Dream Warrior Pictures is an Indian film production company based in Chennai. It was founded in 2010 by brothers S R Prakashbabu and S R Prabhu, who were partners in Studio Green during 2006-2013. Also they are relatives of the veteran actor Sivakumar and cousins for actors Suriya and Karthi. They are prominent producers and distributors in South India.

History

Dream Warrior Pictures first produced Saguni (2012) starring Karthi and Pranitha, it was a box office hit. Initially producers shot the film with Salim Ghouse as villain, while watching double positive, they felt for the change of villain and re-shot the entire portion with Prakash Raj as villain.[1] After Saguni, they have started their next production and the movie is titled as Kaashmora (2016), which is the high budget film in Karthi's career. Karthi, Nayanthara,[2] Sri Divya, Vivek are the protagonists in Kaashmora.[3][4] This movie turns out to be a historic-horror-comedy flick (multi genre), directed by Gokul, whose previous movie was Idharkuthane Aasaipattai Balakumara and music is composed by Santhosh Narayanan.[5][6] Kaashmora involves huge VFX work with CG footage amounting to close to 70 mins.[7] Producers confirmed that Kaashmora will be released both in Tamil and Telugu languages for Diwali 2016 (October).[8][9]

Studio's next project was titled as Joker (2016), directed by Raju Murugan, whose previous was Cuckoo, Guru Somasundaram is the protagonist of the Joker movie.[10][11][12] This movie emphasis the necessity of toilets for all rural homes. Even the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has addressed this issue. Hence medias are asking Prime Minister to watch the film.[13] In the movie, protagonist thinks himself as The President of India.[14] Joker explores different side of me, says Guru Somasundaram.[15] The Superstar of Indian Cinema Padma Vibhushan Rajnikath praised the Joker team for making the movie.[16] Joker won the Tamil Film competition of 14th Chennai International Film Festival held in January 2017 at Chennai.[17][18][19] Also the film won couple more awards for Best Dialogues and Best Production which is conferred by Ananda Vikatan.[20]

Simultaneously, the Company started producing another movie titled Aruvi (2017), which is an Eco Social Drama, directed by Arun Prabhu Purushothaman. The Team had been hunting for lead artist through all social medias.[21] Aruvi made its International Premiere at Shanghai International Film Festival in June 2016.[22] Producer S R Prabhu says, We are so much proud that Aruvi has become one of the best films produced under our banner.[23] Alongside Aruvi, Kootathil Orthan (2017) is also started which is directed by Gnanavel, his debut movie.[24] Ashok Selvan and Priya Anand are doing the lead roles in this movie.[25]

After Kaashmora, Aruvi and Kootathil Oruthan, the production house is producing Karthi's next movie titled Theeran Adhigaram Ondru and Suriya's 36th movie (which is yet to be titled), cast and crew is to be finalised for both the projects.[26][27] Shoot for Theeran Athikaram Ondru will start by Jan 2017 and Suriya36 would start by Feb 2017.[28][29][30] Also, Dream Warrior Pictures is eyeing for an International co-production for their project The Sunshine, which is written by Leena Manimekalai and Antonythasan Jesuthasan, to be directed by Leena Manimekalai.[31][32][33] The Sunshine was presented in 2016 Film Bazaar co-production market.
