Draft:Ishani Sengupta

Hi Praxidicae,

I got your message. Would you please advise if I need to add more reliable sources on the article? I have declared COI on my page. Do I need to mention it elsewhere as well?

Thank you for speedy deleting

Hi it is about Globitex World I was just doubting his skills, looks like well versed about Wikipedia which I still don't know, so please get his checked via IP checking because its a clear spam or single purpose account and could be a sock. Thanks. I saw your page and edits, you are amazing, you deleted and edited so many articles. Thank you I will ask you next time to review my pages before I create, I hope you won't mind and help for free. Thank you again. Adrian L.55 (talk) 20:04, 12 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Suspicious

Large chunks of the disputed edits here come verbatim from here, without attribution. The editor in question knows a hell of a lot about formatting and more arcane WP practices than most two-day-old accounts. I see some suspicious overlap here, especially given that the old account was blocked for copyvio. Grandpallama (talk) 18:28, 13 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Can you explain which "sources can be considered reliable for a child"? Is "Times of India" not reliable to you? Please explain.FlyIndian14 (talk) 14:26, 14 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

It has absolutely no coverage of him and no, TOI is not to be trusted, go read the discussions at WP:RSP and WP:RSN. Praxidicae (talk) 14:27, 14 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
You only tell what is written there as a common user can't understand such long rules in a short time.FlyIndian14 (talk) 14:30, 14 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Then don't edit WP:BLP in mainspace. Incompetence isn't a reason to accept shoddy work. Praxidicae (talk) 14:32, 14 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Why can't you help the users doing some good work in creating and improving articles instead of always deleting, declining etc. Editors like You should also co-operate with the users.FlyIndian14 (talk) 14:36, 14 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Because I can't make reliable sources appear out of thin air. If they do not exist, I can't do anything about it. Stop telling me what I should do and focus on learning how to properly edit Wikipedia. Praxidicae (talk) 14:37, 14 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
It's not our job to edit Wikipedia. We dedicate some good time to a article so that a article that is notable should get it's due and By The Way how much research you did to clearly say that there are no reliable sources. If these sources are not reliable, then more than 90% articles from Wikipedia should be deleted.FlyIndian14 (talk) 14:41, 14 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
FlyIndian14 It's not anyone's job to edit Wikipedia, including me, please stop the lecturing and go read WP:BLP and WP:V. Praxidicae (talk) 14:42, 14 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Respected Editor, If it's not your job, then who gave you the right to delete the article created by work of many.FlyIndian14 (talk) 14:45, 14 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
For a final time WP:BLP and WP:V are policies. That is what gives me the ability to redirect an unsourced or poorly sourced BLP, especially that of a minor child. Praxidicae (talk) 14:46, 14 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

RE: Speedy deletion

Greetings! Today I wrote my first article on the anglophone Wikipedia, and it was sent to speedy deletion by you. I would like to know if the main problem was just the unambiguous advertising or notoriety, because I inted to rewrite the article and republish it. I am a very experienced editor on the lusophone Wikipedia and would like to have a similar reputation over here as well. Thank you! Bad Boy97 (talk) 14:57, 14 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

(talk page watcher) @Bad Boy97: This is not the Portugese Wikipedia - your edits here are expected to conform with our local policies. You should read WP:NPOV, WP:RS and WP:GNG, at the very least. -- a they/them | argue | contribs 17:02, 14 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Alfie: I know it isn't the lusophone Wikipedia (the right term to be used), reason why I came here and asked for Praxidicae's insight. Bad Boy97 (talk) 19:39, 14 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

(talk page watcher) @Adamshahin: Praxidicae does not owe you a response to your messages, and repeatedly pinging her is not going to encourage her to respond. Looking at your draft, I can see the rationale in the decline message still applies. Please follow the links and familiarise yourself with our policies and guidelines before you try to submit again. However, since the subject of your article Draft:Ahmed Alneaimy does not appear to be notable, I do not see your draft getting accepted. Adamshahin First, do not speak to people on my talk page in this manner. My decline was clear and concise. Read it. Mull it over and find better sources. Recommendation about LendingPoint

Hello, Praxidicae. I happened to click "Recent changes" today, and I saw your large deletion of content from LendingPoint right at the top of the list (only a second or two old), and so I looked at what was happening there. Wow! It took maybe 15 seconds to see that this article has been taken care of (since its inception) by paid communications consultants and public relations representatives. And yet, here I am, thinking that I might want to try to "rescue" that article and make it conform to a true Wikipedia structure. (I have no affiliation whatsoever with LendingPoint, any of its subsidiaries, or suppliers.)

