Welcome to Wikipedia!

[edit]

Dear Ac@osr: Welcome to Wikipedia, a free and open-content encyclopedia. I hope you enjoy contributing. To help get you settled in, I thought you might find the following pages useful:

Don't worry too much about being perfect. Very few of us are! Just in case you are not perfect, click here to see how you can avoid making common mistakes.

If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the Newcomers help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions.

Wikipedians try to follow a strict policy of never biting new users. If you are unsure of how to do something, you are welcome to ask a more experienced user such as an administrator. One last bit of advice: please sign any dicussion comment with four tildes (~~~~). The software will automatically convert this into your signature which can be altered in the "Preferences" tab at the top of the screen. I hope I have not overwhelmed you with information. If you need any help just let me know. Once again welcome to Wikipedia, and don't forget to tell us about yourself and be BOLD! — Rebelguys2 talk 23:41, 24 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:Nihilistspasmband.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Nihilistspasmband.jpg. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 22:05, 18 April 2006 (UTC)

The Fall

[edit]

I can't help but notice all the work you're putting into the Fall articles. Good choice! And thanks for filling in the gaps. Flowerparty 18:18, 25 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Prhizzm

[edit]

Thanks for the heads-up on Benbecula's AfD. I do realize that Prhizzm's lack of a full-length release is a negative, but it is hard to see how lacking a touring schedule is really detrimental to an electronic act's notability. While there certainly are those electronic acts that tour, and even tour regularly, there are a great many that do not tour at all, or just play a show now and then. The genre sometimes makes live music impossible or unfeasible.  OZLAWYER  talk  22:07, 21 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

OXES

[edit]

When will this end? When does the deletion process end? I've had a page deleted before but I never thought THIS one was going to be suspect.

R!!!

[edit]

thanks for the kind words! as i said, i am ever vigilant.  ;) i haven't added "the cell" to the proper discography yet, but i will do as soon as i have a little more information. since it was a 90 minute concert (were you there?), i can't quite believe it's only one disc. but as you probably already know, ear/rational music has it listed at the corwood single-disc price. i can't wait to hear this one! (and i have "santos" on order now, by the way...)

Helpme - infobox problem

[edit]

I can't get the infobox to work on Merzbild Schwet; I copied an existing inforbox over and even went back to the original template but without success. I can't work out what's wrong with it....

Hm, terribly sorry, but nobody in the IRC channel at this hour can figure out what's wrong with it. ^_^;; Please post at the help desk to get a wider viewership from more experienced editors. Sorry for the trouble, and good luck. Luna Santin 10:31, 5 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I found the problem, just a '}' instead of a ']'. Fixed now.--Commander Keane 11:02, 5 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for getting back to me on this - very helpful. And good work on all the Fall stuff, by the way... Cheers, Sam Clark 08:56, 28 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Volume magazine articles

[edit]

Hi, I saw your comments in the recent AfD discussion of the Volume magazine album articles, and was hoping you might be able to add something to those articles. I don't have any of them (other than a couple TEX, one TA, and Wasted), so most of what's in those articles is pretty much out of AMG and discogs.com, and needs lots of help. :) — Wwagner 22:20, 8 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Lea Cummings

[edit]

Hey, great work on the Lea Cummings article- what a guy! I'm starting work on one for Ruaraidh Sanachan/Nackt Insecten as he totally deserves one too. Keep it up! Scott! 17:30, 18 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I thank you for your comments about The Beatles trivia article. andreasegde 21:10, 27 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Because of your input on previous music AfDs, I was hoping you would take a look at this article and provide your thoughts on whether or not it meets WP:MUSIC its latest AfD. PT (s-s-s-s) 00:25, 10 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Tape scene

[edit]

There seems to be very little collected material, anywhere, discussing Britain's 80s tape scene. Time for an article? I'd do it but I hardly know where to begin - even what to call it.

I got your comment about notability. I'd guess that Richard Youngs, Neil campbell and (not sure but say it anyway) Chumbawamba all started off in the tape scene, so I'd guess it has historic value. Totnesmartin 20:40, 25 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Merzbild.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Merzbild.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. (ESkog)(Talk) 20:34, 2 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have added a fair use rationale to the image now, so there's no need to act upon this warning. Thanks for your time. LuciferMorgan 20:45, 2 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Notability of Shadow Huntaz

[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Shadow Huntaz, by Addd wiki (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Shadow Huntaz seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Shadow Huntaz, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. --Android Mouse Bot 2 19:28, 26 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

this is non from shadowhuntaz, in regards to the deleting of the shadow huntaz tag contesting the fact we are not notable. i believe we are notable because we complete albums in a non traditional fashion by using the internets, instant messengers applications and FTP's to be a collaborative force and by doing this we break the confines of the internet and the music is press on wax records and cds by establish labels worldwide and sold in chain and indie stores, as well as digitally distributed mp3's. we did not invent this method but we mark the era of this new way to create music using the internet to bring artist together globally like never before. Record deals are to be found online simply put. -non@shadowhuntaz.com —Preceding unsigned comment added by 169.232.232.44 (talk) 09:27, 7 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Takemetoyourleaderhawkwind.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Takemetoyourleaderhawkwind.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 04:55, 21 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Ac!

[edit]

I just saw your userpage snipe. I guess you went sour on the wiki experience. Can't say I blame you, but I think you do democracy a disservice by dragging it down to this level. Nobody holds up the "Democratic" Republic of the Congo as an indictment against universal suffrage ;) Flowerparty 10:58, 15 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Truthfully, I went sour on it quite some time ago, I just hadn't externalised it. I've been doing little more than checking my watchlist for a good length of time, just making little updates and trying to work around editing disputes (ie Jandek's identity, the name and fate of The Mighty Fall's first drummer etc).Ac@osr (talk) 16:36, 15 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (File:0791.JPG)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:0791.JPG. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Rockfang (talk) 17:20, 5 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hey readers, strange incident - the image in question is only orphaned because the person posting the above message orphaned it. Glad I stopped being active now if this is standard... Ac@osr (talk) 12:25, 6 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for File:Spiralinsana.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Spiralinsana.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 14:06, 9 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Matthew Bower

[edit]

The article Matthew Bower has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Seemingly questionably notable and improvable as it seems he's been associated with some notable acts but is apparently not notable himself and the best my searches found were a few passing mentions. Hardly much for a better article here it seems.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
