Jimbo's page

Hmm well it may not be the browser's settings, but I can definitely see the script properly. It's the same with any of those foreign scripts - depending on browser or computer capabilities, a lot of scripts will show as question marks. It might be the version of Firefox you're using - I've got 1.5.0.1. You can change it back again if you like, I won't complain, but I think it'll be up to Jimbo to decide if he wants it in the long run. Thanks, FireFoxT • 11:44, 17 February 2006

Removal

I was referring to the actual removal from the WP:RFA page, a nice bold action :-). Durin is just doing some cleaning up of the subpage after the fact. NoSeptember talk 08:39, 18 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

UPA Judge

Hi NSLE/Archive 6! You've signed up to be a judge for the Esperanza User Page Award! You'll have three user pages to examine. The user pages you get coincide with your signup number. So if you signed up to be a judge in spot 1 than you will get nominations 1-3. Pick your favorite one, and list it in the finalist section. After all 5 judges have chosen a finalist it's time to award them 1-10 points in the four categories:

  • Attractiveness: general layout, considering colour scheme and/or use of tables if applicable
  • Usefulness: links to subpages or editing aids, helpful information
  • Interesting-ness: quirky, unique, captivating, or funny content
  • General niceness: at the judges' discretion

Please remember to include Subpages in your judging criteria. See the Scores section on this page for additional information on your job as a judge.

Keep in mind that your scores are confidential! Email [[User:{{{1}}}|{{{1}}}]] with your scores and final picks. As soon as all the scores have been tallied, a winner will be announced! Thanks.

And here are the userpages for you to examine:

  1. Jimbo Wales
  2. Blankfaze
  3. Sango123

Thank you --Banez 12:32, 18 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I want TP for my buthole. no, wait, i meant for my comments, haha

Can you do something about my Talk Page? If I'm not supposed to be aloud to edit it yet, can you erase all DA-related stuff? Thanks a bunch, man... ps: sorry for the bad Beavis pun.

My Welcome

I'm not getting any traction on the manifesto, i'll probably need to go back to the newbies sometime this week if things don't change. Sorry, my friend. I followed your advice, and I gave it a shot, but I have to do what I have to do. If I can't do it without newbies, then I will involve newbies. They're being thrust into the bullshit anyway, I got another talk page message today by one who I think was victimized by the system. Karmafist 16:12, 19 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The RFA, That's A Good Point

You're absolutely right, I totally forgot about that, and it probably would hurt things so there isn't any real need to hurry on the petition, I can wait until after the RFA. Once again, thank you for your friendship in looking out for me, a lesser person would have just said "Whatever, Karmafist", but you care about me, and please know that I would do the same for you and support you in one form or another no matter what. Thanks again, Karmafist 15:56, 20 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Kind reminder from the UPA overseer

The five finalist user pages have been finally listed on the UPA page. Please don't forget to take the time to evaluate them and send me the results by email using the e-mail layout provided. The results will be published as soon as all judges have submited their results. Thank you! -- Rune Welsh | ταλκ 14:53, 21 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

User:E-Series

Can something be done about this user? Most of their contributions have been complete nonsense, and it is really annoying several users. This person's talk page shows the frustation of many users, including yourself. Could the user be blocked for a bit or something, just so the person realizes how annoyed everyone is getting? Thanks for anything you can do. Hurricanehink 17:22, 21 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

FYI, he's making sneaky changes to yours and other's comments on his talk page. I've reverted... hopefully that was the Right Thing to do. — Kimchi.sg | Talk 20:25, 21 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
That user is at it again, he put nonsense on my page (which I deleted), I already warned him (or her or them). Storm05 20:07, 2 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My (new) RfA

Hi NSLE!

Just a quick note to express my appreciation for your change of vote at my RfA. Unfortunately, it looks as though are large number of opposing voters have appeared and I would be extremely surprised if my new RfA passed... which is fairly disheartening considering that I was around 1 hour from succeeding last time!

In any case - it has been an interesting experience - one thing I can take from it is that someone with a clear thought process should learn to control the focus of their views. As I am wholly unable to pretend I do not have a clear POV, I doubt I will apply for adminship again. It seems fairly clear from this second submission that I am better off sticking to what I do best!

