Congratulations

First of all, congratulations for your successive DYKs. Please keep it up. I will have a look at Shahbag, although I may not be able to do much. As regards Education in Bangladesh, I thought of one little advice. In India, the Bachelor of Education courses have a book on History of Education in India as part of their syllabus. I am sure it would be similar in Bangladesh. If you can lay hands on such a book for Bangladesh, you will get plenty of references. With regards -- P.K.Niyogi 02:45, 1 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your message on Village pump (technical)

I've replied to your message there, since other people may find my reply useful, and some may cast further light on the situation.-gadfium 09:05, 9 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I intend to do more; that was just a first quick stab, inspired by seeing your interest in improving the article. Hopefully this will become a solid piece eventually... Valrith 01:00, 11 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This weekend

Hi Aditya,

Will you be around on WP this weekend? I am busy right now, but will leave more questions on the Shahbag talk page for you later. If you could answer them, it would be great. Fowler&fowler«Talk» 18:13, 13 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your request

In your request you asked that I correlate a named user account with an IP address. Such actions are covered by the Wikimedia Foundation's privacy policy and I am allowed to do so only in serious circumstances. This request did not, in my judgement, rise to that level. Wikiproject History of Bangladesh

Hi. I noted your comment on my talk page. I have already started tagging "history=yes" in WP Bangladesh tags in topics that seems historical to me. But I think the Project page could use an "assessment" section to summarize these taggings. I'll see if I can work on that area when I get adequate wikitime.

I've noticed your works on Bangladesh related topics. Impressive indeed. By the way, we should try to merge Gulshan (Dhaka) with Gulshan Thana. If we can do that it will give us an ideal structure for articles on Dhaka thanas. The structure can be used to elaborate other thanaks- Dhanmondi, Mirpur, Mohammadpur, Ramna and so on. Please take a look when you have some time.-Arman Aziz 06:32, 17 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Armenian community of Dhaka

The way I see it is this: is anyone likely to click on those links (probably not), and would they learn anything useful if they did (almost certainly not)? Anyone who's reading about a bit of Armenian history is not likely to care that in 1698, for example, "Whigs sponsor Captain Kidd of New York as a privateer against French shipping". The articles for any specific year are a total ragbag of unrelated information. There might be a case for highlighting key dates in bold to emphasise them, or for linking to a specific relevant article such as e.g. 1698 in Armenian history but not for linking them as they stand. Colonies Chris 17:32, 17 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There's a discussion of this in the Manual of Style at Wikipedia:Manual of Style (dates and numbers)#Partial dates, and some more at Wikipedia:Only make links that are relevant to the context#Dates. Opinions differ on this practice and there's no clear policy, but as the second article says, the majority of editors (though with some strong dissenters) feel as I do that linking bare years is valueless and visually distracting. Because the way of marking up dates to respond to readers' formatting preferences is also the way of linking dates, and isn't particularly intuitive, a lot of confusion has developed about how and when to mark up/link dates. But to my mind the simple question that cuts through it all is 'will this link be useful to the reader?'Colonies Chris 09:35, 20 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Aditya. The rating was actually for the Aviation project but based on your comments, I've upped it to B on the Bangladesh project also. → AA (talkcontribs)08:40, 19 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Sure

Apparently there is much about this incident that I am unaware of. It is unfortunate that some editors choose to wiki-stalk others, but leaving angry comments may only exacerbate the problem. I'm not saying that all disputes must be handled with a velvet glove, but if you have reason to suspect any sort of trolling, it is better to present your evidence on an open forum, like WP:RFC. ˉˉanetode╦╩ 02:24, 23 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Help Me Here

{help me} Can someone lead me to a bio-infobox to use on an Indian glamour photographer's article? Aditya Kabir 18:36, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Jayne Mansfield--Death Of A Salesman

Hi, please feel free to use this information as you see fit. I am not the best when it comes to outlining Wikipedia so you may use my source information.

Jayne performed in a local production of DEATH OF A SALESMAN in Dallas, Texas while studying under Baruch Lumet, father of film director Sidney Lumet. The production was in October of 1953. Milton Lewis, a Paramount executive, came to see Jayne in this performance and was impressed with her performance and told Lumet to have her look him up when she came to Hollywood. Mansfield was a brunette at this time and was a student at Southern Methodist University.
