Speedy deletion nomination of Pam Scheininger

[edit]

Hello Lizzie656,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Pam Scheininger for deletion, because it seems to be promotional, rather than an encyclopedia article.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Kavdiamanju (talk) 18:02, 17 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Sarah Hofstetter requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. A tag has been placed on Bat Sheva Marcus, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

Promotional editing

[edit]

I'm not sure what you're going on here, and you may mean well, but the "articles" you've been writing are heavily promotional. This is not acceptable.

First, articles must be neutral in tone and content. Yours have not been, in part due to the use of pull quotes to finish up sentences. Summarize, and do it neutrally, don't use quotes like that. Also, don't use long, fluffy pull quotes that don't add appreciably to the informational content of the article.

In addition, I note a lot of peacock terms, especially things like "leader" and the like. We don't have any need to fill up articles with adjective overload like that. If they do lead something, just neutrally describe what it is (e.g., "was Chair of the Board for Example Group from 2005 to 2010").

Finally, the articles are written in the style of a CV rather than a biography.

I strongly suggest you write any future articles first as a draft, to allow more experienced editors to review them for issues like this. However, even drafts are subject to deletion if they are blatantly promotional. That must be toned down. Some of these might actually be appropriate article subjects, but we do not allow promotion of anyone or anything, including hagiographies. Seraphimblade Talk to me 20:37, 17 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I will take you advice on submitting as drafts and on trying to write in an overall more neutral tone---However, I don't know how many times I have to stress this, I am not writing anything on Wikipedia for Promotional reasons. I don't know if you've heard of Wikipedia's WikiProject Women in Red, a project whose goal is to add notable women to Wikipedia since there is a huge lacking of women on the site. I am an Orthodox Jewish Women I'm also a Jewish Feminist. I did not decide to add a profile on myself (which would be promotional) but rather am adding profiles of other Orthodox Jewish Women and Jewish Feminists, who are notable and deserve recognition. The only thing I'm promoting is equality. The only thing I'm trying to do is add more profiles of women. It is very clear to me why this movement even exists in the first place, because no matter what any woman did she is not considered notable.

I rather believe you that you're not just intending to spam. If I thought that was your only intent, I probably wouldn't bother trying to help, I block several spammers on most days. But it has nothing to do with women or anything else, or even with notability. It's entirely possible that some of the people you're writing about actually would pass notability standards. G11 deletion only has to do with an article being promotional, and would apply even if the subject were unequivocally notable. Seraphimblade Talk to me 21:43, 17 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Lawrence Krule

[edit]

The article Lawrence Krule has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails WP:NBIO

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. shoy (reactions) 20:19, 23 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I moved the page from Draft:Dr. Rabbanit Rachel Levmore to Draft:Rabbanit Rachel Levmore as wp:naming conventions preclude the use of "Dr." and such from titles. Also, the use of "Dr." in articles should be avoided per wp:credential. After the first use of the full name, use only the surname per wp:Surname Cheers Jim1138 (talk) 17:31, 24 August 2016 (UTC) Did not know that, thank you so much!! @Jim1138: Lizzie656 (talk) 18:40, 24 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked

[edit]

Well, this is unfortunate, because I think you mean well. However, when I told you that you may not write promotional material, I meant it. You've continued to do that, and I've just gotten done deleting some more of it. Since the warning didn't seem to work, I've blocked your account from editing.

You may appeal the block by using the steps at the guide to appealing blocks. Alternatively, I would be willing to unblock you if you will agree to the following two conditions: You may only create new articles as a draft and must have them approved by articles for creation before moving them to mainspace, and you must stop using quotes in articles, since you are in the habit of using them to make the article promotional. While not specific unblock conditions, you'd also need to stop throwing things in like "prestigious" to describe an award. Stick to dry, plain facts, don't throw in peacock adjectives. And don't write articles on people as a CV. They should be a biography, not a resume. If you'd be willing to agree to those two conditions, please respond here (you can edit your own talk page even while blocked, and I've got it on watch and will see it).
