Albert Einstein

Hi Tiptoety... you might consider undoing your experimental removal of the Albert Einstein semi-protection ;-)

Cheers, DVdm (talk) 08:13, 1 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I will keep an eye on it, but it appears to be being reverted quickly and has not reached the "needs protection" point. Thanks for letting me know, Tiptoety talk 16:28, 1 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Terrell Golden Article

Why not publish it? There are dozens of articles on not-especially-noteworthy college football players. Mine was properly sourced, well written, and fine by wikipedia standards.

See:

24.46.46.131 (talk) 16:35, 1 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Are you referring to a request I declined at articles for creation? Tiptoety talk 16:42, 1 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, he is. :D Enigma message 16:43, 1 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yep, looks like I made a mistake. I saw the part that read "He did not get drafted..." and I read not further seeing as it failed WP:BIO, but after reading a bit more closely I noticed he did get drafted at a later point. I am really busy right now, Enigma you want to create the article for me? :) Tiptoety talk 17:06, 1 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

National Beach Soccer Teams

I tried to create some beach soccer articles which you rejected commenting that they sounded like an advertisement. If you look at other beach soccer teams pages, you will find they are written exactly like my proposed articles, which were: Japan, Solomon Islands and Cameroon national beach soccer teams (29-jul). Beach Soccer articles such as Portugal national beach soccer team, France national beach soccer team and Iran national beach soccer team have all been accepted yet mine have not. I would like you to look at those articles and reconsider mine. 91.109.25.32 (talk) 17:17, 1 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I am willing to create them for you, but they need to be re-written in a non-advert tone. Cheers, Tiptoety talk 17:18, 1 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I am still confused why the other articles were created but not mine. Mine are exactly like them but you will not accept them. Why? 91.109.25.32 (talk) 17:28, 1 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Good call

Thanks for doing that - Alison 19:54, 1 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
No prob, I decided that making it an actual case instead of just having it laying around the RFCU mainpage was probably a bit safer (privacy) as we would be able to delete it from public view. Anyways, you are welcome. Tiptoety talk 22:18, 1 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

request

Tiptoety,

If you're going to block me in the future (which hopefully will not be necessary, but then I didn't think this last one was either), please use one of the standard templates, rather than whatever it was you did here. this action came off less like I was being sanctioned and more like I was being mugged. thanks. --Ludwigs2 19:55, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Apologies for any intrusion the block message may have caused. Cheers, Tiptoety talk 05:40, 3 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
no intrusion, and no worries (you gotta do what you gotta do, and I can't fault you for that). I just prefer things to be unambiguous, as much as possible.  :-) --Ludwigs2 03:09, 5 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Randy Orton

I think you did a big mistake by removing the protection from the article. Especially, with Orton injured, that attracts "IPs" to do some damage to the article. --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 04:00, 3 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, the proper way to handle it would have been to simply let me know there are some current BLP issues and ask me to reconsider, but please do not come to my talk page and yell. Thanks, Tiptoety talk 05:35, 3 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Wait, what? I didn't come here to yell, I just wanted to let you know. Why would I yell at you? --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 14:36, 4 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, sorry then. I guess it was the emphasis on "big" that made it come across as if you were yelling. Either way, no hard feelings at the page has been re-protected. Tiptoety talk 02:43, 7 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

RollBack

If you permit me I would like to use the rollback feature for counter vandalism...mostly IPs thanks

I am going to have to decline your request at this point in time seeing as you have little anti-vandalism experience. Please try using tools such as twinkle or the undo button and come back and request it in a month. Cheers, Tiptoety talk 19:23, 3 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks to everyone who participated in my RfA, regardless of their !vote. I have withdrawn the nomination as a failure at 19 supports, 45 opposes, and 9 neutral statements.

As has been written and sung, you can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you get what you need — and what I need is to go back to working on our shared project. Not everyone has to be an admin; there is a role for each of us. After reflection, I feel I don't have the temperament to secure community consensus as an admin at any point, and I will not be applying again in the future — and hey, that's all right, 'cause I stay true to the philosophy that adminship is no big deal: I tried, I failed, and now I'll return to doing what I've always done. I have an extremely strong belief in the consensus process, and the consensus was clear. I will be devoting my energies to volunteering at MedCab and working up a complete series of articles on the short stories of Ernest Hemingway, among lord knows what else. Thanks again to everyone who spared the time to weigh in on this one. It was made in better faith than it probably seemed.
Mr. IP Defender of Open Editing 14:08, 4 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for weighing in at my RfA. I did not mean to make a POINT violation or disrupt the project, but as I just posted to Jza84, "it looks like a lot of users in good standing disagree, so I am going to shut up and take the criticism". Anyway, as you see in the template above, I am not planning to re-request adminship, so you don't have to worry. I am going to continue working in areas which don't require the tools, and just enjoy my participation in the greatest encyclopedia ever built. I hope to see you around in this work — and have a nice vacation! Mr. IP Defender of Open Editing 14:08, 4 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for remaining civil, calm, and reasonable throughout this whole ordeal. Much appreciated, Tiptoety talk 17:50, 4 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Can you fix this?

