Unreal Tournament 2003 is a port of Unreal Championship

[edit]

A common misconception is that Unreal Championship (Xbox) is a port of Unreal Tournamet 2003 (Windows). Despite appearances (try a shallow Google session), this is wrong. In truth it is the other way around, more or less. DE was working on Championship when Epic decided it would be silly not to release the new Unreal game for Windows as well. "Unreal Tournament 2" was born, and later obviously renamed. (Epic basically started with DE's Championship, changed things from there.)

I spent some extra time using Google (I should've save these when I first had this porting discussion back then), and found some links proving what I'm saying. Read these articles on Shacknews and Gaming Target. Gamespot also has a few articles at least indicating Championship was before UT2003, namely this one, this too, this as well, and especially this one which mentions the order pretty literally. I hope that clears things up. Retodon8 13:30, 6 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No you're wrong look at this video, the president of epic clearly states that UC was a port of UT2003. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Io7qWX-Zalc 74.37.131.146 (talk) 22:17, 25 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

PS2 port?

[edit]

I've heard recently that they are porting Unreal Championship to Ps2, and on game.net you can already preorder this. Is it true? I really hope so, as i dont have an Xbox and would love to play the game. 18:38, 27 March 2006 82.46.9.48

First of all, please follow your posts with ~~~~ so we can see when something was posted, by whom, and where one begins and the other ends. Thanks!
As for your question... don't count on it, nothing on the Unreal official or fan sites. Game.net seems like any other shop, they say UT2007 comes out in 59 days, a random date pulled out of some dark orifice somewhere to try and get you to spend your money there. Perhaps they are still referring to "Unreal Assault", a cancelled PS2 project that never even was officially announced, and nothing was ever really known about. If so, they really should update their catalogue, because that's ooooooold news. Sorry to disappoint you. Retodon8 20:28, 27 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

XBox 360

[edit]

Unreal Championship is not yet on the backcomp@microsoft.com backwards compatability list. An email write-in campain by fans might change this. On 3 May 2006, I sent in my request that it be added. (One person posted on some forum that at one time there were 4 different Barbie games slated for backwards compatability / patch / conversion?--So why not UC?) Double Jump and Wall Jump Also in Xbox Version

[edit]

UC for Xbox has DJ and WJ. You jump next to/towards a wall, then double tap the direction pad away from the wall, then possibly the jump button, and your character should leap off of the wall. Automatons / Robot characters do this very easily and fly very far. The best CTF players can and will do all sorts of crazy stuff to evade trouble--the good players all do these fancy wall jumps. Some guys can do these wall jumps 2 or 3 in succession so that they are bouncing from one wall to the other and back all whilst shooting at you. Oldspammer 08:18, 18 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Regeneration adrenaline move

[edit]

The article is wrong for UC. If health is already full, the health climbs to 200% (double) that of full (for the given character). Article is correct about shield armor growing to 150 in strength. However, if your character is already damaged, health will not reach 200% unless further adrenaline pills are taken or earned while still regenerating. Same goes for sheild armor if damage is incurred while regenerating (taking more pills or earning additional adrenaline helps reach your character's maximum values). Link gun 'linking' with a teammate will regenerate him/her too. Oldspammer 10:55, 20 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Was Unreal Championship the first game to include an update/patch?

[edit]

I was reading this article from a developer of MotoGP: Ultimate Racing Tech said the demo version was truly the first console game to include a title update (November 4, 2002), based on his own article:

https://shawnhargreaves.com/live_postmortem/

The Unreal Chamionship patch came out approx 3-4 weeks after release according to this article.
