This is my talk page, apparently.

I'm only talking to myself to get rid of the red-ink "my talk" heading at the top of the page. Catches the eye, you see. Hopefully, when I press "Save", it'll turn black. Cunning, eh?!

"Wanna"?! "u"?! "servant"?! Get stuffed. No offence.
Gardener of Geda 02:32, 14 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Note from page-owner : The "WANNA BE ADOPTED" message originally featured a graphic which contained a notice to the effect that the sender wished me to be his "servant", which explains part of my comment. The graphic was removed, without my knowledge/permission.
Gardener of Geda 17:46, 15 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Graphic has been added back in. Lethaniol 01:17, 17 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

That it has. Thank you. Gardener of Geda 03:17, 17 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Adoption

Yes, I see your point. You are certainly not obligated to accept an "adoption" offer. If you would like to possibly participate (I know it's a split infinitive, whatever) in such an arrangement, you can check out WP:ADOPT where there are lots of other editors with technical knowledge willing to "adopt" a new user. -- ßottesiηi (talk) 15:58, 13 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Courtship Rite

Hi. I've added a lot to what you did on Courtship Rite, but it still needs a plot summary. —wwoods 07:32, 14 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks - it was a good edit. The plot section you've started is OK, I think, and doesn't need much adding to, but I may get back to it at some point. If you don't mind, I'm going to transfer this conversation to the book's Talk page, seeing as one doesn't exist as yet. Thanks again.

Messing with your talkpage

Sorry for messing your talkpage, I should have said clearly why I removed the template put there by Walter H. The template also added your Username to a list of users who wanted to Adopt in the Adopt-a-User Program,

Ah - sorry, I didn't realise that. Gardener of Geda 01:22, 17 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

and as this was obviously not the case, I needed to remove it. I will add back in the template, but without adding you to the list

Thank you; much obliged. Gardener of Geda 01:22, 17 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

In the case of not getting a positive response - this is a criticism of Walter H, who by pushing the Adoption issue in his own special way will, in my humble opinion (IMHO) deter people from the program. It is in no way a criticism of you who are entitled to your views. I hope I have caused no offence. Lethaniol 01:14, 17 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You haven't. Thank you for replying, and clearing things up. (By the way, it is VERY cool that you're involved in working on synthetic cannabinoids!)

Inspired Alan

Hello.

Hello!  : Gardener of Geda

I just wanted to give you a courtesy heads up that I removed the Alan Partridge content (see here).

I never for a moment thought you wouldn't!  ;)  : Gardener of Geda

Thanks for making the effort to provide references, but next time it might be worth have a read of WP:RS first.

No problem. Sounds better than "please source these opinions of it will be removed" anyday, and while I was grateful for your concern, some people might not take it in the manner, I'm sure, it was meant. (Hey! I'm just joking!!!) : Gardener of Geda

Oh, and while I'm grateful for your concern about my coffee intake, some people might not take it in the manner, I'm sure, it was meant.

Well, there's a lot of humourless people out there, isn't there? Glad to see you're not one of them. Us Partridge fans should stick together! (Not literally, of course. That would be awful). : Gardener of Geda

Your edits of Aztec warfare

I have reerted our recent edit of Aztec warfare because most of it consisted of introducing erroneous IPA transcriptions into the article. There may have been some useful grammar corrections as well and I hope that you will feel free to reintroduce those, but please don't change the IPA transcriptions unless they contain actual errors, something that is not the case at present. If you feel that the IPA transcriptios do need to be changed somehow please state your reasons on the articles talk page before changing them again. Maunus 22:15, 27 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

That's curious. All I did was - as I said in the edit summary - correct some of the (quite glaring) spelling & grammar errors. I didn't touch anything else. I must admit that these "IPA transcriptions" are new to me. I've just taken a look, again, at the version I made, and it seems no different, visually, to yours . . . . though, when I look at the comparisons between the selected versions (ie, when both versions are tabulated on the one page) I see differences in the red-ink-marked Nahuatl translations. Mine has red squares, where yours has red question-marks.
I can assure you I never touched them. I use Firefox . . . . I can only assume something's going wrong with the way it's uploading data to Wiki. That's very disturbing. Could be font-related. Could even be something wrong with your system too, I suppose.
It could be worthwhile reporting this mystery to administration - it seems important.
Finally, it would be advisable for you to check the spelling & grammar changes I made and perhaps try to include them yourself - the article needed them. Gardener of Geda 23:17, 27 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Quick thought - maybe I've got it! I've just remembered that during the editing of the article I was interrupted by a visitor, during which I transferred the contents into a plain-text file, and then logged-off. Later, I logged back on, went into the edit page, deleted what was there, and transferred back the text file, and uploaded it. Obviously, the transfer procedure must have changed some of the ASCII (even though it was a PLAIN-text editor; no rich-text of any kind).
I never knew this could happen - I do now. I'll try re-doing it all sometime tomorrow, and see what happens. Gardener of Geda 23:28, 27 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It is quite probably the fomatting into rich text that has cut out some of the IPA symbols. I will check up on the spelling changes, you are right they were needed. Maunus 09:05, 28 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

As I said, it was a plaintext editor; no rich text involved. Never mind - all's well that ends well. Now that I know certain ASCII characters can be affected by what I did, above, I'll be more careful in future. Good to see you added most of the changes I recommended in the article. Be seein' ya! Vandalising pages?

