Hello and welcome to my talk page. Please note that I will reply to you on this page unless you request otherwise. Please watch this page if you comment.

Further, please note:

Please take note of my status and the time where I live. If I'm not online, I'll reply when I am, but feel free to look at my contact page for other methods of contact.

Please use a ==descriptive header== and sign & date your posts by typing four tildes (~~~~) at the end of your message.

Please use [[wikilinks]] when mentioning users and pages.

I will not reply directly to attacks, innuendo or general incivility. You will be wasting your time if you're here for that. I may however reply via a warning on your own talk page or a report to the Administrators' incident noticeboard. Save your time and mine so that we can both use it to build a better Wikipedia.

Please note that I archive talk posts so if commenting on an old thread from the archives, consider starting a new thread.

Please note that I am a "regular". Do not template me as I will surely revert. For more info, refer to WP:DTTR.

With all that said, ask away and I'll try and help.

RFC/User page indexing

To answer your edit summary, it is very similar to Gigs, but not completely. I edit conflicted with him when I attempted to save mine. I copy/saved my statement then endorsed his. When I attempted to post mine again, I highlighted the sample text and accidentally hit ctrl-c instead of ctrl-v, so I had to start all over again. Mine does, however, go a little more specific with why internal pages need not be indexed, and I mentioned BLP specifically, as it's an important point. لennavecia 19:37, 26 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Gotcha. Thanks. - ALLSTRecho wuz here 19:42, 26 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding images and sound samples: MJ as a featured article went through a heavy amount of scrutiny to include non-free content. For the purpose of encyclopedic analysis of an artist's music, sound samples are quite essential, even by the editors who specialize in WP:NFCC who are involved in reviewing music-related content. Janet Jackson, AC/DC, Alice in Chains, Phil Collins, John Frusciante, R.E.M. are other (among numerous) articles that feature several audio samples. Also, the article currently has one non-free image: the screen shot of "Scream". The Bookkeeper (of the Occult) 22:25, 26 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

One sound sample would suffice.. no need in 3 of them. - ALLSTRecho wuz here 22:55, 26 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I disagree. As with every music-related article, different audio samples are used to highlight different techniques used by the musician, particularly the evolution of an artists music over the course of their career. The Bookkeeper (of the Occult) 23:05, 26 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
As with all non-free content, it should be made very clear in the text why such content is included. If a reliable source says that a sound byte is integral to understanding Jackson's influence or effect, it should be included. If it does not say so, it should either be removed or the text amended to reflect it. A thorough discussion regarding how much nonfree content to use in a single article is always useful. I have no doubt that it was already had during FAC or its preparation, and that it will continue to be had. --Moni3 (talk) 00:11, 27 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Rename

Thanks for letting me know about the speedy deletion of Template:Rename; sounds like it's worth killing now :o) — OwenBlacker (Talk) 10:38, 27 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

WP:CROSS is only an essay, and what it claims as consensus looks wrong, either because it is unclear or consensus has changed. Cross-namespace redirects can be freely used (within reason) for certain namespaces, and they are exempt from CSD R2, but redirects to user space don't have that exemption. Even if speedy deletion is declined, the redirects are unlikely to be kept – Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Wikipedia:ASTAR, Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Wikipedia:ZN and Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Wikipedia:ASE were all deleted, and they weren't in the main namespace. snigbrook (talk) 00:11, 28 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

That was wikilaywering when you recreated them. Of course they are now on MFD, see here. Garion96 (talk) 08:43, 28 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I haven't logged in in a while so I didn't see your message, but I recently updated the digiclock template I made and it now supports a time zone offset as you and Cubs197 had suggested. It should be more useful now. • Anakin (talk) 03:41, 28 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have nominated Wikipedia:Notability (uglyness) (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs) for discussion. Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at the discussion page. Thank you. ╟─TreasuryTagcabinet─╢ 17:11, 29 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hullaballo saga continues/ Any word whether he is a blocked editor?

Transmarch image

I'm not sure if you read my reply, but the image contains multiple geometry which does not qualify for PD ineligible. ZooFari 22:33, 29 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It only contains 1 simple geometric shape, a star. Everything else is text. Per {{PD-textlogo}}, this logo is not copyrightable because it ..only consists of typefaces, individual words, slogans, or simple geometric shapes.. - ALLSTRecho wuz here 22:36, 29 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It contains text, a fixed star with a stroke, a background, and 3 colors. Seems too picky but something ineligible would basically be text. But if you insist, the image falls under your responsibility. ZooFari 22:42, 29 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Currently a redirect this should be an article. The Free State of Jones (film) is in production as well. I was skimming through the WSJ when I thought of you when seeing "Rebelling Against the Rebels: Deep in Mississippi’s piney woods, Confederate deserters fought a different sort of war". -- Banjeboi 11:41, 30 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Didn't know about the book, thanks! I'm the one that created the The Free State of Jones (film) stub. Due to the past drama with my articles, I'm not creating any new articles for Wikipedia, but I do agree that it should have its own article instead of a redirect to a blurb about it. - ALLSTRecho wuz here 17:10, 30 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You may not have known about this account

