Likely Future Events

[edit]

Is it wrong to post certain future events? Wikipedia has thousands of other examples, so why not here? If the chances are 100% or nearly 100%, shouldn't Wikipedia be the source? 63.152.114.20 (talk) 06:40, 20 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, it's wrong if no sources are cited. ZappaOMati 21:39, 20 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

High School and College Coaching

[edit]

Is it necessary to have those two items listed on the infobox.? KyuuA4 08:36, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Is he the first, or tied for first?

[edit]

Lovie Smith and Tony Dungy have simultaneously become the first African American coaches to lead a team to the Superbowl, so I have edited the page to reflect this. 208.178.18.185 13:36, 23 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think that it is reasonable to say that both Lovie Smith and Tony Dungy will simultaneously become the first two African Americans to head coach a team in the Super Bowl, but Smith is technically the first African American head coach to LEAD his team to the Super Bowl, since the Bears game ended first. Sonicwav 04:07, 24 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That's just a technicality as the NFC game was scheduled first. At least, they both did it within the same day. KyuuA4 08:36, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
They're both the first, although Lovie did earn the Conference title before Dungy. See this Yahoo! Reference, which states, "...Together they are the first black coaches to make the Super Bowl". --  ShadowJester07  ►Talk  04:18, 24 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, that's how one person phrased it. But here's how it appeared in the LA Times: "Hours after Chicago's Lovie Smith became the first black coach to reach the Super Bowl, Tony Dungy took history a step further." In addition, the NY Times states: "Though the 51-year-old Dungy blazed the trail for Smith, it was Smith who preceded Dungy to Super Bowl XLI, if only by a matter of hours." And the St. Louis Post-Dispatch: "On Sunday, Lovie Smith became the first African-American head coach in NFL history to lead a team to a Super Bowl. Barely." Sonicwav 17:54, 24 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

He has become the first African-American coach to lose a Super Bowl, but I am not sure if this should be included. Butnotthehippo 03:32, 5 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Is it wiki-worthy to mention the howling public criticism, and chorus of calls for his dismissal, that Smith is facing in 2009 as the Bears melt down? Jrgilb (talk) 05:07, 1 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
