I believe that this close was totally wrong. It was a no consensus. Clearly their is a standing consensus by the project and numerous previous AfD discussions to support the breakout of these lists. Please consider reversing this decision. Thanks. Vegaswikian (talk) 19:06, 1 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

As the result was not delete, all the history is preserved. Feel free to revert the redirect if you think it is a better solution. Greetings. --Tone 19:20, 1 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, it is done. Have a good New Year. Vegaswikian (talk) 20:19, 1 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I strongly disagree. All the keep rationales were "the project policy is this". But the project policy cannot supercede Wikipedia's general policies. I42 (talk) 21:28, 1 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
So you are saying that just because they are saying the projects guideline is to allow those, the opinions should be ignored along with all of the past AfD and discussions that supported that inclusion in the project guideline? Vegaswikian (talk) 21:52, 1 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I am saying that WP:NOTDIRECTORY is a policy which no project guideline may overrule. This article is clearly and unequivocally a directory entry and nothing else, and is therefore indefensible. Those supporting "keep" were basing their opinion on the Airline project guideline but the airline project guideline cannot take precedence over policy and must be discounted: the result of the AfD was not "no consensus" at all. And yes, I am saying that the airline project is not a rule unto itself. I42 (talk) 09:00, 2 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Guys, pointless to argue here. AfD is a mechanism to figure out whether an article should be deleted or not. The outcome was not to delete. Further actions (leave as it is/merge/whatever) should be discussed on the article talkpage, not here. --Tone 10:30, 2 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

ITN

Hi Tone, I'm sorry to badger you but when you add an item to the ITN template, would you mind informing the updater/ nominator and tagging the article talk page with the relevant template at WP:ITN#Recognition. I'll drop the templates for ASEAN–China Free Trade Area and if it doesn't suit you to do it in future (updating ITN is enough imo since only admins can do it), I'll be happy to do it for you, just drop me a note (I'm around ITN/C most days). All the best, HJMitchell You rang? 21:31, 1 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I'd appreciate if you could do this. I'm really not a fan of posting those boxes and that's why I only update the protected template. Greetings. --Tone 21:33, 1 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Better now? I did some work on it. :-) --candlewicke 00:56, 2 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Better it is. However, I'd like to have more feedback from the other users at the ITN/C page. --Tone 10:30, 2 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Is Keep also the result for Pittsburgh A To Z, or is that still to be determined?--DThomsen8 (talk) 13:00, 10 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Right, I missed that... yes, it's a keep. --Tone 13:01, 10 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

2010 Haiti earthquake

Per discussion (9 hours ago!) on this articles talkpage regarding links to Aid Organisations, there are now a whole lot of links that seem to go directly to the donation pages of various agencies. Just letting you know, as this seems to go against what was stated then. ie. "not appropriate to include links". Unfortunately it seem to be building into a major disaster. --220.101.28.25 (talk) 17:58, 13 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLPs

Hello Tone! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 41 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 295 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

It seems you deleted a page about TwinMOS for some reason. Now there is a fact box about this company on the SecureDigital page, where I think it does not belong. Why can't this information be on a TwinMos page? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Andthu (talkcontribs) 23:47, 16 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article was deleted because it did not meet the criteria for a separate article. Maybe it could be rewritten. I've removed the box from Secure Digital article. Greetings. --Tone 09:53, 17 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

can you userfy this article please? I noticed you were on the deletion logs, this was a notable songwriter and A&R man for Vee-Jay Records. many thanks riffic (talk) 08:30, 17 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Basically, all the content was Calvin Carter is the brother of the founder of Vee-Jay Records Vivian Carter.Born May 27, 1925. He joined the company in 1953 and became the principal producer, in charge of the recording sessions. He is a songwriter and composer of jazz and popsongs. If you need it on a separate page... Greetings. --Tone 09:53, 17 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
yes, please userfy. Retaining the history would be nice as well. thanks riffic (talk) 15:01, 17 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
User:Riffic/Calvin Carter, it's all there now. Greetings. --Tone 15:24, 17 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Deleting Violation

You deleted the article, 'Bulbagarden', and let some Pokémon fans (Wikipedians who like Pokémon) unable to go shortcut to Bulbapedia, the community-driven Pokémon encyclopedia. If you do this again, you will be blocked from editing the page, and will be caught into the hell. --WiiKiBoyz (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 02:13, 21 January 2010 (UTC).[reply]

Deletion of Russet Noon Article (April 2009)

Hello Tone,

I understand you're the administrator who deleted the Russet Noon article back in April of 2009. I'm writing to request that you consider restoring it for the following reasons: The argument against keeping this article at the time was based on the alleged lack of notoriety of the novel. However, there is a section under author Peter David's main article, which is entitled Potato Moon. As you will notice, this section refers to Russet Noon, since Potato Moon is a parody of Russet Noon. Given that Peter David could be considered by many to be a legendary author in the comic book genre, how is it not notorious that he decided to host a red-robin satire on his personal blog about Russet Noon?

Please be kind enough to let me know your thoughts about this appeal.

