A different John Staples
[edit]Not to be confused with Sir John Staples, K.G.M.G., of whose existence is hinted by an auction (Christie, Manson & Woods), on 29 May 1888: “Of The Choice Wines Now lying in the Mansion House Cellars, The Property of Sir John Staples, K.G.M.G., Deceased, Late Lord Mayor”. (My picture #19426.) Also see List of Lord Mayors of London (1885). Could there be a need for a disambiguation page? JDAWiseman (talk) 18:47, 22 August 2016 (UTC)

Birth year
[edit]Article says 1734. Most sources say 1736. Which is correct? Nurg (talk) 10:02, 26 December 2017 (UTC)
- Actually, even the infobox says 1736, so I have changed to that. Nurg (talk) 10:19, 26 December 2017 (UTC)
