How to use article pages

Hi, as you're new you won't be aware that we're expected to only use article talk pages to discuss changes and improvements to the article. This is explained in WP:NOTFORUM. For that reason, I removed, here, some of your posts at Talk:United Kingdom. Good luck. 18:52, 26 September 2022 (UTC) DeCausa (talk) 18:52, 26 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, @DeCausa. Also, I'm sorry for your country's loss. May the Queen rest in peace. Faithful15 (talk) 15:06, 28 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for your contribution(s). I am glad to see that you are discussing a topic. However, as a general rule, while user talk pages permit a small degree of generalisation, other talk pages are strictly for discussing improvements to their associated main pages, and many of them have special instructions on the top. They are not a general discussion forum about the article's topic or any other topic. If you have questions or ideas and are not sure where to post them, consider asking at the Teahouse. Thanks. Talk pages... again

I see that this issue was already brought to your attention just above, last September and again the following November. Despite that, I've noticed that you continue to post questions to various talk pages, not to discuss article improvement, but seemingly to satisfy your personal curiosity. Along with that, it appears that this is all you do on Wikipedia. I didn't notice any edits to actual articles to help build or maintain them. This is an encyclopaedia, not Quora or Ask.com. The editors that actually build and maintain articles here are all volunteers and they give their to help contribute. They aren't paid, and shouldn't be expected to do research for you, or respond to random whatever random questions you may have. I believe I saw somewhere that you had said your parents won't let you use Google. I am skeptical of that, but just the same, there are other means for you to search out information. If you find you are having difficulty, then I suggest you sit down with mom & dad and have a chat about the limitations they are putting on you. Regardless, you need to start abiding by the policies and guidelines of this project, or you may find your access to it blocked. Have a nice day - wolf 23:37, 12 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Wolf, I'm glad that you brought this to my attention. So, here's the situation here. See, I don't have access to a lot of sites, only specific sites they recognize, like Wiki here. So, no, I can't go to Quora or Ask. So I can't really improve articles. Faithful15 (talk) 15:20, 13 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
That includes Google. The reason for this is because I usually abuse the time on the Internet by getting into things that I'm not supposed to, like Youtube, which works like a drug for me. Youtube+me= drug addict. And I live in Alabama, in a small town called Ozark, which is nearby Fort Rucker. There is a library within walking distance, but it probably doesn't have anything on the things I need for research. So yes, I need help from someone who can go to the other sites. Faithful15 (talk) 15:26, 13 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Okay. Well, good news is that, using an article already published, I made my first edit! It on equipment page of Taiwan Marines Faithful15 (talk) 17:52, 13 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Well, it's unfortunate that you have these personal matters with your parents, self-control issues with the internet, and the limitations of your location, but Wikipedia is not the answer. As I said, the editors here are trying to build and maintain an encyclopaedia, they are not here to help you with these matters and this site is not the solution to any of them. Talk pages are primarily for discussing article content with a goal towards improving it, and they also serve as a medium for resolving conflict between editors. This is all outlined in the project's policies & guidelines, which I strongly encourage you to learn, before making any further edits, to articles or talk pages. There are many rules, but that just means that if you wish to do something, if you do some searching beforehand, you should be able to find a policy, guideline, WP:MOS page, template guidance, common accepted practice or essay to help you. Take this edit you mentioned on the Taiwan Marines page. You didn't provide a source to support it, or even an edit summary to explain it. As such, it had to be reverted.

This brings up another matter; all content on WP must be supported by reliable sources. If you don't have access to the internet or a library to do research, how can you contribute to articles? You would be limited to what is known as gnome work, which is still important, but you would need to do some reading and learning beforehand, so that you are actually fixing problems and not just creating more for others to fix. That's if you were interested in doing so in the first place, and keep in mind, even if you were, you still can't use WP as a forum, that is a policy. - wolf 01:30, 14 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I see. Well, thank you. I assure you, I will try not to do that anymore, and I will read the policy page. But one question. Does that include asking other users on their talk pages, or is that a exception? Just spitballing here. Faithful15 (talk) 18:02, 16 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Depending on who you ask, you might get a different answer. Some will say "go ahead"... that if you know of someone willing to look up information to answer questions you have, it's their talk page and their time. Others would say that no one actually owns their user pages, and that Wikipedia is a not forum or social media site. As for me, I say if you already know of someone willing to respond to questions on their talk page, then that's between you and them. But, that said, if you don't already know of someone willing to do that for you, then you shouldn't go around to different talk pages trying to find someone, as that wouldn't be appropriate.

