Summary of Video games WikiProject open tasks:

I would like to say that I've found Pherae and Lycia in Homer's Iliad. I believe it is a reference, as Hector is also a hero in the Iliad. Coincidence I think not. Will someone add this because I'm too lazy and I'm new to this.--Darkfeline 23:20, 8 February 2007 (UTC) One note (although very minor...) in the photo of the game's box, the Nintendo Seal says "Official Nintendo Seal of Quality". I have this game, and if I remember correctly, the seal on it says only "Official Nintendo Seal", as far as I can tell from seeing other games, the shorter version was adopted by Nintendo sometime in mid-late 2003 in the US. Perhaps this was a prerelase box or the European box? (I see no other differences besides this minor detail.) Y0u 02:49, Mar 25, 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Probably prerelease. Definitely not Euro box. Euro box has Nintendo logo on left bottom corner, USK and PEGI logo on right bottom corner. Besides, in Europe, the Seal is round and says "Original Nintendo Seal of Quality" (and in Fire Emblem's case, is on the back of the box). --Wwwwolf 09:15, 30 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Having spent much more time here, I've seen many game boxes with RP ratings. It seems that using prerelease boxes is very common here, although this is probably not the best place to discuss this. Anyway, thank you. You 01:41, Jun 3, 2005 (UTC)

If people are just looking to add the chapter names, this list has a bunch which can be simply imported (being from a wiki also under the GPL).

A list to start, some description may be added later. Y0u 13:17, Dec 24, 2004 (UTC)

That Zany Erik

In regards to that trivia I just deleted, you can compare the maps yourself. Server is really slow, so they may take awhile to load.

Note

In a few days or so I would like to start adding pictures of the characters to the article. I hope to improve the quality of the article by doing this. If anyone wishes to contact me to ask questions or whatnot please feel free, Derktar 04:04, July 30, 2005 (UTC).

I will help copyedit and stuff. If you manage to do this too, i'll give you a barnstar!!--Zxcvbnm 02:28, 1 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
In that case I will get right on it! It will take some time, but it should be done, before Wednesday of next week Derktar 05:28, August 1, 2005 (UTC).

Merge links

There are many merge links to this article, and the articles to be merged should be put on VFD. Lyndis has a large character description that should be merged to this page.--Zxcvbnm 02:40, 1 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I know nothing about Fire Emblem but looking at the size of this article, I firmly dissagree. Olleicua 20:47, 20 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I think that Lyndis page should not be merged since she is one of the main character and her page could be larger than other characters, I will try to get the complete biography and some pictures.

I'd prefer to separate this article instead of merging it with another one. A category Fire Emblem: Blazing Sword could be created and it would have one article for the game, another for its characters, etc. --ren 00:59, 20 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Just keep it the way it is. It's fine with me. However, if you're giving that big a page to Lyn, why not do the same thing with Eliwood and Hector? The other characters could get their own pages too...--Unknown Shadow

The portraits cannot all be used on the same page because of the limit of one screenshot per article according to copyright rules. In order to use the images of the characters' portraits, each character must have his or her own article. Furthermore, the Fire Emblem (Game Boy Advance) article is really long and might benefit from being split into separate articles. Jecowa 07:10, 31 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Classes section...

The information in the classes section really isnt encyclopedic, it reads like a GameFAQs guide. If no one objects in 48 hours, I intend to delete it.

Personally I think we should have a seperate article on the different classes seeing as they link to the wrong articles currently. Derktar 01:44, August 10, 2005 (UTC).
Hmmmmm, maybe so.--Zxcvbnm 02:21, 10 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Reed Portraits

The Reed brother portraits are under the wrong names ._. Someone might want to fix that. Might do it myself later if I get around to it.

Oops sorry about that, been awhile since I played and I mixed up the Reeds. Same problem with the other 5 characters listed without portraits, I forgot what they looked like and can't find out anywhere, going to have to replay the game I suppose. Derktar 22:41, August 10, 2005 (UTC).

Edits

I've helped clear up the article as of 08/26/05... I removed the support, classes and the chapter list section since they were not needed. The article claimed supports were exclusive to this FE, but if anybody had played other Fire Emblems, they would realise they aren't. So, I hope it's better now.

Lyn friends section

I think that the Friends section in Lyndis page should be removed, because in the page of Fire Emblem: Blazing Sword there is already info about those characters as well as pictures. At least delete all the mini-descriptions in Lyn's page.

As a matter of fact there is a merge notice where that info should be merged into this article.--Zxcvbnm 21:00, 23 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use

There are a lot of copyrighted images in the article which are either under no fair use rationale or deeply flimsy ones. I suggest that y'all consider which are needed, as I plan to start deleting most of them. --Maru (talk) Contribs 02:55, 10 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

They are video game screenshots which can be used under fair use. They are all over the web. If you delete them I will revert them back.--Zxcvbnm 03:19, 10 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
What fair use? None of them have rationales. Even if they did, the use to which they are being put fails Fair Use criteria several ways. Go read Wikipedia:Fair use. --Maru (talk) Contribs 03:28, 10 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Sonia dies.

