EU Business School (formely European University) is a multi-campus private business school with headquarters in Switzerland. It operates campuses in Switzerland (Geneva and Montreux), Spain (Barcelona), and Germany (Munich), and an executive facility in Yvorne, Switzerland.[2][3]

History

EU Business School was established in Antwerp in 1973 by Xavier Nieberding and in Brussels in 1982 by Dean Dominique Jozeau.[4] The current president is Dirk Craen, UNESCO Chair in International Relations, Business Administration and Entrepreneurship.[5]

Academic programs

EU Business School offers English-language business education programs. Programs are classified at undergraduate and graduate level and include bachelor's, masters and doctoral degree programs in Business Administration (BBA, MBA and DBA).[6]

Undergraduate and graduate programs are proposed in many disciplines, including Communication & Public Relations, Leisure & Tourism, International Relations, Sports Management, Business & Sustainability, Business & Design Management, Family Business Management, Business Finance, Digital Media, Business Administration (BBA), International Business, International Marketing, Global Banking & Finance, Entrepreneurship, Leadership, E-Business, Human Resource(s) and Reputation Management.[7][8][9][10]

In addition to undergraduate and graduate programs, EU Business School also offers Executive BBA (EBBA), online master's degree in International Business and Doctorate Programs in Business Administration.[11][12][13]

EU Business School offers dual degree programs with the Nichols College in Massachusetts (USA), Shinawatra International University in Bangkok (Thailand). In 2013, the school received a provisional accreditation from the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) for a dual BBA with the Jesselton College (Malaysia).[14][15] [16][17][18][19] In addition, EU Business School offers business school affiliate programs in South East Asia and Russia. It encourages students to participate in inter-campus exchanges in Spain, Switzerland, Germany, UK, Russia, Kazakhstan, Taiwan, China, USA, Malaysia and Thailand.[20][21]

Accreditations

Since 2015, the school offers students the opportunity to complete a U.K. state-accredited Bachelor of Arts in International Business degree awarded by the University of Derby [22][23] as well as a U.K. state-accredited MBA and MSc in International Management degree awarded by the University of Roehampton.[24] Both diplomas obtained together with University of Derby and Roehampton programs are state accredited in Germany with a H+ mention on Anabin.[25] EU Business School also developed a joint program with state accredited universities such as PACE University (New York) and Fisher College (Boston) offering students two distinct bachelor's degree.[26][27]

In January 2011, EU Business School campuses in Switzerland, Spain and Germany received International Quality Accreditation (IQA) from the Central and East European Management Development Association (CEEMAN) .[28] This accreditation was renewed in 2015.[29] In November 2014, EU Business School received certification from EduQua, the Swiss Quality Label for Adult and Further Education Institutions.[30]

Business programs at the Swiss campuses of the EU Business School have also been accredited by the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education (IACBE) since March 2010.[31][32][33] Programs accredited are the Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Communication and Public Relations, Global Finance and International Business, the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), the Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Public Relations and the Bachelor of Arts in International Relations.[34]

Business programs at the four campuses have been accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) since 2009.[35][36][37][38][39]

In January 2013, EU Business School became a sponsor of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services of Geneva.[40]

EU Business School Switzerland is member of the Swiss Federation of Private Schools,[41] the Geneva Association of Private Schools,[42] the Lake Geneva Region Swiss Private Schools Association.[43]

EU Business School is member of The Academy of Business in Society (ABIS),[44] the European Council for Business Education,[45] and the European Foundation for Management Development.[46]

EU Business School Barcelona is member of the Hispanic Association of Colleges & Universities.[47]

Quacquarelli Symonds

In 2015, EU Business School Spain was ranked 2nd out of 46 in the Quacquarelli Symonds Best ROI for European MBA Programs.[48] The average salary uplift after completing a master at EU Business School Spain is 138%. It is the second lowest program fee with an average 23 months payback period.[49]

EU Business School ranked 3rd in Switzerland, behind IMD and the University of St. Gallen in the QS Global 200 Business Schools Report 2013/14. The rating provides an overview of selected business schools by over 2,000 employers who actively recruit MBA graduates.[50] The 2013/2014 QS Report, ranked the EU campuses from Spain, Switzerland, and Germany at the 33rd position.[51]

In 2013, EU Business School ranked 8th in the QS Top MBA list of Women at Global 200 Business Schools.[52]