All that aside, have you considered joining other websites? It seems odd that you are prevented from using any sites sites Quora or Ask, (or Reddit, stackexchange, etc.) where you can engage in the very behaviour that those sites are set up for, instead of this site that isn't. Maybe you should try talking to your parents again, let them know what's going on. Just because they recognize the name "Wikipedia", doesn't mean it's the right website for you. There are sites where you can go to ask questions and learn, they aren't all like Youtube, some can actually be of benefit to you. You just need to find the right one, and perhaps including your parents in the process will help. (jmho) - wolf 21:39, 16 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I see. Thank you for clarifying that. I assure you, this won't happen again. If you ever have a similar question as I asked before, you are more than welcome to come to my talk page and let me know. Strongest subject is American war history. Faithful15 (talk) 21:46, 16 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Spanish Army equipment

@Buckshot06: This chapter in the 2022 issue is available here in The Wikipedia Library Bundle.
Copied over from TWL. Buckshot06 (talk) 22:08, 22 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Interesting. Um, thank you, but I think I might have jumped the gun here. I found out that, yes, the page itself is gone, but the equipment list is below the empty space. Sorry. But that is useful to have if anyone left something out. Faith15 14:26, 23 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I saw. What was the exact title of the page?
Basically yes as soon as you're on 500 edits you can get access to TWL and there's a staggering amount of military resources there. Buckshot06 (talk) 19:33, 23 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
HOLY!... Okay, if you see any military articles that don't look quite right and can't figure it out, let me know. 'Cause now that I know what's there, I need that library. With that, I can make my book better! Faith15 19:37, 23 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You don't quite understand. There's a massive amount to do, holes and updating everywhere, but it *depends on what people are interested in*!! You can help almost anywhere. The IISS Military Balance has a significant amount of the estimates - estimates, educated guesses, not verified fact, for that you would need to work *in* the Estado Mayor del Ejército de Tierra [roughly, Headquarters Staff of the Army of the Land] for the Spanish (see the Chief of Staff's title at Chief of Staff of the Army (Spain)), and in other comparable organizations - of the data you appear to be looking for. Just keep making your edits, and remember to include WP:REFERENCEs. Buckshot06 (talk) 01:58, 24 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Ah Okay. So, like, leaving a suggestion on a Wiki article's talk page counts as well is what you're saying, not just making edits to the actual article itself, like what I left on the Battotai talk page? Faith15 14:20, 24 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
No. Honestly, you are spreading your queries across far to far a range of issues and subjects. Pick a smaller number of subjects, get the references you need to provide high quality data, and start adding data, not asking talkpage questions, on those subjects (that's what I would say if you are looking for advice). That means you would be set up to be WP:BOLD, fix things yourself instead of talking about them. Buckshot06 (talk) 19:23, 25 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Oooh. Well, he he, here's the thing. With the limited access that I have to other websites, I can only fix so many things. Like the only reason I was able to fix the T91 problem on the Taiwanese Army equipment page was because of someone thoughtfully writing an article of the T91 itself. So, I have a limited number of bases I can cover here. Faith15 14:39, 27 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Vietnamese Translation Job

So, whoever sees this, can you translate this page for me? I can't translate it myself, because I don't have access to a translator. Very limited access to any sites, really. Here's the page. [1]https://vi.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lữ_đoàn_Hải_quân_đánh_bộ_101 Thanks. Faith15 15:38, 1 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know Vietnamese at all, but I followed the link from the page you cite to an article on that topic in the English edition of Wikipedia, Dong Ba Thin Base Camp. I have no way of comparing the two, so I can't say how accurately or completely the English reflects the Vietnamese. Uporządnicki (talk) 16:04, 1 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
