The 2001 NBA Draft took place on 27 June 2001 in New York City, New York. Kwame Brown became the first high school player drafted with the first overall pick. This draft is widely regarded as a good one for international players; Pau Gasol (Spain), Tony Parker (France) and Mehmet Okur (Turkey), would all go on to become NBA All-Stars. Gilbert Arenas was the steal of this draft, selected 31st by the Golden State Warriors. While many of the players selected ahead of him are either out of the league or playing backup roles, Arenas is a perrenial All-Star.