Sidequest not taken-

Nergal: This is strong quintessence, and
Nergal: yet you say you killed him?
Nergal: You are quite...
Nergal: ......
Sonia: Um...
Sonia: What is it, my lord?
Nergal: Your side...
Nergal: Are you injured?
Sonia: Oh, yes.
Sonia: When Brendan resisted,
Sonia: he...
Nergal: I see...
Nergal: He wounded you.
Sonia: Lord...
Sonia: Lord Nergal?
Nergal: I've no need for a
Nergal: defective puppet.
Sonia: Pardon?
Sonia: Pu-Puppet?
Nergal: Sonia, you're a
Nergal: failed work.
Nergal: You're no match for
Nergal: Limstella in any way.
Sonia: !!
Nergal: Disperse.

And then she flashes red and disappears or something, it's been ages since I saw it for obvious reasons.

Sidequest taken-

Sonia: ...I am...
Sonia: ...hu...ma......
Sonia: .........

She died.

She was dying when you left, Limstella showed up and she expected her to take her quintessence, Limstella left after telling her she was a morph, and she died. Saying she didn't die because you don't see her explicitly fade away or something is just as stupid as saying that the FF6 Memento Ring's description of 'Departed Mother's Love' means that the mother went away instead of dying.

And as for Athos...

Athos: Eliwood...
Athos: Hector, Lyn...
Athos: I've lived a long, long time,
Athos: but now...I'm done.
Athos: Do not grieve. Soon, I will be
Athos: with long-absent friends.
Athos: ...I have no regrets.
Athos: Let me give you a
Athos: parting gift...
Athos: As I lay dying...
Cutscene Text: Eliwood
Cutscene Text: Lord Athos... Even at the
Cutscene Text: end...he thought of us...

And all his ending says is that he died in a foreign land and those who saw him thought he had found peace or some such. Amazingly enough, he died in Valor, a foreign land. And.

Cutscene Text: Lyn
Cutscene Text: ...Look, both of you.
Cutscene Text: Lord Athos... It's almost
Cutscene Text: as though he's smiling.
  • Whuh? Whuh? All I saw was Sonia, wounded, but very alive, shouting to L********a (I dare not speak the name of EEEEEEEEBIIIIIILLL!!!!!!!) that she was human. (She's not, but who are we to ruin the fun? :)) And Athos? Oh, look, a tired old man exhausted afer a grueling battle. HE MUST BE DEAD!!!!!!! Ahem..not... All he seemed 100% sure of was that a.) Brammimond would outlive him, and b.) both would be gone in 20 years. EO
Shouting? She can barely talk! The entire scene-
Limstella: Sonia.
Sonia: ......Lea--
Sonia: Leave me...
Sonia: ...accursed puppet...
Sonia: Lord Nergal...
Sonia: ...Aah...help...me.
Limstella: Puppets have no
Limstella: essence to harvest.
Limstella: You no longer have
Limstella: any use to Lord Nergal...
Sonia: What!?
Sonia: ...What...did...
Sonia: What are you...
Sonia: I am human......
Limstella: ......
Sonia: Wait!
Sonia: ...Urrg!!
Sonia: ...I am...
Sonia: ...hu...ma......
Sonia: .........
Also, 'very much alive'...? First she gets attacked by Brendan and then your team defeats her directly afterwards. 'Dying' is a far more appropriate term, if you want to put a stupid optimistic spin on it then 'barely alive' is the best you can accurately do. Why do you think she trails off at the end of the scene anyway?
Your thoughts on Athos, meanwhile, aren't even worth answering. He says outright that he is dying several times. But of course since he's a 'tired old man' he must be suffering from some sort of mental illness that's making him think incorrectly! --Dark Twilkitri 07:22, 4 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • What is this? Pick On Belgium Week? (Code Lyoko reference) Sonia... I am not denying she was very much injured, but I always pictured her trying to yell at Limstella during that scene. Maybe I'm just bats. Athos seems like the type to assume the worst so... unless the creator of the game phoes you and says "THEY DIED YOU FREAK" then go with my version. Cheers. EO
Comment: You are supposed to use Eliwood to kill the dragon. But since the game doesn't upgrade him until very late in the game, it's almost impossible. Thus, nearly everyone uses Athos to kill the dragon. The exertion from this great battle is the last straw for Athos. Unfortunately, Intelligent Systems didn't expect so many people to use Athos and so they inserted the "foreign land" blurb. SoaP 16:52, 23 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Add references...?