But did you create User:ASE? I not, then that user may be an impersonater.Abce2|Free LemonadeOnly 25 cents! 18:09, 30 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, it's my WP:Doppleganger. See User talk:T'Shael#Dopple. Thanks. - ALLSTRecho wuz here 18:12, 30 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It might be useful to have a little statement somewhere on your page saying something along the lines of "I own the following doppelganger account(s): User:ASE..." That could help alleviate any confusion of impersonation such as in this case (or even headoff concerns of sockpuppetry). LadyofShalott 18:17, 30 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Was just looking at the templates for doing that. The account was just created about 5 minutes ago. Of course, anyone with a keen eye will notice the shortcut box at the top of this page too. ;] - ALLSTRecho wuz here 18:19, 30 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Billy Mays's Photo.

Why can't I have this photo uploaded?

http://d.yimg.com/a/p/ap/20090628/capt.856cd44b928c42aa8ad30bdbcbe2b5aa.obit_billy_mays_ny113.jpg?x=359&y=345&q=85&sig=xZlZtY7QgxkcNb5EgY6.uw--

What's wrong with it and how do I do it? How do I upload it? I want the one they have up right now removed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Hightek669 (talkcontribs) 19:29, 30 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I explained it already to you at Talk:Billy Mays: Files - photos, images, videos, etc. - have to be in the public domain and freely available to use. Please read Wikipedia:Non-free content. The photo you have linked to isn't and can't be used on Wikipedia. If you upload it, it will be deleted. - ALLSTRecho wuz here 19:48, 30 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Allstarecho. This message is being sent to inform you that there currently is a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding personal attacks and intimidation. Thank you.Delicious carbuncle (talk) 20:57, 30 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Eye candy. I repeat, we now have eye candy.

If all Republican politicians looked like him, I'd consider rejoining the GOP. I was going to add two pictures, but I guess they should be uploaded to Commons. Can you be of service? I'll add the pix and Commons link if you upload. (Do you want me to get down on my knees...and beg?) APK is your own Personal Jesus 02:00, 1 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Just let me know which ones and where ya want 'em. - ALLSTRecho wuz here 02:02, 1 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  2. File:Illinois Congressman Aaron Schock at Beardstown River in 2009.PNG
  3. File:Illinois Congressman Aaron Schock at a school in 2009.PNG

There you go. Assholes need to date their images. I figured out what day the 2 images at the school were taken but have no idea on the one at the Beardstown River. - ALLSTRecho wuz here 02:59, 1 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Gracias. There's a short caption on each photo (move your mouse near the top of the image), and the photo sets have a short description. But yeah, no dates = sucky. APK is your own Personal Jesus 03:36, 1 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

ANI Post on You

I have boldly closed Delicious carbuncle's ANI post on you. It seems he is block shopping and two users have said that no admin assistance is needed. I have asked him the same and I will ask you the same, please stay as far away from each other as you can and you will not have any issues with each other. No good can come from that ANI post. - NeutralHomerTalk23:52, 1 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately, Delicious carbuncle has reverted my bold close. I will not revert him (so as not to start an edit war) so the ANI post continues. Sorry, I tried. - NeutralHomerTalk01:49, 2 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
As I said in my edit summary when I made my one and only post there yesterday, that was my 1 and only reply to that thread, there will be no more. So I'm not even going there to say anything. I know what he's trying to do. Others, such as yourself, know what he's trying to do. I noticed throughout the day how he gradually added bits to his "opening statement" of the ANI thread, trying to bump it so others would pay attention to it. Needless to say, I'm not the one following him around Wikipedia. He's the one following me around. That's why I made the decision that I would not participate in that ANI farce except for that one lone reply to it yesterday. Thanks for the heads up and for trying to spread some common sense at ANI. :] - ALLSTRecho wuz here 04:47, 2 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Matt Sanchez may be violating his article ban

Hi. If you take a look at the Matt Sanchez talk page over the last 30 days, you will find many similarly written arguments from various anonymous IPs have been placed there, all with the goal of turning the article into self-promotion. I'm not going to sock-tag the IP pages, but I'd like to call it to your attention, as you have a history of dealing with this in a civilized manner. Thanks --StephenLaurie (talk) 08:27, 2 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
