[edit]This notable human fossil specimen has been subject of a certain controversy in Los Angeles news and recent history. Other articles on fossilized human specimens may be used as a rough template for this page. riffic (talk) 11:19, 6 February 2011 (UTC)
References?
[edit]I tidied up the layout of this page a bit, but I am not sure which citations go with which sentences, so they are all sitting there until they get placed properly. KConWiki (talk) 23:23, 6 February 2011 (UTC)
Museum?
[edit]The bones used to be on display in the museum,
I am assuming that this is the George C. Page Museum, based on having done a little clicking around. That is the statement I am incorporating into this article. If this is not accurate, please correct as needed. KConWiki (talk) 23:25, 6 February 2011 (UTC)
This is correct. They used to be on display at the George C. Page Museum. The museum removed them from display some time in the 1980s, due to various concerns, involving NAGPRA (Which does not apply to them since they were recovered prior to the 1970's law, and since they are too old to be clearly connected with any modern tribe,) and modern sensibilities regarding human remains. The Los Angeles County Museum (of which the Page Museum is a satellite) implemented a policy that forbids the display of human skeletons (actual, or not) in their museums.
Age of woman
[edit]The LA Times article states that Chris Shaw, the collections manager, claimed the age to be 18-22 years of age. Some online sources give different ages. A fairly legit looking webpage that is blacklisted for some reason says she is 18-24 years old. Actual scholarly works argue for her age being 25-30, or suggest that she may have had children. I don't know where this 17-18 year old thing comes from though. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.13.49.215 (talk) 22:46, 6 October 2011 (UTC)