Anyway, many warm thanks for your support, and don't hesitate to give me a shout if you ever need my assistance for anything in particular.

Regards, DJR (Talk) 19:30, 23 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No

I only moved them to the talk page. I never "blanked" them. --Revolución hablar ver 01:45, 24 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

With apologies for the impersonal AWB-ness of the message... Thanks for your support on my recent request for adminship. It passed at 91/1/0, and I hope I can continue to deserve the community's trust. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help you, and if I make a mistake be sure to tell me. My talk page is always open. (ESkog)(Talk) 02:20, 24 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Spoilers

I've deleted your revision that had the spoilers in the edit summary. Since future revisions still took your changes into account none of your changes were lost. NSLE (T+C) at 02:02 UTC (2006-02-24)

I'm sorry, I got used to using summaries that I went a bit too overboard. I won't do it again. BTW, how did You change the way Your date is displayed? Eddie 03:41, 24 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I Have No Idea What Barnstar To Give You

NSLE, my gratitude to you is beyond a barnstar, so I honestly have zero idea knowing how to thank you, both for the rfa nom, and the friendship beforehand. I also am wondering if I should respond to the opposers using refs and notes similiar to Aaron Brenneman's re-rfa. I think they've just misunderstood things like all of us have over the past few months, and i'm wondering if it would just make things worse if I tried to bridge that gap now. Karmafist 15:35, 24 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

Hi NSLE, thanks for blocking that IP for me. :)

RFA

Thank you, my friend. Ultimately this RFA is just like my run for local office this spring: for fun, experience, and a chance at destroying miscommunication in these collective communities(both Merrimack and Wikipedia). A note from the Admin Coaching coordinator

Hello, coaches. As you can see, there is a significant backlog at the Esperanza Admin Coaching program. Since we do not want users to have to wait forever to get assigned, I'm asking all of you for a status report. If you feel that you are done, that your coachee is not active enough, or that you could handle the extra load from another coachee, please tell me in my talk page as soon as possible. Thanks! Thanks for agreeing to coach me for mop-holding status. I've started a subpage of my talk at User talk:Redvers/Admin Coaching for us to co-ordinate at. I hope you find this helpful! I've started by asking a tough question, but it's one I think I could learn a lot from (if it isn't impossible to answer!).

Why you reverted my edit?

Hello, I want to know why you reverted my edit in the Current events about the cease of National Unification Council. I think we should call Chen Shui-bian as "President of the Republic of China" instead of "Taiwanese president". And more, in Chen's viewpoint, his announcement didn't break his "4 noes and 1 without". Please give me a good reason about your revert. Thanks. --Theodoranian 08:54, 28 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

--Theodoranian 10:26, 28 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I don't know that you can't read Chinese. Today, I just passed by and I found something wrong, so I corrected it. Hope you can understand what I said. ^__^--Theodoranian 11:19, 28 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

sorry for misunderstanding again. haha....--Theodoranian 11:49, 28 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Why revert the edit on WP:SG!

Hello NSLE, when User:Natalinasmpf was on her RFA, her name was also added to the list with the bracket (on RFA). Doesn't this show some kind of biasness to Tdxiang?? --Terence Ong 11:55, 28 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The Moratorium's Over

this says it all. You're my friend, and you'll always be my friend in one way or another, but if you get in the way of me having an opinion, I will ignore you and everyone else to the point that eventually the Cabal drives me off Wikipedia, because my only apparent crime is going against their group think, and that's not a blockable offense, but they'd love to do so anyway.

Your questions

Thanks for your questions, I think you had some very well worded questions there, I've copy/pasted my answers below for your convenience. Tawker 01:08, 4 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Questions from NSLE:
The following are hypothetical situations you might find yourself in. I'd like to know how you'd react, as this may sway my vote. There is no need to answer these questions if you don't feel like it, that's fine with me, (especially if I've already supported you ;)).

