Orphaned non-free image (File:NBC snake logo.png)
You've uploaded File:NBC snake logo.png, and indicated that it's used under Wikipedia's rules for non-free images. However, it's not presently used in any articles. Wikipedia policy requires that non-free images be either used or deleted, so if this image isn't used in an article in the next week, it will be deleted.
This is an automated notice by FairuseBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 13:39, 6 January 2009 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (File:Arrow4logo.png)
Thanks for uploading File:Arrow4logo.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:07, 8 January 2009 (UTC)

I think the image should be reverse(top-below) according to Chinese tradition. see Bagua. And File:Voute_celeste_chinoise-xiu28xiang4.png also have this problem.--Keyi 00:48, 10 January 2009 (UTC)
DYK nomination of Simone de Beauvoir Prize
Hello Mysid! I've submitted Simone de Beauvoir Prize at the Did you know nominations page. They liked the hook but there is still some issues regarding length of the article. Since the Simone de Beauvoir Prize is a Feminist related article and since you are active in that field, I thought you might want to help us, expanding the article as soon as possible so it could qualify to be on the first page of en.wikipedia. btw here is the nomination's entry. Thanks --Kaaveh (talk) 11:46, 13 January 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks! I'll see what I can do to improve it. ›mysid (☎∆✎) 13:23, 13 January 2009 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Scandinavian Weekend Radio
A tag has been placed on Scandinavian Weekend Radio requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.) or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Thanks for your reply. The video is freely available on You tube at this link.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RM9o4VnfHJU So I think the file is free under fair use. —Preceding unsigned comment added by M.aly (talk • contribs) 11:48, 8 April 2009 (UTC)
- Most content on the Internet is freely available but still copyrighted. Watch the whole video and in the end you will see "© Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute 2009". Also, the images fail the first criterion in our fair-use policy, because it is entirely possible to find the fish and take a free photograph; please see Wikipedia:Non-free content criteria. ›mysid (☎∆✎) 12:28, 8 April 2009 (UTC)

Image tagging for File:BBC2W logo.png
Thanks for uploading File:BBC2W logo.png. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Regarding your Conscription map of the world
I would like to point out that Indonesia does not exercise conscription. The citation from this source states 18 years of age for selective compulsory and voluntary military service;. This means that by law the government has the right to draft people to the military selectively, but this is not practised at this present time as there is no need for it. I hope you would update the map, thanks. --Hamster X 17:45, 26 April 2009 (UTC)

Kuinka voit?
It's been a while. I've been too inactive around here to have any clue what's going on. Sooo...what's new in the 'pedia lately?
Cheers, 21655 ταλκ/01ҁ 20:55, 21 May 2009 (UTC)
PS: You're Aspergian as well? PPS: In case you forgot, we used to chat a lot on IRC.
- Hi! Voin ihan hyvin. I don't think there's much new, I've just been editing casually and adding SVGs. Well, the license is about to change from GFDL to a GFDL/CC-BY-SA double license. PS. Yes. PPS. I didn't forget. ›mysid (☎∆✎) 17:09, 22 May 2009 (UTC)
- Same here. I've only been doing the occasional correction or grammar fix, as I'm taking a nice long anti-vandal break.
- GFDL confuses me; CC makes more sense to me. But wait, is it just your files or WP as a whole?
- Good that you didn't forget! Heheheh. We should keep in touch, definitely. I'll email you later.
- Cheers, 21655 ταλκ/01ҁ 17:21, 22 May 2009 (UTC)
- PS: So am I. I suppose that explains, to some extent, our perfect English, huh? XD
- PPS: Wow, you know Swedish as well? Do they teach that in Finland? (Also, did you get my email?)
- Yes, Swedish is an official language of Finland (see Languages of Finland and Finland Swedish). It's part of the compulsory curriculum in all schools. ›mysid (☎∆✎) 18:50, 26 May 2009 (UTC)
- Hmm, interesting. I wonder why Norway's languages aren't shared as well. And for that matter, there are two types of Norwegian!
- Reading adventure ahoy, I suppose. 21655 ταλκ/01ҁ 19:39, 26 May 2009 (UTC)

- It's WP as a whole; currently the text is under GFDL, it will change to GFDL+CC. The files will, I suppose, stay under whatever license they're released. (Yes, I got your email and added you on MSN.) ›mysid (☎∆✎) 23:19, 26 May 2009 (UTC)
Hmm. Can you point me to the news article or proposal where this was decided? I want to see for myself why exactly they're doing it.(Good, good, but I just found out the problem: we live seven hours apart, and I leave school at 3:00...best to use email, eh?) 21655 ταλκ/01ҁ 18:09, 27 May 2009 (UTC)- Found it. I have a strange habit of not noticing giant banners like those. (PS: I just translated "Voin ihan hyvin" in Google. I got the gist of the result, but I didn't know Engrish could result from languages other than Japanese!) 21655 ταλκ/01ҁ 17:19, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
topro webcam in linux
Hello, Mysid.
I just read your post here and since I happen to have the same webcam (and started using Linux recently), I thought I'd ask you whether you got any progress on that. If you want some help/motivation on the reverse-engineering thing, I'd be glad to help! --Waldir talk 21:02, 21 May 2009 (UTC)
- No, I'm sorry I didn't get any progress at all. I finally opened the webcam to look for info about the chipset and such – I managed to short something and the webcam was destroyed for good... Next time I'll look for drivers before buying. :) ›mysid (☎∆✎) 19:13, 22 May 2009 (UTC)

- Yeah, it cost about €10. (I even wrote to Topro about the specs for the chipset, twice, but they wouldn't reply.) ›mysid (☎∆✎) 21:56, 22 May 2009 (UTC)

NowCommons: File:Ikea logo.svg
File:Ikea logo.svg is now available on Wikimedia Commons as Commons:File:Ikea logo.svg. This is a repository of free media that can be used on all Wikimedia wikis. The image will be deleted from Wikipedia, but this doesn't mean it can't be used anymore. You can embed an image uploaded to Commons like you would an image uploaded to Wikipedia, in this case: [[File:Ikea logo.svg]]. Note that this is an automated message to inform you about the move. This bot did not copy the image itself. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:23, 31 May 2009 (UTC)

Hello.
Hello, Mysid, great work on vectorizing flags, and such. I have one little request here for you. Could you vectorize the flag below, use a brighter shade of yellow for the middle field, and upload it to Commons for me? Thanks in advance. Any problems, let me know. Thanks Connormah (talk) 22:08, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

- Is there any info about its license? And what is it based on? ›mysid (☎∆✎) 22:22, 2 July 2009 (UTC)
- It is PD, from what I know. What do you mean by 'based on'? Connormah (talk) 22:42, 2 July 2009 (UTC)
- Sadly, Canadian municipal flags are usually copyrighted and I can't make a freely licensed derivative work of such an image. By "based on" I meant a source stating that it is indeed PD. ›mysid (☎∆✎) 12:37, 3 July 2009 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for File:Kevätpörriäinen.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Kevätpörriäinen.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. –Drilnoth (T • C • L) 17:27, 23 July 2009 (UTC)