I have been told I was vandalising pages. May I be informed as to what the vandalism is exactly because I believe that this is a false accusation. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 71.106.163.65 (talk) 04:22, 29 January 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Maybe it's a dynamic IP shared by many people - I don't know. I don't care, frankly. Best thing to do is get an account. It's free, and it'll separate you out from all those daft buggers who are doing the silly edits (particularly to the Shakespeare pages). And easy, you'll be pleased to hear. See here. Then here. neutral point of view

Dear Gardener of Geda,

While I think the existing content in the namespace committed to Jon Anderson-- specifically the former frontman from the album rock legend Yes-- is very informative, it tends toward a 'fan devotional' type of page that veers away from Wikipedia's notions of maintaining a NPOV [1]. Your insistence that small changes to your content amount to 'vandalism' hardly fit the criteria cited here: [2]. While I am certain that you wish to protect the content on the Jon Anderson namespace from vandalism, your assertion that any good-faith editing from other users amounts to "nonsense" and "vandalism" is a little strong.

Best Regards,

Moses sheperd

Dear Moses shepherd
While I think that your attempted justification of the troll in question, using a rather desperate and unconvincing mix of pseudo-Wiki-legalese and semi-outraged whaffling is hilarious (in a laughing at you rather than with you kinda way), I nevertheless would have to say that you doth protest too much, etc.
The troll - Mr. 69.86.188.10 - has written a total of 5 posts (as I'm sure you know very well .... eh?!) to the Jon Anderson article.
1st .... 2nd .... 3rd .... 4th ..... 5th
Each one was a clear and blatant troll. Given that fact, your insistence on my having to assume "good faith", by post 5, with the idiot, and your statement that my referring to his input as nonsense and vandalism "is a little strong" is - quite clearly - ridiculous. His other contributions to other topics were just as mindless. See here.
As we both know what Mr. 69.86.188.10 is up to, I think you should give up this charade NOW. Now you've just signed up, don't waste your time whining. So you don't like Jon Anderson. Tough. Sh1t happens. Write some articles about things you DO like. Whatever you do, just go away. Fneh!

Thanks for your vote of support. Listing the article for deletion was obviously some idiot's idea of a joke. --Gene_poole 04:12, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't like the way the "idiot" in question had to use a sock to do it. He sounds paranoid. I guess we'll never know the identity of the perpetrator. Who would do a thing like that? Gardener of Geda | Message Me.... 16:55, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know who could possibly be responsible for such dastardly deeds. If you could keep an eye on the external links at Ambient music too I'd appreciate it. There's some anonymous nutter there trying to delete it from the list of FM radio shows. Who only knows who that could be... --Gene_poole 00:44, 13 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Note: Minutes after posting the above message, Dr. Who erased it. I have reverted the vandalism. Gardener of Geda | Message Me.... 18:26, 13 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
In light of the recent heightened level of hysteria, harrassment, stalking and wikilawyering and personal abuse from Dr. Who - particularly the speedy delete and COI noticeboard nonsense, I've posted a warning on his talk page. Hopefully that will do the job of making him see sense. --Gene_poole 03:37, 15 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I doubt it! I reckon he's got a taste for all this, now. He's probably never been paid so much attention in his life ...... a few "official" sounding complaints and away he goes! But - how will he handle the anticlimax when the attention stops, we asks? Yes, we do! Meh! Gardener of Geda | Message Me.... 13:33, 15 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No personal attacks

Gardener of Geda, comments such as "You are obviously a very disturbed person" and "You are paranoid, and very probably unstable" are personal attacks. Please stop. If you have a dispute with Doktor Who, please do not attempt to resolve the dispute with personal attacks, since they generally only exacerbate the situation. Michael Slone (talk) 21:52, 13 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. I thought he'd end up doing this - I get the feeling he's been stalking me. Hopefully, this means he won't try to get in touch with me again. I'm building-up a defence to add to his incident-page. Gardener of Geda | Message Me.... 21:59, 13 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Personal attacks

