WHAT HAPPENED TO THE QUOTES SECTION? WHATS THE POINT OF ELIMINATING IT? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 208.103.143.9 (talk) 10:25:28, August 19, 2007 (UTC)

He is scheduled to make his WWE match debut at No Mercy in a match against Shelton's mom and Little Bastard it is also rumored He Could Be Taking On Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch

Are You Kidding?

His real name is Montel Vontavious Porter. The November 2006 issue of Pro Wrestling Illustrated (the annual "PWI 500" edition) has Antonio Banks listed as number 368. The first line of his summary states, "Miami native currently competes under his given name of Montel Vontavious Porter (or MVP for short) in WWE's Deep South Wrestling developmental camp." I would edit the main page myself, but i am not sure how to properly state my source. --pud--10/30/06--10:46 AM

His real name is Antonio Banks, as stated by himself here. Not the first time PWI has been wrong. -- bd (talk to me) (watch me) 18:02, 30 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It's not that PWI is wrong. You're forgetting that much of PWI is written in kayfabe. When a guy debuts in WWE, they use the WWE backstory for him. His real name is Antonio Banks, though, 100% *botches a shooting star press* -- DomColosi 20:32, 6 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

His real name is actually Hasaan Asaad as revealed in the Wrestling Observer. He's just been telling people that Antonio Banks is his real name(that was one of earlier ring names).

This is the source. http://www.prowrestling.com/article/news/4381 This information is from the May 21, 2007 issue of the Wrestling Observer newsletter. Unlike PWI, they are not kayfabe.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Hal-El (talkcontribs).

The Wrestling Observer story is not a reliable story since it offers no sources, nor are any websites that parrot the information they find in that issue of Wrestling Observer. As soon as a reliable source is made available it can go in.«»bd(talk stalk) 02:40, 20 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Birthday.

OWW lists him as being born in 1970. Which is it? There's no way he went pro at 16. VelvetKevorkian 01:41, 1 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

And why not? Daivari had his first pro match at 15. Romis 19:13, 8 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Because look at the guy and tell me that he's only 20 years old. VelvetKevorkian 21:00, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Born in 1970

Guys, I don't know who keeps reverting the edits to 1985, as it does look like unregistered users. But other sites have MVP listed as 1970, which appears about right. Who supports locking this page to unregistered users?

P.S. To those who keep reverting it back to 1970 besides myself, thanks. Jgera5 02:27, 19 October 2006 (UTC). ok juss guessing i dont think its ether. ok i read the artical and i was thinking sence he said that he started getting into gangs when he was 12 so if he went in when he was 12 then he may be 21 but i doubet it[reply]

From the article "At age 16, I was sentenced to 18 years with a mandatory 3 years. All total I did 9 ½ years."«»bd(talk stalk) 14:50, 19 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ending this debate

Gerweck.net states that Antonio Banks was born in 1985 -- making him 21 -- while OWW says 1970 -- making him 36. However, the 1970 date is the only one of the two that makes sense, considering he was in prison from the ages of 16 to 25 according to an interview here. Please stop changing the date. --- bd Sup? - Where we goin'? 17:13, 3 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

If he was a prisoner why don't you put it on his page, proving people that he was born in 1970? You're just like any other guys, all talk, no actions.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Mistahkennedy (talkcontribs).

I have no idea what that means.«»bdI'm cool!I'm cocky! I'm bad! 19:33, 19 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

OWW's profile of Antonio Banks states that they contacted the Florida Department of Transportation and confirmed his birthdate to be 10/23/73. I have corrected it as such. Tino 03:12, 7 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

TTB

we should add the TTB back into his finishers with an (OVW) parenthesis

I don't think it shoulda been moved cause other Superstars have previous moves on there Finisher list.

Intro Music note (Silkk Tha Shocker "I'm Comin'")

I put down that this was Mark Henry's music, because it was Mark Henry's music before he changed it to "Some Bodies Gonna Get It" by "Three 6 Mafia". It was never intended for the boogieman, who ever started that up was totally wrong. Govvy 16:23, 22 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Either way it's not incredibly relevant to the article, so both notes have been removed. Neither claim has been cited.-- bd (talk to me) (watch me) 17:12, 22 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Actually Mark Henry never used I'm Comin'. When he stopped using "Echo", he started using Some Bodies Gonna Get It

Vandalism

Somebody has changed his height/weight, as well as other things upon reading this page. Perhaps it needs to be locked for only members to edit? --203.33.164.44 11:44, 9 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

PRISON

what the hell this has to be fake

MVP

is his apperence at survivor series worth any note at all?

or his winnig streak with deadly cage matches?

or his inferno match?

No, not at this point, no.«»bd(talk stalk) 23:00, 17 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Current picture

it looks like MVP has eaten a skunk, had violent diarrhea, and then smelt it. please can we find new one Mr Richardson 21:41, 14 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hasaan Assad is his real name.