I conceive of a few different approaches that someone like me could take. One way would be to remove 95% of the text and just start from scratch. Another way would be to go through the article one sentence at a time, removing content that had no sourcing (or weak sourcing, like press releases) if a suitably proper source could not be found for the content. A third way would be to just back away slowly and forget about it, because why would I want to help LendingPoint have a good and compliant article on Wikipedia?

Do you have any advice on this? (P.S. You may remember my User name from a bit of a "run-in" I inadvertently reacted to yesterday with another editor, disagreeing with how I had "Draftified" a seemingly self-promotional biography by a budding young Contemporary Christian music artist. I promise, I'm not stalking you -- your edit literally came up at the top of my check of Recent changes.) - AppleBsTime (talk) 22:15, 14 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

(talk page watcher) @AppleBsTime: In all honesty, I don't expect this article would survive AfD once you've stripped out the press-releases and other crap sources. There's just... no meat to it. -- a they/them | argue | contribs 08:53, 15 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I and the creating editor have a difference of opinion on reliablity of the sources in the article being discussed. There are 'competing' source assessment tables. Your thoughts are usually incisive. I make no case for either opinion. Fiddle Faddle 09:30, 15 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for coming to Wiknic Midwest 2020!

Hi Praxidicae! Thanks for attending the Wiknic Midwest breakout session today! I hope you enjoyed it, and if you're interested in continuing to chat with others about local Wikimedia organizing across the US, look no farther than Wikimedians Active in Local Regions of the United States (WALRUS). WALRUS has calls twice a month – to get the invitations, shoot a message to Pharos. And, of course, always feel free to leave me a note if I can be any help. Hi Praxidicae. Relating your this revert, the anonymous user had came back and added the same content. Besides, he or she added extra promotional first party sources which was mentioned on the talk page. It seems like the user only wants the promote this prosedure, spesifically, the doctor. Can you please do something? Because I am really tired of that situation. Regards.--Nanahuatl (talk) 04:56, 17 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of Kojo Yankson

Hello Praxidicae,

Pleased to make your acquaintance. I am messaging about the deletion of the page "Kojo Yankson". I am new to Wikipedia and still learning the navigations of this platform so to be honest I did not really understand the reasons for deletion. Kojo Yankson is one of the most prominent radio hosts in Ghana and hosting one of the most listened to morning shows, The Joy FM Super Morning Show, which he has been doing for 4 years. The show has been running since the year 2000 and all the past hosts for the show have Wikipedia pages (Komla Dumor, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, Francis Abban, to name a few). He was also listed as of the 100 most influential people in Ghana so it surprises me that you say he is non-notable, maybe I just need to understand why you say so. There are radio hosts with much smaller shows and followings that have Wikipedia pages so I'm thinking that maybe I just didn't create the page properly. I also just saw that there were previous versions of this page that were deleted in 2015 on the same basis but I can understand that because it had only been a year since he began. In current times however, he has gathered a faithful following and is quite well known in Ghana. He also does news anchoring and reporting on one of Ghana's top news outlets, JoyNews. Currently he is one of the top paid journalists at Multimedia Ghana which owns Joy FM and JoyNews because he hosts their flagship show. However there are less known journalists of Multimedia that have Wikipedia pages. Multimedia Ghana owns many of the well listened to channels in Ghana (TV & Radio) and so Kojo Yankson being a top member shows the value the company places on him. This convinces me that it was probably how I went about creating the page that was the issue. I created a draft and submitted it for review and then when I learned I could publish after 4 days I went ahead and did. I didn't realize that that annoys the reviewers. My sincerest apologies for my novice behaviour. I would really appreciate your input and help on how I can properly recreate this page and what I can do to prevent another deletion. I would also like for you to point out to me the specific points in the article that were considered non-notable so that I can correct or improve them. The interface of this platform still confuses me a little so I would really appreciate the assistance. Thank you so much for you help and patience.