You were reported at WP:AIV for personal attacks; while I am not going to block you at this time, I want to stress that this is your last warning. Sarcastic comments like this only make situations worse, and Wikipedia is not the place for combative attitudes. If you find that you're unable to leave respectful comments, please step away from the situation rather than escalating the problem. Thanks. Kafziel Talk 13:26, 19 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I wouldn't be too concerned if I were you. I've been doing some research and I'm pretty confident I know what's going on; there's a direct correlation between the edits of Doktor Who [3] whose first edit was 22 June 2006, and Sky-surfer [4], whose last edit was 7 July 2006. There are distinct similarities in both their writing styles and use of certain non-standard English phrases and word spellings. These seem to indicate that both editors/accounts don't speak English as their primary language. In addition, they both have a history of conflict etc with other editors. Interestingly enough Skysurfer admitted to suffering from paranoid psychosis, and described himself as being both paranoid and insane. I intend to confirm the link between these 2 accounts via checkuser. If he keeps up the harrassment, stalking and vandalism after that, we can take it to the Arbcom and let them apply the appropriate sanction. --Gene_poole 02:01, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know how the Wiki "checkuser" system works, though I've got a pretty good idea; I also know how anyone with a basic knowledge of alternate proxies could evade detection. Hell, all you have to do is use another connection / ISP - so would it be of use in this instance? (If he's a "techie", as he claims, he should know these things). I can't honestly say I'm interested in taking him, or anyone else really, through any sort of arbitration process - I'd be no better than him, then! He's obviously got my page on his watchlist, and no doubt this missive will be duly reported, but what the hell. As for your suspicions - yes; I've been reading-up myself and have come to the same conclusions. Let's see how this all ends. On - ever on! [5]--Doktor Who 02:28, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yep. 10 minutes later. Creepy. Very creepy. Like he's watching. Should I be afraid?! (Please get OFF my talkpage like I asked you to. Thanks). Gardener of Geda | Message Me.... 02:33, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Gardener of Geda, devoting a section of your user page to an enumerating of Doktor Who's purported personal attacks against you does not help your case. In fact, it begins to give you the appearance of a stalker, regardless of whether that is your intention. At the very least you should remove or rephrase your description of Doktor Who as "one, strange, person", since you have been warned multiple times to discontinue personal attacks [6] [7]. I recommend that for the moment you back off from interactions with Doktor Who. If this requires the temporary removal of some pages from your watchlist, so be it; the pages will still be there when you get back. Michael Slone (talk) 08:40, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
"One, strange, person" removed (!). It now reads "one person". Yes - from this moment on, I will cease to interact with him. I will not give him any reason, or excuse, to make any more of his inappropriate and ridiculous complaints to you people. I will be bold and revert any obvious vandalisms he may make, however. After all, the pages will still be there when he gets back. Meh! Gardener of Geda | Message Me.... 11:45, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

how to define a troll

Gardener,

Sorry it took me so long to think about checking on any response you might have had to my suggestion that you are a bit hostile in your site admin tactics. I signed on as Moses sheperd [which is a typo] in response to weird messages I kept getting from you about ‘vandalism’ and ‘nonsense’-- that had to do with the perhaps rambunctious use of my computer by other users [the stuff you call “troll” activity.] In looking at what was called ‘vandalism’ by you, though, I came to the conclusion that most of it was actually done in good faith. You seem to have ownership issues and are rude to the point of being more a troll than those who wish to edit your aggressively defended turf, which I have already called well-written or some other thing. But let me assert that the ‘forum’ here is Wikipedia, which as far as I can tell is supposed to be an ‘encyclopedic’ and ‘neutral’ site-- the ‘forum’ is not your idea of what stands as feasible content. By asserting that it is your domain you are subverting the Wikipedia process. It seems pretty clear your hostility is a sign of an intelligent but insecure attitude-- like lurking under a bridge that you want to keep clear of other traffic. Looking at it neutrally, this Jon Anderson character seems to have a rather cultic fan base (I’m assuming you are part of it.) Any ‘encyclopedic’ view of the artist should probably include the rabid protectiveness of his fans who peg some part of their identity to his importance. Yes is an important band, I know. But a recent YouTube post of a Jon Anderson video (solo) was viewed 6, 645 times. This was his most-viewed solo performance. By way of comparison Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” was viewed 2,377,978 times. Get over it.

Obviously I am new to Wikipedia. But your attitude in this matter runs against the grain of what I have read in the site process documentation. Eventually, if your attitude prevails, users will lose faith in the site. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Moses sheperd (talkcontribs) ...... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.86.188.10 (talkcontribs)

Yadda Yadda Yadda ...... Blah Bla Blah. (Yes; it sounds immature. And trite. And unintelligent. But I'm only trying to "blend in with the surroundings", if you see what I mean. Meh!)
Forget it, pal. You're not convincing anyone. You're a mindless troll that got "called" on what you did. Stop whining - and get over it. Go and write some articles. Gardener of Geda | Message Me.... 12:25, 24 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

sorry for the "get over it"

Thinking about it, a half hour or so after the rushing-to-respond process, I see that saying "get over it" to Gardener of Geda is a rather juvenile response. So, Gardener, I am sorry for that. I think it was a mimetic [8] action on my part.

Regards again,

Moses sheperd

Don't you worry yourself one little bit, mate. "Get over it" response or no "get over it" response, it was still, all, hilarious. I had just got over laughing at your post from earlier this month too! Keep on with the justifications (and, my favourite, the whining). Heh!

Imagine how embarassed I feel now that I realise it isn't! Punishment. That's what people like me need. Gardener of Geda | Message Me.... 04:49, 22 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
