On other pages other people have done the total opposite to the rules, and still theirs isn't deleted. Wikipedia is ment to be for people to publish their own stuff, but how can we if people like you delete it.

History of E! Entertainment Television

E! Entertainment Television Movietime original files and docs support that Larry Namer, Brian Owens, Rick Portin, Mike Sobel, Bill Zaccheo, Mark Hale, and others launched the network. If you research Alan Mruvka you will discover that his own info, which he wrote on his Wiki bio, is ridiculous and exaggerated--how could he produce 20,000 hours of programming (much less one, he had nothing to do with production at Movietime) when the network was only on the air (20 hours a day plus infomercials) 11,000 hours before he was removed from Movietime!! And if born in 1967, did he really go to college and have a business background, and then come up with a network idea when he was 16 years old in 1984? Any sourced materials that support the above claims have been manipulated, probably by Mruvka. He supplied some of the money that started the network and was on the Board of Movietime until removed by the cable operators in early 1989. He had absolutely no operational responsibilities for Movietime, though he has erroneously claimed production responsibility in his self-penned Wikipedia bio. If you want pdf's of the Movietime launch, I can email them to you. ---- Pienza89 (talk) 14:58, 6 July 2010 (UTC)

By the Way, I forgot to add that most of the first two paragraphs of the E! history were written by me before I formally registered. I worked with all the people who launched the network, and named those most responsible for its successful launch. They were the operational heads of departments which created the concept and did the work and came up with the ideas and operation to do the launch, which was financed by a half dozen companies. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Pienza89 (talkcontribs) 05:34, 7 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I looked at the Greenwood press attribute which you refer to, which ironically is a channel description written by me when I worked in the U.K. for a cable company and described E! for our channel guide. At least put the following in, which is directly from the article and more accurate than letting two people take the credit for the significant idea, work, and contribution of others:

"launched by Larry Namer, Alan Mruvka, Brian Owens, and others on July 31 1987 as Movietime a low-budget service that....... " —Preceding unsigned comment added by Pienza89 (talkcontribs) 14:53, 7 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

History of E! Entertainment Television -- your source for intro has been written inaccurately

The Anthony Slide book, 1991, does not say that Mruvka launched the channel, WHICH HE DIDN'T, but wrote that Mruvka co-founded the network, WHICH HE DID BECAUSE HE WAS THE FIRST INVESTOR: "Founded by Larry Namer and Alan Mruvka, Movietime Channel was launched on July 31, 1987 by HBO, Warner Communications........."(page 94) Mruvka had no operational responsibility whatsoever for the network at its launch, or thereafter--he was on the Board of Directors and one of more than twenty shareholders at the network's launch. And author Slide had no facts for his info, as HBO and the cable TV operators did not invest in Movietime until one year after its launch. He probably had interviewed Mruvka or Namer and got the full story wrong.

This is what I got from googling ("The television industry: a historical dictionary mruvka"_ your source for the Mruvka claim on launching Movietime: http://www.uksuperweb.co.uk/tv.html to to #17 . Otherwise that google just goes circular to wikipedia . —Preceding unsigned comment added by Pienza89 (talkcontribs) 17:22, 7 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Once more before the breach--A "launch of a network " is not the same as a "founding"

Once more, quoting directly from the page (94) of the source you are using, "The Television Industry: a historical dictionary" by Anthony Slide:

"Founded by Larry Namer and Alan Mruvka, Movietime Channel was launched on July 31, 1987 by HBO, Warner Communications, American Television & Communications, Continental Cablevision, Cox Cable, News Channel Corp., United Cable, and Warner Brothers Studio,"(page 94)

This is not by any means the same as what you have now written in Wikipedia:

"E! Entertainment Television was founded by Larry Namer and Alan Mruvka[1][2] on July 31, 1987 as Movietime, a service that aired movie trailers.........."

The channel was absolutely not founded in 1987 (it was incorporated as the Movietime business about a year earlier), but it was indeed launched on July 31, 1987 by a group you will or can not recognize, and I will try to find a true source about this. Meanwhile, if you must recognize the veracity here as the Slide book material, you would do best to complete the error by exactly writing/inserting what Slide wrote: "Founded by Larry Namer and Alan Mruvka, Movietime Channel was launched on July 31, 1987 by HBO, Warner Communications, American Television & Communications, Continental Cablevision, Cox Cable, News Channel Corp., United Cable, and Warner Brothers Studio," notwithstanding that Slide did not have a clue about what he was writing here. Or you can let me recognize Mruvka, as one of many launchers, which I previously wrote to compromise and let him have his ego-rub.

