My second edit to this Wikipedia list

Hello editors of Wikipedia!

I would like to explain my second edit to this Wikipedia list in more detail.

What I changed:

I changed the definition portion of the list by putting the different definitions into a table format. The first column contains an organization, the second column contains that organization's definition of mass shooting, and the third column counts how many mass shootings on the list would fit based on that definition. I think this is a positive change that will make the list less biased because it takes every definition into account, whereas it used to primarily favor more lenient ones. Please inform me if you have any issues with it.

Sincerely, Ngamuk on January 1, 2024. Ngamuk (talk) 22:19, 1 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I appreciate it and think it is a good idea. Despite that though I think it would've been nice if you brought this up as a suggestion and a vote. Raskuly (talk) 13:13, 21 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Map

To keep the map up to date and/or if anyone wants to add the events to the map the page is Template:Map of United States mass shootings/2024. Thanks. Leaky.Solar (talk) 16:39, 4 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Why are there two dots in Iowa? 207.237.167.6 (talk) 02:18, 9 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Notes Section

Anybody have an idea why the notes in the chart are not stacking for the same note as they did in List of mass shootings in the United States in 2023? I tried copying the note from the old page to see if it would stop it but it seems to continue the trend. Thanks in advance Leaky.Solar (talk) 17:31, 4 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Apologies, I just saw your message and I'm unsure if your issue has been resolved yet, though if it hasn't I'm unsure as to what you mean. Raskuly (talk) 13:12, 21 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Be more specific with locations in cities

Hello!

I believe it to be beneficial to the readers of this list if we included neighborhoods, regions, or general cardinal directions at the very least when an incident occurs in a city (and by city I mean usually around 100,000+ population because they're more likely to have these distinguishing features).

Cities naturally tend to have the most incidents and I think it adds positively to the list whenever these things are noted in the summary of an incident, rather than having 22 Chicago incidents (like last year) with no additional information about where exactly it actually happened in the city. Perhaps an even better example would be New York City. Raskuly (talk) 13:17, 21 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The neighborhoods/sections/districts are already in the descriptions of the incidents. TomCat4680 (talk) 13:53, 21 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'm aware (and I've added it myself on several occasions) but I just felt like stating this here so that others may feel more inclined to do it more often. Raskuly (talk) 16:41, 22 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Also acceptable are streets/highways, local landmarks (parks, malls, bridges, geographical features like lakes or rivers), or names of schools/universities/colleges, all if they have their own articles. TomCat4680 (talk) 00:24, 25 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
