Young Pirates (Junge Piraten; generally called JuPis) is the youth organization of the German Pirate Party (Piratenpartei Deutschland). The organization was founded in Wiesbaden on April 18, 2009, when the first board of directors was chosen.[1] Since then the board of directors is chosen yearly by the present members on the federal meeting of members. At the first federal meeting of members in 2009 the construction of the board of directors was changed. Since then it has included seven board members, the chairman and its deputy, the secretary general, the treasurer as well as three assessors.

Regional organizations exist in Berlin, Lower Saxony, North Rhine-Westphalia and Hesse. [2] No membership to the mother party is necessary. There exists no minimum age for a membership, but a limiting age of 27 years. This border is not valid for honorary members.

The mascot of the Young Pirates is called "Flummi", what means bouncy ball in German.