Truly, take a look at the Alan Mruvka Wiki bio he wrote, which has many blatantly ridiculous claims--PLEASE LOOK AT IT. Mruvka writes "While with E!, Mruvka oversaw production of over 20,000 hours of programming ........" There are 8,760 hours in a year, so even if he had anything to do with production (which he did not), in the year and a half Mruvka was associated with the network, was he really 13,000 hours of the network, including the thousands of hours of paid infomercial hours late at night? And "Mruvka was born ....in 1968, " and "studied architecture at the University of Miami and New York’s Pratt Institute," so was he really just nineteen years old when Movietime launched." Lots of well-deserving people don't need Mruvka stealing their due. Pienza89 (talk) 21:36, 7 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I am learning how to work with Wikipedia, thank you, and I will dig out some archives and try to get this right when I have time. BUT meanwhile, I find some hypocrisy in your actions in that you insist from the Anthony Slide book that Namer and Mruvka founded the network, but now you won't complete the Anthony Slide's statement that HBO and others launched the network. If you believe me, then you'd accept my edit. If you don't believe me, then you would fully put in what the Slide source wrote. I don't get the inconsistency. If you use the source, then use the source and write "Movietime Channel was launched on July 31, 1987 by HBO, Warner Communications........." And if you don't, and believe what I have written, then go back to my edits. It should be "either, or" , and not your pick and choice from a written source and me--that's consistency and I would think that is what Wikipedia is trying to achieve in these "factual" disputes. You wrote that the HBO group was in the second paragraph so there was no need to put the complete Slide reference into the first paragraph, but I COMPPLETELY WROTE THE SECOND PARAGRAPH. The HBO et al ownership is what I wrote, which I mentioned when I first wrote you. Yes I wrote that paragraph before I registered, because why register when I was the originator of almost all of the first two paragraphs? When Mruvka changed the opening and took out the other people's names who launched the network, I had to register to start editing that text. But again, the second paragraph was completely written by me so I stand by what I wrote: you either accept what I wrote or completely take out the (my) non-referenced material and put in the Slide page 94. Otherwise your "corrections" are illogical, using my material when it seems right to you but then not using it when it might be in conflict with an interview with Mruvka. "It appears to me that the second paragraph evolved (like most content on Wikipedia) from edits by multiple editors, not you as an anonymous IP alone." I am sorry that you tire so easily, but, again, I wrote all of the second paragraph except for the last sentence, so it did not stem from "multiple editors." You do a disservice when you challenge the veracity of a person who made a solid contribution and then had another person change it. There were no multiple editors in the second paragraph, and the HBO et al sentences, as well as all except the last, were mine, alone. So why don't you remove them, unless you continue to want it both ways, accepting what I write but then dropping what I write as you editorialize. Pienza89 (talk) 23:47, 8 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The Show

I added new references. The album is on amazon and billboard, and this band is very important. they just recently played the O2 Arena, also played by Kelly Clarkson and Hole. They have also been mentioned in publications such as Jersey Beat and Village Voice. Although they are still an indie band, they have many radio stations internationally that have the Show in consistant rotation. The album has sold over 30,000 copies, and still is selling consistently. The Show are going to be huge pretty soon, so their wiki has to come now. —Preceding unsigned comment added by CjsRoxMySox (talkcontribs) 03:37, 8 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Spam on user talk pages

In regard to your block of Eatinqueens... I haven't been here long, but I've already seen this a couple of times now (new users spamming/advertising on their talk pages). Is this something that needs to be mentioned in policy (people think it's ok?) or is it merely a way that users think they can get away with through going unnoticed? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Gz33 (talkcontribs) 06:11, 14 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It is indeed pretty common. I'm not sure exactly why though. Sometimes it is like you say, they are trying to avoid being noticed. Other times, I think they just don't know and think their talk page is a good place to put their ad. No policy addition is necessary as it is already covered in blocking policy. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 06:20, 14 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I see its covered there now. I was looking at the Promotion policy and the link policies which seemed to give of the idea that they mainly meant for article space gz33 (talk) 06:32, 14 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The blocking policy allows for spam/advertising blocks no matter where they edit. The funniest spam I see is on Talk:Main Page. I really don't understand that one since there are big warning messages all over the place with that, but I guess some editors are just determined to place their ad. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 06:35, 14 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Any spam/vandalism here is pretty hard to understand really, what with how quickly it tends to disappear. I mean is a couple of seconds of display time really that worth it?gz33 (talk) 06:44, 14 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Another sock

Clear sock puppet - Wisdom24 (talk · contribs). He opened his account on the 9th of July and thus can edit the page now. This is frankly becoming tedious. ShahidTalk2me 15:02, 14 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Gogo Dodo,

I was adding a few professional game reviews from this site - http://www.download-free-games.com/review/all/score-high/ - when I got flagged for external links.

Would it be appropriate to keep adding links to these reviews on relevant pages?

Thanks,

Ufuoma Ejenobor

hello Gogo, thank you for you contributions and correction on the Ufuoma Ejenobor page. it shows that we still have committed editors on the site. But it would be more appropriate to check on facts before completely deleting an article especially if the articles are not easily verified from your side of the world. if there are problems regarding a page, they should be discussed and PROPERLY VERIFIED before deletion. we could work together on building and correcting articles in which language and other factors are lacking. thank yo very muchAnnaadoms (talk) 02:55, 18 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

the February edit has been attended to already. there are reliable links there..you just weren't patient enough to read through them all. it would take a long while to source through for them again. let me know if there are other correctionsAnnaadoms (talk) 05:29, 18 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Gogo, consider having a look at the history Ufuoma Ejenobor. Annaadoms does not seem to grasp some of the rules here, as far as puffery, reliable sources, etc. are concerned and it's getting a bit tiresome. I mean, even if this, "She also earned a badge as the school’s Head girl 1998/99 session," were relevant, it would still need verification. We have either a fan or an autobiography. I also think I hear some quacking; time will tell. Thanks, Drmies (talk) 15:45, 18 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I would like your opinion

While out on my nightly patrol, I came across an odd page. I would like your opinion/decision on what should happen. The anomaly in question is Subash Sinchuari. I was going to add an A7 tag, but I checked the history. Using the very first version, [2], I wouldn't add a CSD tag (I'm more cautious than most when it to CSD tags, though). The strangest part is that the only non-bot to edit it, and cut out 95 percent of the content, is the initial author. The page isn't truly blank so neither did I tag it for G7. I'm just not sure how to handle it. CSD? Prod? If there's someone/someplace you want me to ask, lemme know. TheTito Discuss 10:07, 18 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry Gogo

I repent.

Oh yeah and what did I get caught for exactly? Cause I did some bad stuff but I'm clean from now on, I swear. Wouldn't want to get banned for some prior misdeeds! I can assure you - no bad edits (NBE) post 2:39 AM Central Time July 20, 2010!
