Tennis To-do:

Here are some tasks awaiting attention:

Heaped High and Deep !!

This Wikipedia article on Safin is heaped high and deep with bullshit, and half of it could easily be removed (discarded of) to leave an efficient encyclopedia article. This article gives the impression of being written by Safin's girlfriends and boyfriends who heaped it up high and deep.

Safin is not really a V.I.P. of a person like M. Gandhi, Neil Armstrong, Dwight Eisenhower, or Simon Bolivar, and people need to put things into perspective. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.163.48.66 (talk) 14:19, 25 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Testing Federer

"Safin is widely recognized as the player who can test Federer the most with his talent and his arsenal of powerful shots."

The player? Rafael Nadal, anyone? Maybe "one of the players" would be better...

yes !

We need a pic

Apparently the last pic we had of Marat didn't have any copyright information and was subsequently deleted. Old pics of Marat were deleted because they were orphaned. Does anyone out there have a pic we can use? It shouldn't be copyrighted, ideally. --Noelle De Guzman (talk) 04:04, 20 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

WHY WONT U JUST KEEP THE CLOSEUP OF HIS RACQUET SHOWING THAT THERES NO FLEXPOINTS OR LIQUIDMETAL RIDGES????

Please add the link to the Ido Wikipedia

How about updating the man's record. According to the ATP Website he is 12-10 this year. Thanks.

Infobox - Ranking

Wasn't he ranked 1st at some point?216.15.43.6 (talk) 21:40, 4 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. Why? мirаgeinred سَراب ٭ (talk) 02:01, 5 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Non-practicing

Someone has added a line saying that he is a non-praciticing Muslim born to non-practicing parents and the reference for this is Anna Kournikova's website's bio which says nothing about Marat Safin or his family. Can someone please revert this to a prior version which had sourced information? (I'm not sure how to do it and don't want to mess it up :)) Inf fg (talk) 13:59, 6 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Mikhail?

His father Mikhail Safin is apparently Tatar but why would he have an Orthodox Christian name like Mikhail (Michael) if that was the case? Whelanmk (talk) 12:29, 19 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Michael is a hebrew name, you moron. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.212.82.47 (talk) 00:42, 21 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Beat Sampras at a GS in his prime??

In a word, no. Marat only played safin in a major once during his prime, and Sampras beat Safin in straight sets. The sentence in question, which I'm going to remove, bad grammar and all: Marat Safin is one of few players, to beat both Pete Sampras and Roger Federer in a Grand Slam during their peaks.66.190.29.150 (talk) 20:36, 18 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
