An article on the web, http://www.wesleyan.edu/ctgeology/Glacial/GlacialGeology.html, say "Lake Hitchcock did not drain down today's Connecticut River south of Rocky Hill, but instead detoured to the west down the present central valley toward New Haven." This article states "Although the rift valley through which the river flows above Rocky Hill actually continues south to New Haven on Long Island Sound, the obstructing moraine at Rocky Hill diverted the river southeast to its present mouth at Old Saybrook."

It appears to my layman's reading that the two differ on the role that the blockage at Rocky Hill played. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.252.144.18 (talk) 01:31, 15 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
