Bursaspor (officially Bursaspor Kulübü) is a professional Turkish football (soccer) team based in Bursa.

History

The club was founded in 1963 and they play at the Bursa Atatürk stadium, which has a capacity of 19,700. Their most notable accomplishment was a Turkish Football Cup win in 1986.[1] Bursaspor played in the Turkish Superlig between 1967 and 2004. They were relegated to the Second League Category A, the second level of the Turkish League in 2004. They gained promotion back into the Turkish Superlig after topping the Second League Category A in 2006. They were also relegated to Second Level in 1985-86 and 1986-87 seasons and came back after winning the Turkish Cup in 1986 and a Turkish Council of State verdict in 1987.

Supporters

Bursaspor have one of the biggest number of supporters population alongside Galatasaray, Fenerbahçe and Beşiktaş in Turkey. The club's main fan base known as Teksas (Texas).[2][3] They are also known for supporting Azerbaijan during controversial game between Turkey and Armenia in 2010 FIFA World cup qualification.[4][5][6]