Hasaan Assad is the real name of Antonio Banks/MVP. Just because it hasn't come out until now doesn't mean it isn't true. One of the most respected reporters of wrestling says that it is true. I am going to go with what he says as opposed to going with what everyone thought was true.— Preceding unsigned comment added by User:XNightfallx (talkcontribs)

Needs a real source. Every other source to this point has said Antonio Banks, including interviews with the man himself. Just because Dave Meltzer says something doesn't make it so, and until he provides proof it is considered possibly libelous. Do NOT add it back.«»bd(talk stalk) 00:16, 19 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

First of all, you can't just tell me not to add something back. Dave said that he got that info from people who worked with Assad/Porter in Deep South Wrestling. I don't know what would make you happy aside from MVP saying that it is in fact his real name. Why would anyone think to ask if his real name was or wasn't Antonio Banks? It sounds like a possible name. Nobody asks actors in interviews if their stage name is their real name. You just come to expect that a name that sounds like it could be real IS real.— Preceding unsigned comment added by User:XNightfallx (talkcontribs)

Please sign you comments using four tildes, like this: ~~~~.
I can tell you not to add it back because it violates wikipedias rules on biographies of living people, specifically the sections on possibly libel and Verifiability. "He heard it from a guy who worked with him once" is not verifiable, especially when everything else, everything that is verifiable, says something else. Any time it's added back it will be promptly removed. People adding it back with only Meltzer to back it up will be looked upon as vandals.«»bd(talk stalk) 11:55, 19 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm pretty sure you could figure all of this out by looking at criminal databases. Search for an Antonio Banks, and a Hasaan Assad in Florida. He was convicted of a felony, so it would be on record, and might even be online.Shatterzer0 02:49, 20 May 2007 (UTC)

The burden of proof falls upon those making the assertions, so doing the research falls upon those who want the article to say that his name is Hassaan Assad. Peace, The Hybrid 04:15, 20 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why does it really matter the guy probably changed his name after 9/11 because Hassaan Assad is a name of an accused terrorist I believe. 86.143.91.36 22:33, 20 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wouldn't that be OR anyway? --Maestro25 16:52, 20 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Surely this deserves a mention at least, sure as "one source has indicates his real name to be Hassan Assad"

He has good reason to lie about his name as wrestling often has stereotypical characters and with a name like Hassan Assad, he'd get given a poor Arab/terrorist gimmick very quickly

Though he has an Arab name, isn't he African American?

Appearantly, Hassan Assad is an alias. An offender information search at http://www.dc.state.fl.us/AppCommon/ reveals his name to actually be Alvin Burke Jr. The birthday and the picture matches, and lists Hassan Assad as an alias. I cannot hardlink the search, but a search for either Hassan Assad or Alvin Burke Jr will give you his information. A search for Antonio Banks gives no results. I am not sure where to go with this article with this information, so I thought I would post it here for others to look at. [[User:|74.71.246.6]] 23:46, 25 May 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for getting a stable link, and taking care of the edit. I didn't want to change anything without being able to directly link to a source. Okuzaone 07:14, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
That link uses a session ID which is not stable, I changed the url on the page to a stable non-session link. –– Lid(Talk) 07:16, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

His Real Name

His real name is actually Hassan Assad, he lied to WWE, which was revealed earlier today.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.32.1.146 (talkcontribs)

See above. See the notes in the article. It needs real proof.«»bd(talk stalk) 00:48, 20 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
He took the name in prison when he converted to Islam. His given name is Alvin Burke, JR. 65.189.210.173 20:07, 7 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

At Wrestleview and Wrestlinginc, they both claimed that MVP converted to Islam in prison and the Malcolm X tattoo is a prison tattoo.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Crippler4 (talkcontribs)

And they get that from WON, and WON is not a reliable source.«»bd(talk stalk) 02:19, 14 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Debut

According to the article his debut was in 1998 tho he was released from jail in 1999 is this a mistake or was he able to wrestle pro from jail? SimonD 23:38, 31 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've added citation tags for this. -- Oakster  Talk   07:28, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Signature Moves

I don´t think the "Sitout Side Powerslam" should be listed as a signature move, since he only used it once as a counter to Kendrick´s Sliced Bread #2. Just getting a win with it doesn´t make the move a signature move. 89.48.241.57 15:51, 19 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

He only used it once On SmackDown!. There is life outside of McMahonLand.«»bd(talk stalk) 16:28, 19 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I wasn´t talking about wwe. i´ve seen enough of him outside of smackdown to be able to say that he doesn´t, neither hasn´t used that move frequently... 89.48.232.45 17:00, 19 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

the hell is this

shakes head mvp is the damn us champion and this is all you guys write about what about how he retained agaisn't flair and all that and also couldn't we get a better pic— Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.141.161.245 (talkcontribs)

The Flair match was not part of a feud, had no build up, and nothing special occurred during or after it, it is non notable in every way so there's no reason to mention it. The picture used it free. It will not be replaced unless a better free use image comes along.«»bd(talk stalk) 19:18, 10 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Article Name Chance Proposal

I think the name of this article should be named MVP. I have been looking all throughout wikipedia for this man's article, only to find that the name of it is Alvine Burke. No WWE fan is going to look up Alvin Burke if they're trying to look up MVP. Trust me! The name of this article is ridiculous. No one knows him by this name. Well at least not the general public. And the name of the article should be something the general public knows as its information for the general public. Maybe Alvin Burke could be added into an article about MVP that it is his actual name, but this article is useless and wont get as many views or edits as it could if it were under tha name everyone knows him as. Please write if you oppose or agree down below.

Strong agree per my reasons above. Masta P 08:37, 9 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
