have a gander (to keep section size down)

Thanks, Chris (クリス • フィッチュ) (talk) 13:46, 8 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Done. ---— Gadget850 (Ed) talk 16:17, 8 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
You can do SVGs? I thought those were out for you like they are for me. Cool! Chris (クリス • フィッチュ) (talk) 02:34, 9 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I broke down and learned Inkscape. ---— Gadget850 (Ed) talk 04:51, 9 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I tried, can't figure it out though I should. Like licensing. Too much weird reading. ;) Chris (クリス • フィッチュ) (talk) 10:01, 9 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Next question, since you have made these SVGs, is that your next goal with the non-photo emblem graphics? Chris (クリス • フィッチュ) (talk) 10:11, 9 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
My friend is back fixing images! File:Bleimor Scouting.png and File:Union of Burma Boy Scouts 1950.svg need to have the extra space removed. Chris (クリス • フィッチュ) (talk) 08:41, 10 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
She just snagged all of these non-frees from Commons for us

and turned them all into PNGs. I don't have enough time right now, but I will find them homes. She likes to leave that extra spacing, so please have a look. Chris (クリス • フィッチュ) (talk) 09:56, 10 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm confused. She took File:6th World Scout Jamboree.svg from Commons and uploaded it here as a PNG? Ditto for File:Association of Armenian Scouts.svg. ---— Gadget850 (Ed) talk 13:18, 10 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
She's antsy about fair use+SVGs, many graphicists seem to be. Chris (クリス • フィッチュ) (talk) 05:59, 11 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

File:2nd World Scout Jamboree.xxx

I've uploaded the original image, but it's small and has the serial number. Some Jambo images are graphic, others photos, what do you like for this one? --Chris (クリス • フィッチュ) (talk) 16:33, 15 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Confused. Which one do you want? What is the difference? ---— Gadget850 (Ed) talk 17:44, 15 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Purge your cache, they may still look alike for you. PNG is now the actual badge--Chris (クリス • フィッチュ) (talk) 18:41, 15 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
They are obviously different: the PNG is a scan and the SVG is a redraw. I don't see that the PNG is needed. ---— Gadget850 (Ed) talk 23:19, 15 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, so you like the svg better. That was the question. :) --Chris (クリス • フィッチュ) (talk) 05:17, 16 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Can I instead suggest to you which should be AfD'd?

I didn't know what the old one looked like before I asked Rlevse to restore. Looking at both variants, they're not that markedly different, are they? Maybe we don't need both. Your thoughts? --Chris (クリス • フィッチュ) (talk) 03:28, 29 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

What about this one? Prefer emblems with outlying text or without? For me case by case. --Chris (クリス • フィッチュ) (talk) 21:32, 4 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

My profile - I think I need to start again

Hello Gadget850

I'm so pleased you left me a message as I could do with some help. I have already asked for help on the help desk but you seem like the person to help me.

I've created a profile and uploaded my photo to the wrong place.

I made a new user profile and attempted to embed my photo into my profile. All I wanted was to end up with one page on Wikipedia containing a few words and a photo of myself but I now have a profile page and a separate photo page which are both in the place. Is it possible to move my profile and photo back to Wikipedia as one profile page or to delete them and start again? The two pages I need to move are

http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Lizzie_Charlton http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Elizabeth_Charlton.jpg

The only contribution I have made to Wikipedia so far is a big mess. If you can find a way of fixing this I'd be very grateful. Thank you.--Elizabeth (talk) 18:26, 21 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome and thanks for asking. Both the image and the user page are on Wikimedia Commons, which is a repository for free-use images. I think you want to spruce up your Wikipedia user page. I started an infobox at User:Lizzie Charlton. You will find cute little userboxes on many userpages— see Wikipedia:Userboxes for some info or you can see mine at User:Gadget850/about.
Please remember that our purpose is to build the encyclopedia. You are allowed a lot of latitude on your userpage, but it should focus on our work here. ---— Gadget850 (Ed) talk 19:31, 21 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you! Can you give File:Girl Guides Association of Rhodesia.png a trim? --Chris (クリス • フィッチュ) (talk) 01:26, 28 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Done. What about all the other images lsited above? ---— Gadget850 (Ed) talk 01:34, 28 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! Which list above? There are several, for different purposes. --Chris (クリス • フィッチュ) (talk) 02:58, 28 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Can you make the background clear and trim out the blank space on File:MCSSZ-logo.png? Thank you! --Chris (クリス • フィッチュ) (talk) 04:29, 28 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Done. ---— Gadget850 (Ed) talk 05:02, 28 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Way better, thank you! That one really shouldn't be at Commons, as a brand new logo. --Chris (クリス • フィッチュ) (talk) 07:22, 1 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Venturing age change

Hi Gadget, I noted your edits to the BSA page today regarding the changes in Venturing ages. Those changes do not take effect until May 1 according to this. Was your noting of a March 1 change an oversight? Jim Miller See me | Touch me 20:21, 3 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination for deletion of Template:Quote box2

Template:Quote box2 has been nominated for deletion. You are invited to comment on the discussion at the template's entry on the Templates for discussion page. Thank you. —Justin (koavf)TCM01:06, 7 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Could you move the {{tfd}} into the nonincluded section? On the various pages where I do utilize this template over the newer {{ref}} and {{note}} templates, the {{tfd}} breaks apart the article.—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 04:35, 7 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Non Free Files in your User Space

Hey there Gadget850, thank you for your contributions! I am a bot alerting you that Non-free files are not allowed in the user or talk-space. I removed some files that I found on User talk:Gadget850. In the future, please refrain from adding fair-use files to your user-space drafts or your talk page.

  • See a log of files removed today here.

Thank you, -- DASHBot (talk) 00:22, 9 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Watch out! You forgot |type=inline

Hey Gaget850.

You've recently nominated two inline templates for deletion but forgot to put |type=inline parameter in {{tfd}}. As a result, quite a number of articles had become unreadable and messy. I implore you, please be more careful in the future. Fleet Command (talk) 11:18, 9 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for File:4th_World_Scout_Jamboree.png

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:4th_World_Scout_Jamboree.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Melesse (talk) 11:16, 11 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:Scouts Canada Newfoundland and Labrador.png

⚠
Thanks for uploading File:Scouts Canada Newfoundland and Labrador.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

PLEASE NOTE:

  • I am a bot, and will therefore will not be able to answer your questions.
  • I will remove the request for deletion if the file is used once again.
  • If you recieved this notice after the image is deleted, and you want to restore the image, click here to file an un-delete request.
  • To opt out of these bot messages, add {{bots|deny=DASHBot}} to somewhere on your talk page.

Thank you. DASHBot (talk) 05:15, 13 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Comparison of Internet Relay Chat clients

Hey, I just wanted to let you know I reverted this edit you made, because I assumed it to be a mistake. Maybe you had an old version of the article when working on the reference template cleanup? thommey (talk) 13:43, 13 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
