;Description
: Quite by chance, I've discovered that including the link [[MOS:BOLDAVOID]] in an edit summary triggers an abuse filter. If links are removed from the bold face reiteration of the article title and the edit summary does not include the link, it's not flagged (eg [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=2005_Monaco_Grand_Prix_Formula_Three&diff=prev&oldid=863275629]). If the edit has nothing to do with links in bold text, but the link is included in the summary, it is flagged (eg [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=G95&diff=prev&oldid=863273255]). So the filter seems to be a search for that link in the edit summary and nothing more. If I see links in the bold face reiteration, I remove them, and I put a link to the relevant guideline into my edit summary. I think that this is exactly in accordance with all policies and guidelines on how articles should look, how to edit, and how to help others follow the guidelines. It seems bizarre and wrong that edit filters are being used to flag this as abuse, doesn't it?

You're trying to move a draft to the Wikipedia namespace, which is intended for information on Wikipedia policy and not articles. Drafts should not be moved to the main article space, except by reviewers when the draft has been accepted.
You removed the {{AFC submission}} template while editing your page, so I readded it. If your draft is complete, please mark it as such using the 'Submit your draft for review' button at the bottom of the box. LynxTufts (talk) 15:43, 3 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@MStockCH: The filter just warned you that the edit was possibly malformed. It still allowed it to go through so no further action is needed. LynxTufts (talk) 12:51, 4 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, thanks for the reply and the explanation. I saw that my edit was successful, but was a bit surprised by the warning message. MStockCH (talk) 19:08, 4 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Relevant to this: Wikipedia:Edit_filter/Requested/Archive_10#Warn about broken proxies. @Zzuuzz: Is MediaWiki:Abusefilter-warning really the right warning message for this filter? Seems rather WP:BITEy and confusing IMO. Suffusion of Yellow (talk) 23:09, 4 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Suffusion of Yellow: Unfortunately this filter remains necessary, though it could always use a little work. I've implemented a new warning: MediaWiki:Abusefilter-warning-malformed. Feel free to suggest changes. -- zzuuzz (talk) 19:34, 5 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@MMEKEL: The filter only gave you a warning about not providing an edit summary because unexplained content removal tends to get reverted as vandalism. Indeed, that's exactly what happened, and two users, Kirbanzo and Ifnord have undone your changes, so it's best now if you discuss the changes at Talk:Southern Illinois University School of Law if that happens again. When I made these edits [1][2] I got a big warning message saying I was adding citations to a predatory open access journal and asking me if I was sure I wanted to proceed with the edit, this happened on both edits, It did let me make the edits, but why was it warning me not to add unreliable sources when I was removing references and not adding any? @Tornado chaser: The filter isn't checking for removed_lines, and the line you were editing still contains a doi=10.4172 from another reference. @JzG: Perhaps we need a:
!(removed_lines irlike "doi[ ]*=[ ]*10.(1234|1999|2495|4018|4172|4236|5897|11648|15373|17265)")
in there? Suffusion of Yellow (talk) 21:30, 7 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I know nothing about the code used for edit filters, I just know that the predatory journal filter is not supposed to discourage removal of such journals. Tornado chaser (talk) 21:34, 7 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Tornado chaser: There were two links to predatory journals on that line, and you only removed one of them. The filter should have noticed that, and not issued the warning, and the fix I suggested to JzG (ping didn't go though the first time for some reason, so trying again) should prevent any more false positives of this type. Suffusion of Yellow (talk) 21:40, 7 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. @Tornado Chaser:, you probably didn't recognise the name Tomljenovic, but any paper written by her is not reliable. She has no qualifications relevant to vaccines, but writes anti-vaccine papers anyway. Guy (Help!) 21:44, 7 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@JzG: Your welcome, that name sounded vaguely familiar from something I read on respectful insolence once, thanks for reminding me who that is. (I did end up removing that too cause it was in a predatory journal). Tornado chaser (talk) 21:55, 7 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@ZI Jony: The one edit that wasn't revdelled (Special:Diff/862891725) looks like clear vandalism to me. Are you saying that the filter should have stopped those edits, but didn't? WP:Edit filter/Requested is the place for that. Suffusion of Yellow (talk) 19:39, 8 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
