives more weightage to his role rather than anything. If the set up of NFA jury is somewhat like Hollywood, he is sure to get the award. But sadly it won't happen for roles like this in India. Vensatry (ping) 08:18, 27 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hope this recharges you after hitting "thank" button during the GAR of Chennai Express (and also for my rare edits on Mayabazar) Pavanjandhyala (talk) 17:26, 30 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Honestly, i begin everyday at Wiki start working on Mayabazar but when i see the collected refs, i got only one idea - and that was "the article would have these sections: In the media, Film Adaptations, Legacy". No BO figures, no absolute facts about production and that kills my interest. But i am sure that i will pull it off soon, somehow. Pavanjandhyala (talk) 17:28, 30 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the coffee Pavan (though I don't often drink coffee at this time of then day) and you can find more Telugu sources to expand Mayabazar. Kailash29792 (talk) 17:32, 30 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Wanted to give a beer. But i am a non alcoholic, thus avoiding using it here too. Telugu journos did not give much about that film. Will find if any exists. Pavanjandhyala (talk) 17:34, 30 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
