November 15th?

What's the source for the ending date? Most places (and what I've always believed) say the last broadcast episode was Goodnight Mr Bean in October 1995. Hair by Mr Bean of London was (originally) a video-only episode, was it not, so where's the 15th November date come from? BillyH 00:12, 27 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Good point, the "Hair by..." episode was a video exclusive; the article always used to have the earlier date of "Goodnight". I can only assume the November date was the video release that people have got confused by. Please feel free to change it. Bob talk 17:25, 27 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Editors don't always get the gag...

"Although Teddy is inanimate, Mr. Bean often pretends it is alive"

The gag may be on the audience... the show never discusses whether or not Teddy is actually sentient as Mr. Bean appears to believe or not... I believe that's part of the joke, i.e. the jokes on us... we're not supposed to know... and we don't. Is Teddy really alive? He could be. Then again, he could be just a stuffed animal. We never see Teddy move onscreen, but that doesn't necessarily qualify Teddy as "Inanimate" per se. It certainly does seem to the audience that Mr. Bean is only "pretending" that Teddy is alive. However, as I said, the joke could be on us. 107.147.68.11 (talk) 05:10, 29 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

107.147.68.11 Hi, it's unclear what change you are proposing. A reminder that talk pages are not for general discussion of the subject, they are for discussing specific changes. Thanks. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 13:02, 29 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I guess I should have made my suggestion more clear. Because the plausibility of sentience of Teddy is totally ambiguous in the Live Action episodes, (I'm don't know about the cartoon, and I'm not comparing that character of Mr. Bean to this Mr. Bean.) I am proposing that the article somehow relates the concept of that ambiguity. I apologize for not stating that more directly. By "ambiguous" in this sense I am using this definition: "unclear or inexact because a choice between alternatives has not been made." 107.147.68.11 (talk) 14:15, 29 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Is it really a "sitcom"?

I see Mr Bean more as a series of short films than fitting the "sitcom" paradigm. I wonder if the opening paragraph could find a better description? Don't want to rock the boat but it doesn't seem right to call it a sitcom. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.197.120.213 (talk) 18:23, 5 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I think you make a fair point, but quite a lot of people do refer to it as "sitcom", although some sources talk about it simply as a "comedy". It is quite a difficult one to label. Dunarc (talk) 20:20, 31 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Number of episodes inconsistent over article

Info box: "No. of episodes: 15)

Intro text: "The sitcom consisted of 16 episodes [...]"

Episodes-Section: "All 14 episodes of Mr. Bean were produced by Tiger Aspect Productions"

May a Bean expert clear this up. Best regards, IP 92.231.216.1 (talk) 09:52, 25 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Teddy

@92.18.17.61: please read Wikipedia's policy on verifiability, and note particularly its fourth sentence: "Even if you're sure something is true, it must be verifiable before you can add it." Verifiable means that the claim is published in a reliable, secondary source, such that any reader could review the source and verify that the claim is true. Your anonymous assertion of employment with the production company and appeal of personal knowledge does not satisfy verifiability.

Since you work with Tiger Aspect I suppose you probably know where to locate such a source and could add it to the article to verify your claim. In the interim, I did research from my uninformed position and only came up with a succession of published articles indicating that Mr. Atkinson donated the actual Teddy to the Teddy Bear Museum, which then auctioned it for £180. It seems to me that it would not have received such treatment were it an inauthentic toy, as you claim.

Please locate and add published reliable sources which verify your claims, or do not restore the claims to the article again. Thank you. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 12:14, 15 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Other appearances - Duplicate content

The entire content of the "Other appearances" section is also located on the List of Mr. Bean episodes page. This should be cleaned up, but I'm not sure if it should be through a merge or by keeping the pages separate. 199.102.241.221 (talk) 19:32, 15 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The pages should be seperate. Like the section 'episodes' on the Mr. Bean page a short summery is given and then linked to "the list of Mr Bean episodes' page. Same should be done to the 'other appearances ' section. But first I will check if the content on both pages is the same. Lobo151 (talk) 19:59, 15 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Possible mental illness

The character may represent a person with Asperger syndrome or schizoid personality disorder --2402:1980:141:AD9C:BC84:9157:8B1:DCBB (talk) 11:18, 19 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, probably.--85.23.113.91 (talk) 14:23, 27 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Mr. Bean or Mr Bean?

The official publicity uses British English punctuation: that is, "Mr Bean", without the full stop. I intend ask for this page, as well as associated pages such as Mr. Bean (character) and Mr. Bean (disambiguation) to be moved to punctuation-less equivalents, but am open to persuasion otherwise. Bazza (talk) 09:50, 20 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The original title cards in the series and in the films and also the film poster it is stated as Mr. Bean No need to change the pages in my opinion.
@Lobo151: Do you have any references for those? Bazza (talk) 13:40, 22 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I will check. But the main photo on this article is a title card from an episode. You can see Mr. Bean Lobo151 (talk) 06:30, 24 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

While it does look like the recent marketing website misses out the '.', every promotional item from the time it was produced in the 1990s has 'Mr.' - if you do a Google image search for 'Mr Bean VHS' or the 1993 book Mr. Bean's Diary for example. As Lobo15 says, the most compelling reference is the screenshot of the titlescreen of the programme which is at the top of the article. Bob talk 07:54, 24 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
All of the live action episodes have the fullstop on screen. Only more recent materials (like the cartoons and the website) have "Mr Bean". But the live action series seems to be the primary focus of the article, so maybe on that basis it should remain "Mr. Bean". But maybe someone with more expertise in Wikipedia standards would be better placed to advise. — Smjg (talk) 15:23, 18 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Mini colour scheme

Mr Beans Mini colour scheme copied that of my Morris Mini 850 Super Delux reg: GWC324. I owned this car from 1970 to 1973. The only difference would be the additional bumper bars. The Super Delux had the heater as standard! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.21.15.48 (talk) 16:50, 11 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Nice, that would cost a few Bob, today 21C117 (talk) 20:19, 28 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
