French language controversy

If there's any sources, could we mention Keane's pointing out French wasn't a requirement to be Canadiens captain? It caused a stir (much to the delight of sovereignist) before the October 30th, 1995 Quebec referendum. GoodDay 23:01, 19 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

very late in this discussion. But I beleive there would be sources. I distinctly remember this being an 'issue' in the french media about not wanting to speak french. I will keep an eye out. Ottawa4ever (talk) 08:25, 21 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
