Clarification... first time I submitted I used archive dot eye ess with http at the front, and got the "correct" message (albeit a pretty rude one).

Second time I submitted, I had removed the http from the front, which then gave me the generic 'you are bad' message, with no indication that the problem was *still* archive dot eye ess.

Checking my filter-log here, showed that it was still the archive dot eye ess filter that was tripping... just with the generic, rather than the indicative-of-the-problem, errmsg.

Please fix the regex, so that *all* triggers of the anti-archive-dot-eye-ess abuseFilter, actually print the errmsg which *says* what the problem is. Danke. p.s. Also, checking for SGML comments might be nice. :-) — 74.192.84.101 (talk) 22:17, 1 January 2014 (UTC)

Unfortunately, due to the way the filter system works, this is how "warn+disallow" work - they first display the warning (which can be set for individual filters), then the generic "disallow" warning on the second try. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 09:18, 2 January 2014 (UTC)

@Od Mishehu: MediaWiki:Abusefilter-disallowed‎ is the warning that is given when an edit is disallowed (even after a warning). You could modify that and add a parser function to detect which filter is being triggered ($1 is the description, $2 is the filter ID, so you probably want to use $2). 88.113.145.84 (talk) 18:05, 3 January 2014 (UTC)

Your stupid filter on the talk page of Depopulated Arab villages in Israel blocked this comment I was trying to make in reply to someone who made a ludicrous request to delete an article:

Doubt you'll be able to convince enough of even the most douchebag Wikipedia editors that we should be deleting articles that are subject to controversy, on that basis alone.

Apparently it was because I used the word "douchebag." Profanity in and of itself should not result in an entire comment being considered "unconstructive" nor should we be required to write like academics or bureaucrats or "polite society" in the Talk section simply because that is some peoples' preference. These stupid bots do more harm than good, and, are, in effect, a perfunctory and somewhat arbitrary censorship device based on language style rather than meaningful content. You Wikicrats who create and maintain these things are some truly sorry people.

Particularly those range blocks which include several very large groups, several universities and colleges and even a couple countries if I am reading them correctly. Many of which have been in place for a more than 3 years, some for as long as 10 years. Anything more than a year is unnecessary in my opinion. If we unblock it and are flooded with vandals then extend it for another year, but this indefinate blocking is abusive and needs to be restricted. That was standard archiving, see here. The block would have been for adding {{findnotice}}, as that creates external links. It appears to be set up to block any IP edit that involves external edits, even when the IP edit is adding a recognised template. - Right. That part is clear. And, the backlog in dealing with all these false-poz reports about abuseFilters is also clear. Which is why I redid my 100 changes, manually, already. But the problem of over-aggressive abuseFilters remains, for myself in the future, and for anybody else bitten by them. See above, where the anon was trying to get rid of WP:NOTPROMOTION, and was prevented by the abuseFilter. See my own abuseFilter log, where I'm trying to help new users, who often have very little clue on how our idiosyncratic talkpages work. This particular abuseFilter has never bothered me before the last few weeks, so it is either a new abuseFilter, or a new wrinkle in the regex of an existing abuseFilter. It is set to deny-with-no-useful-message-and-no-workaround, just like many other abuseFilters (see elsewhere on this page for people that are trying to revert vandalism, but because archive.dot.eye.ess happened to be in the vandalism-reversion-content, get bitten by the abuseFilter). Is there any point in reporting false-poz, with the recommendation that the level of abuseFilter-aggressiveness be changed, to warn-not-deny? Or are we so short on editor-count, that cleaning up the warn-alerts, would overwhelm the guardian-resources we have? You are pointing out that the abuseFilter (aka the editors who write and maintain the regex of this particular abuseFilter) does not allow me to edit, as and when needed. All 94 sources are from various reputable newspapers, journals, publications, websites etc, hence I believe the wikibot has registered a false positive. As this is my first time editing a Wiki article, I appreciate advice on how to overcome this. I have integrated salient points from the previous entry, but I am concerned that perhaps I should not have pasted over the previous entry? Please advise. If you've got a robot randomly linking words to definitions in Wiktionary, this is a good example of wyy that is a bad idea. Somebody looking to show what clever programmers they are would be better employed to write something to keep track of how many times people start to edit something and get put off the the rediculous hoops you make people jump through just to do something positive they aren't going to be paid for. I swear this is the last time I try to improve Wikipedia in the least. You've made it too much trouble.

Description: I'm not reporting a false positive, but an apparent problem/bug with your message. The link to "Wikipedia Co-Founder Speaks Out Against Jimmy Wales" (author:Nicole Ferraro) is dead. I replaced it, but was told (correctly) that my change was rejected as my new link was from the banned Archive.is. So I went to look for an alternative link, but found none, so I decided to re-enter the Archive.is url so I could once again get the same message so I could check out what had been said in the RFC. But instead it rejected it with a completely different message that didn't offer any link to the RFC. As it happens I got lucky and was able to find the RFC by other means. But it nevertheless seems to me that this is a bug as it should have given me the same message as it did the first time. So I'm reporting this apparent bug here, because I don't know where else to report it.

Afterthought: I don't know whether this is relevant or not, but I'll mention it just in case it is: shortly after my attempt to get the same message again (as mentioned above), Windows gave me a message saying it had just blocked an attempt to add a new Toolbar (presumably to my browser, though I'm not 100% sure of that). As I presumably accessed Archive.is shortly beforehand, as well as other sites on the same Google search that turned out not to have the desired archived article, it may also suggest that malware may be coming from that banned site, or from non-working pseudo-competitors of that banned site perhaps intended to convey the impression that our ban is dangerous for us (though I have no proof of any of this speculation).
