The Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort (aka: Trump Taj, The Taj) is located at 1000 Boardwalk in Atlantic City, New Jersey, in the bustling casino area along the shore. The casino is owned by Trump Entertainment Resorts. With approximately 75 regular tables and 14 tournament tables, the Taj Mahal has one of the largest poker rooms in Atlantic City, second in size only to the Borgata. The poker room was also featured in the 1998 movie Rounders. It is currently undergoing a $250 million renovation and addition of a new hotel tower, which commenced groundbreaking in July 2006. The hotel has 1,250 guest rooms, including 237 suites.
The casino was officially inaugurated in 1990, which was built at a total cost of nearly one billion dollars. Throughout the years it has been the most popular place for tourists due to its name and size.
The late musician, Michael Jackson, participated in the Opening Ceremonies in 1990 when the Trump Taj Mahal opened for the first time.