In the 2011 QS Report, EU Business School's Spain, Switzerland, and Germany campuses were ranked at 39.[53]

In 2010, EU Business School's Spain campus was ranked at 52 out of 67 in the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) rankings for European business schools.[54]

CEO Magazine

In 2015, EU Business School's MBA program came in joint-first position for the Global Top 20 rankings and the online MBA program ranked number one for global online rankings. In the meantime, the on-campus MBA program was part of the top tier European MBA rankings and the executive MBA made it to first tier in the global list.[55][56]

In 2013, EU Business School was elected top tier European MBA program and second tier Global EMBA program by CEO Magazine’s International Graduate Forum.[57][58]

Other rankings

In 2011, Capital Magazine elected EU Business School as the 6th best business school in the world for female students.[59]

In 2010, EU Business School ranked in the top 50 most social media friendly international MBA schools.[60]

Campus

EU Business School has campuses in Geneva, Montreux, Munich and Barcelona and a set of worldwide partner institutions. All campuses follow an identical curriculum taught in English allowing students to easily transfer between different countries.[61]

Classroom EU Business School Barcelona

The Geneva campus is located five minutes away from Lake Geneva and a few kilometers away from the French and Swiss Alps. The city is home to United Nations and World Trade Organization offices to name a few. Campus offers a library.[62][63][64]

The Montreux campus is located in the center of Montreux, an area known for the Montreux Jazz Festival.[63]

The Munich campus is located close to the city center in the capital of the southern German region of Bavaria.[65] Courses are delivered through state-of-the-art facilities. On-demand access to ProQuest is available for students.[63]

Corridor EU Business School Barcelona

The Barcelona campus is located in La Bonanova, ten minutes away from the city center. All classrooms are equipped with SMART boards and access to ProQuest e-library comes on demand.[63][65]

All campuses are equipped with WiFi and computer suites.[63]

Sustainability

EU Business School Montreux is a signatory of the Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME), United Nations-supported initiative to inspire responsible management education, research and thought leadership.[66][67]

EU Business School offers a Certificate program in Corporate Social Responsibility together with the International Labour Organization.[68]

Green Cross International received the 2014 Sustainability Award from EU Business School.[69]

In 2012, EU Business School launched a Bachelor of Arts in Sustainability Management.[70]

EU Business School is an institution member of the “Consejo latinoamericano de Escuelas de Administración”.[71][72]

Honorary degrees

In 40 years of existence, EU Business School awarded 24 honorary doctoral degrees. Holders of such a degree include Nick Hayek Jr., Gérard Dubois, Abel Gyozevich Aganbegyan, Alexander Vinokourov and Steve Guerdat among others.[73][74]

On June 25, 2014, Doha Bank's CEO, R. Seetharaman was awarded a PhD in Global Governance,[75] as was former President of Switzerland, Adolf Ogi, once invited by the school to the United Nations for the launch of his book Dolf Ogi: Statesman and Sportsman.[76][77][78]

On June 27, 2015, Brian Cookson was awarded a Doctor of Civil Laws degree, Honoris Causa from the EU Business School.[79]

Marketing initiatives

EU Business School is the educational partner for the "Crucero Business Networking" (CBN) project. CBN is a combination of education, entertainment and networking.[80][81][82]

In 2013, EU Business School awarded the Corporate social responsibility award to Make-A-Wish Foundation Spain in 2012 [83] as well as the FC Barcelona Foundation.[84]

In December 2013, EU Business School participated in a student welcoming event organized together with the government in Sarrià-Sant Gervasi's neighborhood.[85][86]

In July 2014, EU Business School held a TEDxBarcelona Event called "New World" with 8 guest speakers sharing their vision about the future of society, architecture, medicine and technology.[87][88]

Marc Guerrero, EU Business School's Cross Cultural Business Issues professor, member of the Democratic Convergence of Catalonia and vice president of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe, published a book called "Rebooting Europe" in December 2013. It is an optimistic essay regarding the future of Europe, discussing how Europe has become a society torn between the values of the past and the uncertainties of the future.[89]

EU Business School is part of the "Atypical Partners" for the Montreux Jazz Festival.[90]

In January 2015, EU Business School hosted the Swiss Economic Forum Kick-Off Romandie Event in Yvorne.[91][92]