I was blocked briefly last week when a user with the same IP number as mine created some mischief. I was swiftly unblocked. Now I'm not blocked from editing, in the sense that I can edit any of the articles I've created, etc., but when I click on my username this message appears: This user is blocked from editing Wikipedia indefinetly

This has caused confusion among my colleagues. How can this be fixed?Hohenloh (talk) 18:56, 4 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Would you be able to semi-protect this page? It's under constant, regular (if a bit infrequent, 5-6 times a day) vandalism from IP addresses. Ironholds 03:26, 6 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, i'm concerned this user, who you have dealt with for sockpuppetry recently, is using sockpuppets again for vandalism. After I undid his edit here [1], a new account was opened to vandalise, User talk:Pig faced pratt, and the same article was vandalised with the edit summary "socks work don't they!" [2] That account was blocked. Since then Dodgechris discovered he was unable to use his main account and left this message on his talk page asking why he'd been blocked, even though no blocking of the Dodgechris account appears to have taken place [3]. I dont know much about blocking, but could this be that the ip of the vandal that was blocked also blocked his main account when he subsequently logged in? He doesnt only vandalise, but he has trouble taking on advice from others, and sadly doesnt appear to learn from mistakes.GGMoan 13:54, 6 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

...sigh... it does appear that he has once again used multiple accounts in a abusive manner and as such I went ahead and indef blocked the account. Thanks, Tiptoety talk 02:57, 7 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Block request for latest Ronosen sock

Hi Tiptoety, could you block and tag User:Platypusbeak, who was confirmed as the latest Ronosen sock here: Wikipedia:Requests_for_checkuser/Case/Ronosen? Thanks, priyanath talk 18:41, 6 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Clerk note: - blocked and tagged & CU updated. 'bout time you took a break and I did some clerking for you, Tiptoety :) - Alison 18:49, 6 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
;-) Thanks for dealing with that Alison, let me know if there is anything else I can do to help. Cheers, Tiptoety talk 02:44, 7 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I just wanted to use the  Clerk note: template :) You do some awesome work! - Alison 07:21, 8 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please re-protect the Pie article

Hello there.  :) You unprotected the Pie article, and since then there has been nothing but a steady stream of vandalism from anon IPs. Please re-protect this when you get the chance. Thank you, RFerreira (talk) 20:10, 7 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You know Dodgechris who you blocked, well i am one of his friends who lives behind his house, you know he has recently been blocked for sockpuppetry, i am at his house now and he is bauling his eyes out right now, he so far has three bucketfulls of tears and if you unblock his account you will also be doing his parents a favour because if he is not unblocked he will be crying all night and will keep his parents awake. Thanks. I love energy drinks 21:45, 7 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Quack!. Tiptoety talk 17:12, 8 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hey sparky, while no one appreciates the need for blocking morons on occasion more than I do, you managed to block just about every IP at a state health lab while attempting to block one user named Sumerophile. While I don't know if he works here (or is on campus), I fail to see how blocking legitimate users (like myself) who don't always want to login to make a quick change or comment helps Wikipedia. Not for nothing, but it also makes hard to bring this issue up with anyone when the IP range block makes it impossible to leave a note explaining the situation. Might want to take a look at your block and use selective IP targeting instead of the internet equivalent carpet bombing. Thanks. Carpe queso. (KeeperOTD (talk) 21:13, 7 August 2008 (UTC))[reply]

Hi there, I would first off like to apologize for any inconvenience this may be causing you but I also would like you to see this request for checkuser. Unless my blocking of this range has resulted in your inability to edit via this account (which it appears you can) there is not much I can do, and at this time I am unwilling to undo the range block. Cheers, Tiptoety talk 22:01, 7 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Protection conversation at WP:AN

I am wondering if you would like to comment here. Thanks. Chick Bowen 01:18, 8 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Not too sure how it relates to me seeing as I protected the article almost a month ago, but I am happy to comment and have done so. Cheers, Tiptoety talk 17:12, 8 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Unblock user plyjacks from wikipedia

Please unblock the user plyjacks. Just delete the sock puppets. Learn from your mistakes. I know plyjacks because I'm his best friend. I grew up with him. 07:42, 9 August 2008 (UTC)
