Description
There is a type of mashup called a "YouTube Poop" and I was trying to add it as such, but apparently, calling that type of mashup by its proper name of "YouTube Poop" is considered vandalism. Chowdertheshow (talk) 23:09, 23 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, we had the same problem on this same page a few days ago. This particular filter only triggers on users who aren't autoconfirmed, so if you were to edit for four days and make at least 10 edits in that time, you would be free to talk about YouTube Poop or any other kind of poop without worrying about the filter. I apologize that it has to be this way, as this filter has triggered three false positives just today, but on the other hand it has also caught hundreds of true positives. -- Soap Talk/Contributions 23:24, 23 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've gone ahead and added the edit for now, though as I've said twice before, there's no reliable source for it; the best I can do is Wikia YouTube. -- Soap Talk/Contributions 23:33, 23 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It's because the link you were adding contains "x-n2o", which is the same as your username. A silly little rule, but it actually helps us stop spam more often than not. Since you've been here for a year I'm going to assume you're not intent on spamming us, or you would have done it a long time ago. This particular filter triggers until you have 100 edits so in this case I can't say "make a few more edits and you'll be OK". -- Soap Talk/Contributions 16:02, 23 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

On second thought, it looks like your edit went through, although it was "flagged" as suspicious. Thanks for reporting it. -- Soap Talk/Contributions 16:07, 23 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Every single one of this user's edits is adding a site with his own username in the domain name. Today he has been repeatedly adding a blog post written yesterday. The tagging is completely fair. Haakon (talk) 16:43, 23 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed. He's edit-warring to try and keep a link in the Advanced Encryption Standard article which three editors (so far) have removed. I wouldn’t have caught this without the tag. I just gave him a 3rr warning. Samboy (talk) 19:07, 23 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Even though you didn't actually type FAG, the way the MediaWiki software handles diffs means that inserting a word on a line means that anything after it on the same line is treated as "new" text. I don't know if there's any way to fix this problem currently, but thank you for reporting it. This particular filter will stop bothering you as soon as you reach 10 edits (right now you have 7). -- Soap Talk/Contributions 15:58, 23 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It's because one of the episodes contained the word "poop". I would add the edit, but I don't think the article really needs a list of 180 episodes, particularly since it's up for deletion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Is it a good idea to microwave this. However, if it survives its deletion attempt, you should be able to add the episode list in a few days, because you will have achieved autoconfirmed status. -- Soap Talk/Contributions 01:15, 22 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I was editing Solon High School as all references to Anthony Sanson is all incorrect. I went to the high school and know that the mascot is not a ribeye steak. I am trying to clean up the site.

The edit was denied because you wrote "is gay" in the alma mater section. If this was a mistake, please be more careful next time. I've gone ahead and reverted the vandal edits that you were trying to clean up. -- Soap Talk/Contributions 21:12, 21 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If you are 68.254.203.190 (talk · contribs), I think the filter triggered because you added the word "gay" to the article, even though it was a legitimate. There is currently no way to distinguish between legitimate and illegitimate uses of this word. -- Soap Talk/Contributions 21:17, 21 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Mashup (video) (filter log)
Description
I was adding a section of text that was not vandalious in any way, shape or form. It directly stated the truthful names of the most common video mashups, techniques, and the profile names of the most well known mashup makers. Text that was used is here: "The bulk of these "mashups" are also referred to as "Youtube Poops" or YTPs. YTPs often utilize a wide range of different techniques, including the ones mentioned above, to create their "poops". Some of the most well known (and in some people's opinions, the most well liked) "Poopers" include: WalrusGuy, Deppercut, BMATF (or bigmarioandtailsfan), SSBMEXPERT, thechairman45, wikiwow, boogidyboo, captpan6, oiramapap (also known as igiulamam), Vorhias, Youtubepoop, StegBlob, MeiAIDS, IkwaylxZ, Jaklub, and IAMGOOMBA just to name a few. YTP has gone under many slogans and pictures, though most pictures incorporate the YouTube logo(often modified) and the words poop somewhere in the picture, and are often accompanied by the line "Where there's smoke, they pinch back." Also, an under-promoted news group, YTPNews, headed on the profile YTPnews1, has been on youtube for some time now, and provides sources, a "poop of the week", and often random bits of information relating to YTPs." There is nothing malicious about this block of text. The term "Youtube Poop" is commonly used on YouTube (Don't believe me? do a video search of Youtube poop and you will come up with thosands, maybe even millions, of videos that are "Youtube Poops". The rightful name of these videos should be capable of being utilized in Wikipedia, to prevent censorship. (Does the recent incident where a German murder filed a lawsuit against Wikipedia, causing Wikipedia to object, calling it censorship, ring any bells here?)

I'm familiar with YouTube Poop, yes. I'm not sure if the edit you attempted to make is verifiable enough to stand, but you can bring it up on Talk:Mashup (video) if you like, because the talk pages of articles aren't watched in the same way the articles themselves are. Also, this particular filter only triggers on users who aren't "autoconfirmed", so if you were to register an account and edit for four days with it and make at least 10 edits in that time, you would be free to talk about YouTube Poop or any other kind of poop without worrying about the filter. I apologize that it has to be this way, as this filter has triggered three false positives just today, but on the other hand it has also caught hundreds of true positives. -- Soap Talk/Contributions 01:55, 18 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The edit was disallowed because it contained the phrase "Dr Poop", and currently the filter is set to block the word "poop" except in certain exempt phrases such as "poop deck". I've gone ahead and reverted the other edit now so it should be OK. Thanks for reporting this here. This filter may need to be pacified a bit since it has triggered at least three false positives just today, though I'm not sure if this is typical. -- Soap Talk/Contributions 01:51, 18 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It caught the description of William Paulinha's sexual orientation. Too many new users of Wikipedia vandalize pages with possibly defamatory comments related to a living person's sexual orientation. Wikipedia takes defamation of living people very seriously, and this edit filter errs on the side of safety. If you spend a week editing unrelated pages before writing about sexual orientations, the filter will assume you are serious about improving the encyclopedia. --Damian Yerrick (talk | stalk) 22:26, 10 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It is dangerous to edit articles about sex. Ruslik_Zero 09:14, 4 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yet it is entirely appropriate around here, even for anons. The filter "just" warned, but it didn't disallow, as far as I can see. I'm not sure if it'll be possible for such edits not to hit the usual profanity filters. --Conti| 14:15, 13 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
By "dangerous" I meant that it triggered three filters simultaneously , one of which (9) would have disallowed the edit if the user attempted to save it. Anyway, due to a known bug the "warn->tag->warn" sequence is an equivalent of "disallow". Ruslik_Zero 14:35, 13 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, I didn't know that. Filter 9 should probably be modified accordingly, then. Maybe so it excludes articles in Category:Human sexuality or something. --Conti| 14:45, 13 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
whatever the problem, the edits i attempted were all, i believe, constructive and...while they might perhaps trigger a warning filter (it is rather difficult to edit article ABOUT sex without using sexual terms)...should not have been disallowed when i hit "save" again. if anything, it should have hit a pending hopper whereby a registered user could review and approve or disapprove of pending edits. (i had not looked at this "false positive" page for some days following the "it is dangerous to to edit articles about sex" rather dismissive response.)--98.113.187.11 (talk) 10:35, 22 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