Ladysybilla (talk) 04:52, 26 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. The proper place to consider restoration of the article will be the deletion review. You should present the arguments there and let the community decide, it's not only up to me. If new references exist, this is a good start. Keep me posted. Greetings. --Tone 12:05, 26 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

ITN nomination

Hi. Since you are one of the main ITN admins, I'd like to suggest to take a look at this nomination from January 23. If there is still space on the ITN template, please add the blurb as it already has a lot of support and more protests are planned so it is an ongoing issue and may require a re-post in the near future. I recently completed a separate article that I just recently published, so that could be the main link for the news blurb. Thanks. ~AH1(TCU) 03:00, 29 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Uploading TV screenshot

Hi, I have taken a few screenshots from a football match. These screenshots show the players and I intend to use them under fair use in each player's appropriate article. Can I upload them or will they be deleted? Hobapotter (talk) 12:51, 1 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry to butt in. If the images are copyright, they must comply with Wikipedia's Non-free content criteria. Unfortunately, if the players are living, the images will almost certainly fail these criteria because non-free images must not be replaceable and Wikipedia considers almost any non-free image of a living person to be replaceable. It's not ideal but it's policy. Hope that helps. Best, HJ Mitchell | fancy a chat? 13:27, 1 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, Thanks for the information but there's no claim on the copyright; I mean to ask Is there any copyright on a still image from a video? Hobapotter (talk) 13:40, 1 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Almost certainly- the content of the video probably belongs to the production company, but if you can prove that it is in the public domain or licensed under the an appropriate Creative Commons license, you should be OK. The problem is that the burden of proof, so to speak, rests with you. Is the image one you found online? If so, you could give me the URL and I'll have a look for any evidence of copyright or otherwise. HJ Mitchell | fancy a chat? 13:56, 1 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Question on vote counting for AfD

Do 7 delete + 5 keep + 5 merge = delete? [2]

(there actually are 6 votes to keep as well as the 5 to merge, a strong keep was uncounted, perhaps due to a spacing error [3])

There may be some rule about counting votes that I am not aware of, or perhaps the delete was a mistake? That is why I am asking. RegardsKeptSouth (talk) 11:19, 2 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I believe there was a clear consensus to delete that article. And remember, AfD is not a vote. --Tone 17:43, 14 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

AFD closing nudge

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Alice Gerard

Kindly outline for me why Alice Gerard was deemed not following Wikipedia biography noteworthiness. All discussion about the matter has been erased. thanks--Aichikawa (talk) 15:47, 22 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. The article was deleted via prod process, where there is no separate discussion, just nomination. This means that the article can get restored, however, it is in a poor shape and will likely get deleted again unless improved. If you are willing to help here, I will gladly restore it. Greetings. --Tone 16:02, 22 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes I'm willing to help. Please put it up and I will work on it. --Aichikawa (talk) 15:42, 25 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Done. Good luck :-) --Tone 16:28, 25 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Tone,

I am a new, unconfirmed, wiki member and would appreciate your help in publishing an article I have written about the Bonghan System currently at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:DavidWis/Bonghan_System#cite_note-0

You deleted a previous article entitled Bonghan Theory (or System) back in August 22, 2009. I didn’t see the original but comments on the deletion page lead me to believe that this article was based on an article I published in 2009. The article was criticized as unreferenced and non notable WP:FRINGE theory seeking to gain attention by using public forums of discussion rather than through academic journals. I think my article clearly demonstrates that the research being done on the Bonghan System is published in a wide variety of academic journals and is a notable discovery of previously ignored anatomical structures.

If you have any suggestions or advice I would appreciate it if you could post it on the discussions page. I’m not sure if it should be submitted to the controversial moves section …. or should I just add

to the top of the page? I’m also unclear about copyright releases for photos which I hope to be able to get from the original research authors. Your assistance will be much appreciated.

David/Wis

Hi. Indeed, the original article was deleted because of problems with sources. The new version looks well-supported by recent references so this in my opinion counters the original deletion rationale. I think you can move the article to the article space, tell me if you need any help with that. Regards, --Tone 15:45, 14 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

i wanted to talk to you regarding the deletion of the soundbox banditz page , i listen to there music and there pretty good i just wanted to know why there wiki was deleted and an it be restored , they have links to there music and they have made a video on youtube about the haiti tragedy ,i guess what im trying to say is if they dont have a wiki people wont be able to read about them or see what there upcoming projects are ,im sure they would use it for a good cause ,so if you can , can you restore it that way there music can be heard by a wider range of people thanks for your time —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.117.184.176 (talk) 22:27, 13 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion review of a PROD - 21:04, 27 February 2008 Tone deleted "Suicidal Romance"

The reason for deletion was 'non-notable band'. This band was always "notable" and should never have been deleted.

In 2008 they released an EP entitled "A Kiss To Resist" and in May 2010 they will release a new full album entitled "Shattered Heart Reflections".

ShadowViolet (talk) 02:19, 17 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. The article was deleted three times by different admins. In its last shape, it was in quite a poor state and did not meet the criteria. However, if new material is available, you are invited to start the article from scratch and write it again. Regards. --Tone 09:22, 17 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Could use a pro like you to nominate a page for deletion. What do you think? I will follow your lead on the matter. I see you deleted the other guy listed on his page that fell under the same circumstances and from the same group. Cheers, Take care.