Not moving page titled Jasraj again. However, it is incorrect...and highly sensitive today

The article is about an eminent Indian Classical singer popularly known as "PANDIT JASRAJ". He has died today and I expect that a lot of music lovers will visit this page. They will not like to see "JASRAJ" as the title as it is considered an insult to address th:is eminent musician simply by his first name Jasraj. The popular and "appropriate" title is JASRAJ. To quote from the policy you mentioned, "There are some exceptions: Where an honorific is so commonly attached to a name that the name is rarely found in English reliable sources without it, it should be included. For example, the honorific may be included for Mother Teresa." Swapnil (talk) 14:24, 17 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

His fans feelings are irrelevant to Wikipedia. We do not put titles or honorifics in article titles. Praxidicae (talk) 14:24, 17 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, go make your case on the talk page, then. It's been a GA for years and the article has been at Jasraj for years. You can't make sweeping changes without consensus. Praxidicae (talk) 14:30, 17 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Making my case again, as you directed. 1: The page may have existed for years without including "Pandit" in the title. So, that's valid but how many people need to ask for this change and which channel can be used for it, in order for you to accept this change. 2: To quote from the policy you mentioned, "There are some exceptions: Where an honorific is so commonly attached to a name that the name is rarely found in English reliable sources without it, it should be included. For example, the honorific may be included for Mother Teresa." I think "pandit" comes under that category. 3: "Sentiment of fans" may have come out completely wrong. The change I am asking for is in keeping with the traditions of the Indian Classical Music. It is insulting to call him "Jasraj". If you don't understand the Indian context here, I welcome you to refer this case to someone familiar with the Indian culture. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Swapnildixit (talkcontribs) 14:36, 17 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Swapnildixit do it on the talk page of the article not my talk page. You cannot get consensus on my talk page. Praxidicae (talk) 14:38, 17 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I'm feeling pretty lost on something. I see [2] you placed a redirect and said "restore redirect". That history shows there was never a redirect. You then threatened to request a block [3] for basically undoing your redirect, making it seem like the redirect had been there for a long time. Something is wacky and I'm not sure what it is. Help? Hobit (talk) 04:42, 18 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Food porn
Hobit, Look a bit further into the article's history and you'll see the redirect. I PRODed the article way back and meant to take it to AfD, but forgot. It should be a redirect unless better refs appear. However, I think Praxidicae was a bit bitey on Hazelslettering's talk page. She needs mentorship, not a block, IMHO. --Slashme (talk) 04:51, 18 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I'm still lost. It was changed from a redirect with this edit [4] back in 2019 yes? It has been an article since. I'm fine with a PROD or shipping it to AfD, but this feels off. Also concerned by the single-purpose account jumping in. Whole thing just feels weird. Hobit (talk) 05:09, 18 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I guess "restore redirect" was probably intended to mean "I restored the redirect that was there a while ago instead of this dodgy article" while you took it to mean "I restored the redirect that has recently been removed", which would clearly have been disingenuous. Whether Hogohit is an SPA or not remains to be seen: it's still a very new account. --Slashme (talk) 07:29, 18 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
it was hijacked. Period. By multiple SPAs who are blocked. What is the issue here? Praxidicae (talk) 11:25, 18 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Praxidicae, FYI posted a COI notice to their page. Nick has given a formal warning about their editing. Glen (talk) 11:51, 18 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Request for Comment

Hi Praxidicae,

I am very grateful that you have been helping me learning about Wikipedia overtime, sometimes by critical feedback or discipline actions. (that's when I learn it the hard way.) But I genuinely respect your efforts and teaching.

