Ankur Garg (born 6 April 1982) is an Indian entrepreneur. He is the founder of iForIndia.org, a social organisation which enables citizens to rate their elected representatives on various performance metrics.[1] He is also a partner and producer at Luv Films.[2] Interested in Governance, Politics,[3] Technology[4] and Bollywood[5] he holds views[6] on various aspects of these areas[7] and is often invited as a speaker and panelist to various events and discussions.[8][9][10][11][12][13]

Early life

Garg was born in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, where he received his education. He did his Bachelor of Engineering (Information Technology) from the University of Pune and a management development program at IIM Ahmedabad.[14] During college, he interned at GE Capital, Stellar Information Systems, and Perot Systems.

Career

Garg started his professional career in 2005 with Datamatics Global Services, Mumbai and worked on one of their key projects for Inmarsat. Same year, he was offered a position at the Hyderabad campus of Microsoft India (R&D) Pvt Ltd, where he worked for almost 5 years. He graduated from a Microsoft leadership program that enabled him to work in various different roles and teams across India and the United States. Garg was also instrumental in running various different initiatives like the Microsoft Annual Giving Campaign, Technical communities etc. at Hyderabad campus.

In August 2010, Garg moved to the Microsoft India Sales Marketing & Services Group. He was offered a role of Lead[15] – Customer & Partner Experience for Microsoft India based out of their Gurgaon office. In this role he worked with hundreds of important Microsoft India customers and partners.

Garg quit his 7-year long association with Microsoft in September 2012.[16] As his first new commercial venture, he started a film production house known as Luv Films with Luv Ranjan. He then launched a social organisation iForIndia.org to drive accountability in Indian politics in August 2013.

Stellar Information Systems, a company for data recovery solutions and services, has appointed him as their advisor for new businesses. Garg is also a digital advisor and strategist to various public figures and brands.

In 2016, Garg produced a sitcom Life Sahi Hai[17][18][19][20][21] that was released on YouTube and Facebook.

He is currently producing upcoming untitled film, being directed by Luv Ranjan starring Kartik Aaryan, Nushrat Bharucha and Sunny Nijar. His next production is an urban rom-com starring superstar Ajay Devgn directed by Akiv Ali and produced by him and Luv Ranjan.[22][23]

Awards and recognition

While at Microsoft, Garg was awarded a number of key awards for individual as well as team excellence. In September 2013, he was awarded REX Karmaveer Global Fellowship and the Karmaveer Chakra awards instituted with The United Nations. On its 35th anniversary special in June 2014, Mid Day listed Garg in their list of 35 achievers under 35 to watch out for.[24] Garg has been covered and quoted in various media publications like Hindustan Times, The Economic Times, Forbes, and The Indian Express among others.

Personal life

Garg is primarily based out of Versova, Mumbai. He, however, prefers to divide his time between Delhi and Mumbai.