What exactly do they expect us to cite!? --Dark Twilkitri 03:56, 5 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Story section

It needs to be fixed, but not deleted. Game info also needs to be added outside of the story, as well as real-world info.--Zxcvbnm 12:16, 25 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I know. But I don't quite know how to fix it myself without spending an hour or so on it, so I just wiped it off. Sorry. It's better to have no section at all then a sloppy/unpolished one. Feel free to add it again if you must. --'Ivan 12:37, 25 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I agree that the story section needs a lot of work, as well as most of this article. I'll be going through some of the old stuff to salvage a more condensed story summary after I'm finished with the Sacred Stones page.Axem Titanium 02:46, 3 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
This page is missing a story of any kind - that's not better than it having a poorly written one. When copyediting this, I had no idea what the name of the protagonist was, why he Lyndis found him unconscious, why he helped her in her quest, or what her quest even was. At least when the storyline is there, however poorly written, it can be edited by anyone without too much confusion. Without that section, none of the characters' stories make any sense. :) RandyWang 02:56, 3 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I will clean up this article!

Please do not delete this article, I will (on my spare time), do a complete overhaul on the article! Fellow wikipidians, please don't worry if sections get deleted, I will replace the old text with wikified text.

Rebuild

I suggest you rebuild what 'Ivan deleted. As a result of the edit by 'Ivan, the article looks stublike, so I added the stub markers, Template:rpg-cvg-stub and Template:strategy-cvg-stub. There is some of the lost stuff I do not consider unencyclopedic. Decimus Tedius Regio Zanarukando 01:52, 7 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Christ, if it's that bothersome, just revert it. --'Ivan 12:40, 8 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

1st off, Citations

For all statements that need to be cited, please put citations where needed and I will try to find good sources.~SamusFan80 (8:04pm MT, May 29, 2006)

Limstella's defeat

As I remember, the corruption of Limstella's body had nothing to do with her defeat; Nergal only said something like "I have given you power never before seen on this continent; however, your body will corrupt before tomorrow, as it cannot take the amount of energy. But that's how you wanted to die, isn't it? Serving your master? (Smiling evilly)" (Not a literal quote, but the essence of it.) If it had negatively affected Limstella's performance out in the field, Nergal wouldn't have done it; he isn't a fool. Her body corrupting IS NOT something that happens in the field, as far as I can tell; I'll remove "her body is so full of quintessence that it's corrupted, and she's finally defeated." unless there's a consensus that this isn't a misinterpetation of the game script or original research. Just seems weird to me. 71.198.181.226 16:40, 12 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well, yeah, the corruption of her body is not the essence of her defeat (I remember taking 129 turns on that level and not once did she drop dead for no apparent reason). The point is that she's just a useless pawn to Nergal (as is everything else). SoaP 16:46, 23 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Other than Plot Info...

There is virtually no information on things like the overall concept of how the game works (the turned-based strategy, the weapons/magic triangle, the fact that if a character dies he/she is gone for the duration of the game, etc.). I think some of that stuff needs to be added, but before I do so I want to check with people to make sure that's okay so I don't do it without reason and have it deleted quickly. Forgive me if this info is already found in a different article like the Fire Emblem series or if it somehow doesn't belong here. Jjam189 16:15, 6 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

move to "Fire Emblem: Blazing Sword"

I belive that bracketed titles should only be used when no other title (exculding varations of spaceing or similer varyation styles) are useablethis is not the case for this artical, So is there anyone that agrees with this? Deuxhero

...you mean parenthetical titles? Also, please sign your comments by adding four tildes (~) to the end of your message. Anyway, as much as I would like that, I'm afraid that it would cause too much confusion to casual players searching for this game to be confused when they redirect to a page with "Blazing Sword" in the title. Axem Titanium 02:35, 27 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You would need to be blind to miss the english box art there Deuxhero 22:57, 27 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Meh. I would prefer if you maintained proper capitalization if you do move it (e.g. Fire Emblem: Blazing Sword rather than Fire emblem: Blazing Sword). Axem Titanium 15:12, 28 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A Mess!

It says nothing about the actual combat system or anything besides the storyline. SoaP 16:43, 23 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Armads

Armads, as it stands, is not worthy of being a stand-alone enclyclopedia article. Either merge it back into the main article, expand it, or delete it. Sanguinity 18:04, 6 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I apologise for the lack of content. I don't think that it needs merging just yet...I'm not finished making it. I had to leave unexpectedly in the middle of writing it...sorry. SoaP 19:49, 6 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Armads is not capable of being a stand-alone encyclopedia article. Any non-game guide information it contains would easily fit into the story section of the main article. Axem Titanium 20:01, 6 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Overlong story section.

The description of the game's narrative is entirely too long and needs to be trimmed down. At its longest, it should only be two paragraphs that cover the most important aspects of the plot. Also, more emphasis needs to be given to the game's play mechanics. A good example of what I'm talking about is in the Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance article, although I believe that that particular article needs to have its character section drastically reduced. --Hailinel 02:06, 17 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
