Hyuna

Kim Hyun-Ah (Korean김현아; born June 6, 1992 in Seoul), known simply as HyunA, is a South Korean dance-pop singer and a member of girl group, 4minute. She is a former member of Wonder Girls.[1]

Career

2007—2009: Debuts with Wonder Girls & 4minute

In 2007, Hyuna debuted with the Wonder Girls, a girl group managed by JYP Entertainment, with the single "Irony" as the group's main rapper. [2] She left the group in July[3] when she was removed by her parents due to their concern over her health—in particular, chronic gastroenteritis and fainting spells.[1]After a hiatus of two years, Hyuna featured in label mate, AJ's "Dancing Shoes"[4] and "2009"[5] in 2009. She was then transferred over to JYP Entertainment's sister label, Cube Entertainment[6]. After joining Cube Entertainment, Hyuna joined girl group 4minute. Announced in May 2009, the group debuted with their single, "Hot Issue" on 15 June.[7][8]

2010: Solo career

It was announced by Cube Entertainment that Hyuna would release a solo single, titled "Change". The single was released in January 2010 and debuted high on various online charts while also becoming a top search term.[9] Hyuna commenced promotions for "Change" on KBS's Music Bank.[9][10]

On January 14, 2010, the "Change" music video was flagged with a 19+ rating due to Hyuna's provocative dancing, citing it to be inappropriate to minors. Cube Entertainment stated that the MV would be re-edited and submitted for approval. Broadcast stations SBS, however, announced the MV would be restricted for a 15+ audience instead, and MBC announced that it would still be viewable for all audiences.[11]