  1. You find out that an editor, who's well-known and liked in the community, has been using sockpuppets abusively. What would you do?
Communication, I would post on WP:AN and in IRC. I would also leave a note on their userpage and try and determine if there is a rational reason for what is going on. I would not act offensively without due reason
  1. While speedying articles/clearing a backlog at CAT:CSD, you come across an article that many users agree is patent nonsense. A small minority, of, say, three or four disagree. Upon looking the article over, you side with the minority and feel that the article is salvagable. Another admin then speedies it while you are making your decision. What would you do?
I would make a note on the other admin's talk page with a link to a sandboxed copy of the page, I wouldn't re-create or re-post without figuring out what is going on. Wikipedia is about consensus, not power trips.
  1. You speedy a few articles. An anon keeps recreating them, and you re-speedy them. After dropping a note on their talk page, they vandalise your user page and make incivil comments. You realise they've been blocked before. What would you do? Would you block them, or respect that you have a conflict of interest?
I would ask another admin to have a look, blocking users who I have a clear conflict of interest with would be inappropriate.

Thanks for voting

I'd just like to take a moment to thank you, NSLE for voting in my request for adminship regardless if you voted for or against me. Seeing some very valid concerns, I've pulled the RfA until some of the concerns can be addressed. Thanks for your comments, I'll use them to help better myself -- Tawker 02:22, 4 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion review on Mucky Pup

I've started a deletion review on Mucky Pup. I would appreciate your comments there, as I've only just noticed that you've tried to delete the article twice before. I could find no listings for it in the candidates for speedy deletion or PROD listings, and there never was an AfD discussion on the article either. I've stated my reasons on the review page, and would appreciate hearing and debating yours, as I stringly believe you've acted in error in this deletion. Block

I don't see how this warrants a block, even a short one. Is there something I didn't catch?Voice-of-AllT|@|ESP 04:48, 6 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Perhaps the comments were out of line, but I don't think that they constituted a personal attack, per WP:NPA. I think that I am pretty liberal with NPA blocks, I hand them out quickly and swifty.Voice-of-AllT|@|ESP 04:53, 6 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I can't approve of this block either, NSLE. I think you should take a deep breath and unblock. —Bunchofgrapes (talk) 05:00, 6 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I will not unblock someone who has made a persoal attack against me. It's just for an hour anyway. You are free to unblock if you wish, I won't reblock (I don't do wheel wars), although I strongly feel the block was rightly applied. NSLE (T+C) at 05:02 UTC (2006-03-06)
I have unblocked. I believe you are wrong about the block being rightly applied, here's why: Blocking policy does not permit blocking for simple violations of WP:NPA. Personal attacks which place users in danger, yes. Disruption, yes. But single instances of personal attacks: no. There are good reasons for this: one is that it can be hard to judge whether something is a personal attack; different people may have a different opinion regarding the same edit. —Bunchofgrapes (talk) 05:09, 6 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I will block for "FUCK YOU BITCH" with one time, but that is just the IAR in me. An ambiguous, inderict attack by negative action descriptor can never warrant and instant block. Anyway, lets just call it a night for now.Voice-of-AllT|@|ESP 05:11, 6 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Stress

I don't mind if you quicky archive, but that usually is a sign of frustration in general. You also have a hight stress rating posted. Whatever the cause, you problably should take a break for a while and come back when it wears off.Voice-of-AllT|@|ESP 05:24, 6 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ditto on that, we need you man, I probably would have quit multiple times by now if it weren't for you. The next time you have any difficulty with Eddie, please let me know. I see alot of myself in him, he means well but says things that cause him trouble. I have faith that we'll both improve ourselves through mutual assistance as well as the mutual assistance that all Wikipedians should and usually do give each other.

UPA

Congratulations, NSLE/Archive 6! Your user page has been nominated for the Esperanza User Page Award! Five judges will look over your user page and award it 1-10 points in four categories:

  • Attractiveness: general layout, considering colour scheme and/or use of tables if applicable
  • Usefulness: links to subpages or editing aids, helpful information
  • Interesting-ness: quirky, unique, captivating, or funny content
  • General niceness: at the judges' discretion

But first, you must be chosen as a finalist. If your user page is chosen as one of the five finalists, you'll have the chance to win an award created just for having a great user page!

More information can be found on this page.
