The Angry Birds Movie 2 (or simply Angry Birds 2) is an upcoming 3D computer-animated action comedy film produced by Rovio Animation. The sequel to the 2016 film The Angry Birds Movie, it is scheduled for release on August 16, 2019 by Columbia Pictures.

Voice cast

Production

A sequel to The Angry Birds Movie was announced in August 2016.[3] It will be directed by Thurop Van Orman, co-directed by John Rice, and written by Peter Ackerman. John Cohen will return from The Angry Birds Movie to serve as producer, with animation again handled by Sony Pictures Imageworks.[4] Sony Pictures Animation was originally going to co-produce the film, but has since dropped out of the project.[5]

In April 2018, the majority of the voice cast was announced. Sudeikis, Gad, McBride, Hader, and Dinklage will reprise their roles from the first film. Jones will voice a new female villain.[6][7]

Release

The film is scheduled to be released on August 16, 2019, to mark the 10th anniversary of the release of the original Angry Birds game. The film's date was moved ahead three times, from September 20, 2019, to September 6, 2019, and then August 16, 2019.[8][9][10]
