The L shaped building known as William Gates Computer Sciences, or simply "Gates" for short, houses the Computer Sciences Department as well as the Computer Systems Laboratory at Stanford University. Construction began in 1994 and was completed in 1996 at a cost of $36 Million. It was named in honor of Bill Gates, founder of Microsoft, after he donated $6 Million for the construction.