I recently put out a Request for Comment to ask people's opinions regarding the upcoming features for WikiLoop DoubleCheck, with respect to levels mechanism of its reviewers. I assume this could potentially be controversial and I want make sure it's design in the right way. My guts feeling is that you have been reviewing edits (with your own approach and tools). You might provide a very good angle to spot some flaws in the proposal. I like to leave you a very personal message soliciting your comments. Deletion request for pages and media created ny Gaurakshat1

I don't know how to edit this really, till date I have not received any compensation for any of the pages I have edited, Ayaz Ismail as he is my friend and consider him like my brother, I am nephew of Harish Sharma (author), Nirmika SIngh is also a friend if I receive any monetary compensation, I will not hide this, all my edits have been really honest and genuine, request you to please take them back and restore as created. I nominated a couple of BLPs on non-notable figures for deletion yesterday, but they were prematurely closed by a user. I believe the BLPs do not meet GNG and could be paid job. What your opinion on my nominations? --Saqib (talk) 13:34, 20 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I don't agree either but I'm also not in a place right now to deal with any fall out from it. Praxidicae (talk) 14:45, 20 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Is there a discrete way of dealing with UPE that does not involve being accused of outing or aspersions Keeping my opinion to myself about this instance. --Deepfriedokra (talk) 14:50, 20 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Upe is not ,AFAIK, a deletion criterion. My problem with UPE is it often results in poor quality (as opposed to high quality) ARTSPAM. --Deepfriedokra (talk) 14:52, 20 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Saqib: You need to either provide convincing evidence, or drop your accusations of paid editing. I'm in possession of some disturbing off-wiki material that suggests you are engaged in a campaign of harrassment against another editor, so I strongly suggest you keep away from them and from their contributions to Wikipedia. If there's any problem with their contribitions, leave it to someone else. (I'm actually very tempted just to block you for harrassment right now, but I'm holding off as others are investigating the same off-wiki material.) (I've struck that part, as it is not a fair comment at this point) Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 14:59, 20 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I understand tensions are high around this and I haven't got a clue what evidence there is but may I ask that this conversation happen somewhere that isn't my talk page? If I came across at least one of these articles while doing NPP (which in fact I did, but skipped over), I'd probably have nominated Wrenn for deletion myself but it's a moot point. I don't want to get any further involved in this. Thanks for understanding. Praxidicae (talk) 15:06, 20 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Boing! said Zebedee: I did not sent any e-mail to Memon KutianaWala and never had any off-wiki correspondence with him, either. I'm waiting for you to share with me the "disturbing off-wiki material". E-mail me here. --Saqib (talk) 17:01, 20 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Whats your opinion with this?

I was checking the page Dinesh Sudarshan Soi, and in the page the reference which looks most reliable, actually seems like a Paid section of Hindustan Times, if you check the Link you can see the Disclaimer at the end of the article. which clearly indicates towards the ref being a puff piece. and rest references too looks like a part of churnalism, What say!? Hello, once again! I have another question I'd appreciate you could answer this time. Because one is nothing but an advert and the other has actual sources. Also read WP:OTHERSTUFF. If the other article should be deleted, nominate it for deletion. Promotion

Sorry, but why is this promotion if I am using official source to cite at least ONE author that is addressing this topic? If you want, then I can cite official sources from academia, which is actually used in this nice summary by Davis. I really ask you to reconsider you speedy undo and give the update article (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pressure_point) another try OR I will do it. LS (talk) 15:33, 26 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Do not reinstate the content. We have strict policies on WP:OR and WP:V. Citing some random person in the field isn't suitable and is promotion. Praxidicae (talk) 15:33, 26 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
And it's not compliant with WP:MEDRS. Praxidicae (talk) 15:34, 26 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Please help restore Thomas DeMark page

Hello Prax, I'm a novice Wiki user and was referencing Thomas DeMark while trying to help create a new Wiki page for a company of his that didn't already have a Wiki. I didn't mean or intend to make any changes to Thomas DeMark. Will you please help me restore the page? I understand the text I used for Symbolik was from their website and could've been interpreted as promotional so I'll have to read more before creating a Symbolik wiki page.
