Black Conservatism is a rising political and social movement within African American culture which emphasizes self-reliance, patriotism, Christian values and higher education. The origins of the movement can be traced back to Booker T. Washington. Contemporary black conservatives find common ground with other American conservatives but tend to focus on the economic, political and social issues affecting African American communities.

Black Conservatives tend to be nationalist and favor racial integration as a strategy for empowerment.
